Chai,
O'l boy why posting picshures of Germany and south africa for a mere Kenyan?

Apart from Nairobi,Kisumu and Mombassa, Kenya is almost totally a safari for wild animals and Massai people.
You have enough places to show a Kenyan than steal picshures of Germany or south africa.

If nigeria were not under a silly ruler, imagine Kenya comparing with it?

Tomorrow it will be Uganda or Burundi comparing with Nigeria. grin grin grin grin grin

Anyhow, the nigeria itself may fall apart pretty soon. So, i better stop calling all these backward african countries names.
Blithering idiot

No one will compare Johannesburg alone, with any city in the continent grin, I am not talking about Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, and others, SA is the best country in the continent, Eish! But our economy isn't performing very well at this moment undecided

We all love development and progress, wena. Just give it up for all the countries in Africa making huge strides. Eish!!!!
Ps. I honestly think SA has been underwhelming in its African operations and general investment presence. I have worked with many nationalities and i never shudder to give people my honest opinion on matters. To be more specific, i really thought that SA would be a catalyst for development and progress esp in scientific matters, but i have been proven wrong in this regard. I think SAns don't understand alot of dynamics ib Africa, which is quite odd.

South Africa is contributing a lot in africa, according to me ,Africa is changing because of the contribution of South Africa, after 1994 most SAcns were living under a bad situations, South Africa was trying to fix its problems first by building roads, houses for the poor, electricity and many more, I can't disagree, because I don't have any information about what you are talking about, I like when you call me ''wena'' grin, more Santon pictures

Let's not let patriotism cloud our judgment, honestly speaking, there's no way Port Harcourt can be compared to Nairobi development wise. As for Abuja it can though it pales when compared to Nairobi and as I said, it's the only city that won't disappoint you given its population. Now getting to Lagos, it's a city competing with Nairobi instead of Shanghai, Cairo or some other similar sized city. Its skyline, motorways system, retail penetration, corporate presence etc should be several times larger than Nairobi's and not the same size.

Then Ibadan, Kaduna, Kano and Lagos are above 2m ppl with Port Harcourt being very close to that figure. Lagos is too big to compare here so for the other 3,do you see anything Durban like or Abidjan like? So I don't think I was wrong saying your 2m - 3m cities are very disappointing.

It's good admitting realistic things. For instance, Pretoria is about the same size as Mombasa but Pretoria is a whole lot more developed, or Port Louis in Mauritius is half the size of Nakuru but it looks like the bigger city when compared infrastructure wise. The Port Harcourt - Nairobi match-up is just as contrasting

Ok, let us agree Port Harcourt can't be compared with Nairobi but Abuja and Lagos are better than Nairobi in terms of infrastructures and development.

Do you agree with that?

How many cities in China can compete with Japan and South Korea's cities with their 1 billion population?

How many can compete with Canada with their 1 billion population?

Lagos has surpassed Nairobi and it will soon surpass Johannesburg with the way it's developing rapidly.

Recently, Lagos has started building Skyscrapers and has even dedicated Eko Atlantic for such project. It will add to the numbers 100 of highrise already in the city.

In terms of transportation, Lagos has introduced BRT with a dedicated lane and in next few months will face out the popular bus called Danfo. Lagos has started building mono rails across the city which is expected to start functioning at the end of next month. The water transport is another area Lagos is developing. Cable cars are already under construction.

The visible cooperate present in Lagos is the reason we call Financial Headquarters of West Africa. All I have listed are more than Nairobi has presently.

Kaduna population is not up to 1.3 million. There it is clear Nigeria has only three cities above 2 million in population.

We are comparing Ibadan, Kano, Enugu and Calabar with Mombasa, so I don't think it is disappointing because these cities are also developed.

If you know the history of Ibadan then you will understand that it was competing with many big cities in Africa but it suffered due to political situations in Nigeria. Nevertheless, I agree we need to improve which I think some cities have started to do.

First picture is the new bus to replace Danfo

Second picture is the BRT buses currently used in Lagos

Third picture is the cable car to be used in Lagos. You can see the Lagos State officials inspecting it in one foreign country.

4th picture is the map of BRT routes

Nairobi and Kenya at large is cool and naturally beautiful. But it seems to me that most of the buildings in Nairobi are tall high rises that are mostly old concrete in the middle of large forests. Lagos on the other hand has its fair share of these old concrete highrises on Lagos Island but places in VI, Ikoyi, and the emerging Eko Atlantic are much more modern than the Kenyan counterpart. Lagos is very largely developed with not much forested area left. Most of the newer structures are glass and steel. And it's just the beginning. With large projects like the Eko Atlantic and Orleans area, Lagos will be 10 times greater than any Kenyan city and Johannesburg will only be at its tail. Lagos has a lot of cash going for it. It's just a matter of some few years. But even as it is now, it is relatively impressive and more modern in Outlook especially the VI, Ikoyi, lekki, eko Atlantic parts than Nairobi.

The ignorance by Nigerians about other countries in Africa is wanting...since 2000 Nairobi has been developing high rise outside the normal CBD witch was contracted from 1900-1990's

Upperhill now has the tallest structure in the region and House a lot of multinationals and major local companies

Maybe we Nigerians should really put it this way...Lagos is better than the whole kenya grin winkwith a higher gdp than the whole of kenya and also a gdp per capita better than that of kenya yet there is few tourist or game reserve centers and theirs no oil money in Lagos gdp also...with all these Mombasa ports, big shopping malls yet the whole Kenya economy still trails behind Lagos alone and we all know your uap tower was completed recently while necom was in the 80s #newbie really like showing off and make nigerian tell them @ariwo koni music....it's not that I'm been tribalistic comparing Lagos to Kenya s a whole but I jez can't stand all this mess...Kenya to Nigeria...where you at self...and in comparison to Kenya... lekki,vi,lag island, ikoyi all those will battle Mombasa and it's rate if they were a state under Lagos... grin....so pls stop comparing yaself with your grandpa's...you still have a long way to go... kenyattas
