Hello Oga Bellong,Udz and everyone in the house. Please I have a concern and would like to seek advise from the experts. I am 39 years but will be 40 next February. I have an HND in Electrical Electronics Engineering. I sent a mail to EA if they could assess my HND and came with a positive reply that they can, provided I have ND as a prerequisite. Now, my question are:

1. If I quickly do the assessment, will I be able to get the 25 POINTS for the age before I clock 40 next year? You will get the 25 points if you get the ITA before clocking 40. The points are based on your age on the day you get the invite.
2. EA talks about CDR. Am I under any obligation to to CDR and what is/are the likely consequence of not doing CDR. There is no obligation to prepare a CDR; it is a requirement (I assume your HND is from Nigeria)

Consequences? No CDR, no positive assessment.

I will be glad to hear from my ogas in due course.

Thanks

I applied for Vetassess assessment on the 29th of August 2016 and on Monday 12th Sept 2016 (6wks plus) i got a Negative outcome my degree from a Nigerian state university was assessed as Australian Associate degree which is below qualification requirement of the occupation i applied for

@ Oga Bellong pls what should i do, should i look for another occupation that has the Associate degree as one their requirement but has the same task as what i do presently and applied for also to be assessed by Vetassess or should i apply to be assess for thesame occupation with another assessing body like ECWA. And If i am to apply to Vetassess for another occupation is it something i should give more time as my data is still currently with them

Vetassess and their one way direction. Did u apply on 29th of august or 29th of July? WC university did you graduate from? I always encourage people to first apply for advisory service to avoid unnecessary story. You can look for another occupation but you know vetassess always asking for one year work experience in nominated occupation. wish u well bro.

Please all the gurus in the house please help. Oga Bellong, udz, jukblam etc, please since vetaseses gave me the reply I told you guys earlier, I decided to take the second option Oga Bellong asks me to take. Which is mechanical engineering draft person. And tis being assessed by engineers Australia. So my question is, do I just write my cdr based on only my project work i did in school. Can I still write on my eight years experience in NDT I had in three different companies, why I asked is because I shall be be writing my cdr on my 8 yrs experience not as a draft person but the experience is on another field which is NDT. My second question is can I nominate directly as a mechanical engineer with my HND and ND since I have ova 8 yrs experience? Please am looking forward to your answers. Dis whole choice making tins don dey give my wife headache abeg make una help answer us b4 she go fall sick. So dat we go conclude for one occupation. Thanks to you all

Greetings everyone.
I came in to Australia by july, on student visa to study M.eng civil Engineering. Nonetheless, is it too early to start planning for the PR The only reason I didn't follow that route earlier was because my institution doesn't give certificate until after convocation, which won't take place until further notice(funaab school crisis and impending Asus strike), and certificate I much needed for assessment by EA. Thanks in anticipation for your prompt response (s).

Bro... Hw fr..
Its not too late at all. Its even advisable to start now as there is no guarantee after the masters that the course will still be on the SOL. The only advantage of the masters is 5points which you might not need if you do your analysis well.

Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by Bimpsy99: 4:01pm On Sep 15, 2016
My own little understanding. Your spouse may give you additional 5 points if he passes the skilled assessment in his profession and has at least competent in English (either academic or general training) and lastly if his skill in on the same list as your SOL or CSOL depending on the class of visa you require. However, the decision on whether he will take academic or general can only be made if you check the requirement of his assessing body. I understand for IT inclined people, ACS does not require English test but for accountants Academic version of English test is required. I trust this clarifies. You may not necessary need your spouse's skill assessment if you can achieve enough points from English test and work experience. Accounting is a very competitive profession and currently 70 points is needed for a class 189 visa.

If your spouse is in another profession that is less competitive and he has enough work experience, either of you or even both (diff EOIs) can be the principal applicant. Oga Bellong and other experts please correct me if I am wrong grin. I will suggest you go through this link to calculate your points and read more on the classes of visa. wink

https://www.acacia-au.com/skilled-migration-points-test.php

In addition, this may help; You may need to pay more upon lodging your visa application if you cant prove that your spouse has at least functional English, whether through English test or previous studies in English language.

https://www.acacia-au.com/skilled-english.php

Functional English[i]

If your spouse or partner has less than functional English, then you would need to pay the "English Education Charge" to cover English language tuition in applying for skilled migration.
You can show you have functional English ability by providing evidence of one of the following:

Completion of a degree, higher degree, diploma or trade certificate that required at least 2 years of study in English medium
Completion of all years of primary education and at least 3 years of secondary education in English medium; or
Completion of at least 5 years of secondary education in English medium; or
Scoring at least 4.5 averaged over the four components of the IELTS test within the 12 months before application, or during processing; or
Completion in Australia of at least 1 year of full-time study or equivalent part-time study towards a degree, higher degree, diploma, or associate diploma in English medium.
In some circumstances, functional English can be established via interview
You can also demonstrate functional English by completing an English test and scoring as follows:

Test component Average across test components only
IELTS 4.5
TOEFL iBT 8
PTE Academic 30
OET n/a
Cambridge (CAE) 147

It means you have the chances of getting an independent visa, 189 or others like 190 visa and 489 provisional visa. In that case your score determines which class of visa you can easily apply for.

This link might help.

@Esty4eva,

I may disagree with VETASSES on equating your bachelor degree to an associate degree but I can't fault them on giving you negative assessment for your work experience.

Your work experience has no correlation with the occupation you chose. ACWA Is the second body assessing the occupation you chose, I am not sure if you can get positive assessment from them because your skills are different from the occupations' description.

I am sorry, I can't help you choose an occupation, that is for you to do.
