OPta clear-cut chances stats is about shots missed inside the box. They don't determine which one was in the mid air, on ground or headed! As long it's inside the box and it was missed, then It's clear cut.

Aguero has missed more easy clear cut chances than Ibra for example, the Everton, Southampton games et al but because he hardly tried too hard to connect mid air nor contest aerial duels unlike Ibra, no one is holding him to ransom unlike Ibra whom you could just look at the amount of shots he took inside the box and claim he's missed plenty of chances.

Unbelievable!!! You just really typed that?

Opta has stats of total shots taken by every player outside of the box. Then inside of the box and inside the 6 yard box.

For instance Ibrahimovic shots in the EPL
Outside the box 20
Inside the box 34
Inside the six yard area area 9

I have given you the definition of clear cut chance from opta website. You still managed to bring your mamaput analysis into it. Na wa for you.

Bailly, Jones, Smalling. And we still need a CB? These guys will be the best in the world in two to three years from now. Our midfield is horrible at marking and recovering the ball.

These guys are always injured and inconsistent; reason we keep changing them. I think focus should be more on the attack. They're are clinical.

we need height and leadership in our defence. Smalling and Jones can't offer us that consistently.

You're not making sense with this post of yours.

I asked again did opta shows the shots connected mid-air, those difficult aerial duels etc. The likes of Aguero doesn't bother with that shite. If you put Aguero in our team, every performance would be as cagey as the one Rashford played against Arsenal. Wetin concern them with those shite crosses and lofted balls?

As a matter of fact, only Rashford is the best at making quality crosses in the team like those of his in the Watford match.

You sound like an illiterate.

OPTA separates all shots.

Opta uses its technology to determine thousands of items on the field of play. It sees far more than the naked eyes.

Opta knows how many shots taken by every player. It is records if it is a header or foot, etc. It records if the striker was unmarked, how much distance the next defender is to the striker taking the shot. What side the nearest defender was marking from, whether behind, levelled, in front. If there was a contact, how heavy was the contact from the market? etc. By how much distance the shot missed the goal, the angle on the box it was taken.

When you argue or doubt whether a defender had a contact with striker for a penalty, Opta knows it instantly without a replay. Opta knows instantly if original shot was on target before it was deflected for an own goal. It is aware how much distance a striker travel with the ball before a shot was taken.

So to answer your question, Opta records clear cut chances (that is tap in missed, close rage clear header missed, one vs one missed). When Rashford missed against West Ham, Opta recorded it.

Hope you don't mistake whoscored for Opta? Whoscored uses some live Opta data to update it's own live figures for rating. If you want to see Opta data, you subscribe them, but they might give you restricted access based on your lean pocket and individual status. This is the second time you've stated the quoted. At first I thought someone hacked your account, but then you've repeated it. It's funny to me coz this point you made was the crux of the argument between Christine and I, and you supported her stance of giving Zlatan new contract instead of getting a younger quality striker. So why the sudden U-turn?

I'm glad every stat you quoted has placed Ibra at the top of goal squanderers. I didn't even read those stats to know Ibra has squandered more goals than any striker on EPL. When I was against giving Ibra a new contract, I wasn't hating or saying it coz I didn't like his purchase, I was stating facts. His pace has declined and he misses begging chances. If we are serious about getting to the top, we need a younger quality striker that
will serve us for at least 5 seasons.

YOU NO KNOW BALL

The opta stats showed that 9 shots was taken by Ibra from inside the penalty area yet Ibra was alleged to have missed 8 chances regardless of 7 goals he's scored..

Do tell me where all the missed shots came from?
And are you implying that Aguero/Rashford would have contested those aerial chances or mid air balls, let alone the difficult ones?

You're simply someone who can't eve think out of the box other than resorting to opta even when the visual clips above stated otherwise. You should be grateful to Ibra for contesting the chances in the first place, Your rooney is even useless in that regards and of course you didn't see the one Rooney missed vs Watford, that's what a clearcut chance is about, seeing that you don't know what it entails and it was created by Ibra!
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Kagawa10: 1:06pm On Nov 30, 2016

Let's thrash this out.. Opta stats showed that Ibra took 9 shots from inside the penalty box and also judged him to have missed 8 clear cut chances. This inadvertly means that every shots taken from inside the penalty box were counted as clear-cut chances but the videos showed majority of this chances were not as clear-cut as the stats would have us believe. Most of them were difficult aerial duels or mid air volley shots..

So do tell me, how do Opta determines these difficult chances.

Aguero for example has missed as many clear-cut chances as Ibra, if not more but he didn't have high percentage on Opta because Aguero hardly contested aerial or mid air balls and as such, his missed chances were less than that of Ibra.

In other words, if Ibra had missed just 4 clear-cut chances and Aguero missed 4 clear-cut chances as well but the fact that Ibra had other shots taken inside the penalty box regardless of how difficult they were, would increase his shots tallies while Aguero's remain the same!

Can you get the memo, stats worshipper!

What has a clear cut chance got to do with shots taken inside the 6 yard area? A clear cut chance could result from anywhere in the final third, not just inside the box penalty area. If a keeper is displaced from his goal and no one defending the goal, then an unmark striker who is supposed to slot in from outside.

For instance, whether Torres took this shot from outside the box, inside or in penalty area, it is a clear cut chance from the very time he received the ball and went clear one vs one with the keeper.

I dont know what Rooney has got to do with this. Which chance are you even referring to?

What kind of thinking is this?

Ibrahimovic had 9 inside the 6 yard box.
34 inside the 18 yard box.

The area of the pitch doesn’t define what kind of chance it is.

Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Kagawa10: 1:52pm On Nov 30, 2016
In fact, let's count these clear-cut chances Ibra had missed so far in the league.

One was missed against burnley after Pogba cross, the only other clear-cut Ibra had, was Mata's pass which was well saved by the keeper.

2 were missed against city (the one after Rashford's cross and the one blocked by Stones).

Only 1 clear-cut chance was missed against Liverpool even though I don't think that one was actually quite clear-cut because the running momentum he was on before the header was too much..

1 was missed against Watford after Rashford's cross. The other one was too far for his reach and the Watford keeper quickly made it to the ball before he could.

Against Stoke, the only clear-cut he had was double saved by the Stoke keeper. In fact, Pogba and Lingard's clear cut chances (the 2 chances even had Ibra heavily involved) weren't even saved.

He didn't have any against Westham, majorities were air volley shots or difficult headed chances to boot. The one good ground shot he had was well blocked.

So, Elampiro do tell me these clear-cut you had imagined in your head.

How many does Ibra even get per game? In fact, Ibra has scored more difficult goals than any other strikers in the league yet you're arguing about the measly chances he missed. Maybe you should try watching other strikers who gets good number of chances than the little we fashioned out for Ibra and expected him to score from it.
