Not am excuse. Special forces are built specifically to fight unconventional battles. This is what Syria is, they got the air power, they regularly sling cruise missiles from 2000km away, they got highly trained commandos, they got thousands of other allied local soldiers, they all carry ATGMs, yet they still aren't making any progress .

This is what Syria is, a giant cluster fvck were none of the big powers have done anything.

In my opinion, we don't need that (water tankers and Replenishment oiler). We are mostly only going to operate in our EEZ, Gulf of Guinea and West-Africa.

We desperately need, again in my opinion, 2 Makassar type LPDs. The Makassars would play a dual role of replenishment and Landing ship.

Makassar-class landing platform dock after some wiki I can say you found something very interesting very cost effective, a good alternative to a amphibious assault ship, The statistics are very good... Hope they will consider it... but still we can go for Coastal tanker ships ex: Panarea-class oil tanker.
