Hell, I'm jealous of the senegalese! How they gon' be this badass?! Where they get the money from? Why can't they just stay 'behind' like most other african states?
Sounds crazy but they SHOULDN'T be that modern

It helps when Uncle Sam gives you lots of surplus equipment.

my dear sir what u missed completely is that this 418 million for 14 units of light attack craft includes the total operational life cycle costs which includes spare and periodic maintenance of the aircraft's itself (maybe even the weapons which also require some sort of minimum maintenance).

this is the western model where the initial amount paid looks huge but actually ends up costing less if calculations r done for costs over the entire operational life cycle of the concerned weapon system.
simply stated the initial amount includes the total operational life cycle costs involving the spares and associated periodic maintenance of the said weapon system.

unlike Russian and Chinese where the initial amount is comparatively small, but ends up almost double if not more when additional costs (not included in the initial costs) incurred for maintenance and spares for the entire operational life cycle of a weapon system is added.

Okay. So what's the benefit of wearing pink boots in combat?

lolzzz

thats maroon not pink

i have seen Indian paramilitary with these maroon shoes , there is no benefit per se its tradition , something passed down over the years.

if u insist it kind of helps to loosely differentiate between different military, paramilitary , reserve arms and also helps to obfuscate clandestine operations involving say SF soldiers dressed up as para military etc etc.

it seems ur fascinated with pink grin grin

Its just old leather boots bro.

Once you break a pair in, you tend to wear them for years and years. One of the reasons the army still uses them is because they last so long. As they fade they go reddish, partly due to the polish they use, partly because of the material they use.

My father still wears his from the 1970's when he goes hiking.

the article stated ( Air Tractor aircraft with weapons, and related support) and what our current problems! ? we have a counter-insurgency near our border, which will by the exit of AMISOM next year become even worse.this will enable KAF to have a precision bombing, increase its ISR platform and also allow it to operate from remote Dirt strips and airfields.comparing it with a deal made recently by Qatar worth $70 billion with Boeing, its a drop in the bucket.don't forget in the recent Huey ll Deal, every thought we were getting 5 chopper .which only later learned we were going to get 8 choppers

After Mali most of French West Africa got their anti insurgent shit together. Plus French military training is first grade.
They are using both and also some Israeli built Light armored vehicles.

South African special forces

Why is that commando wearing pink shoes? undecided undecided

The term "commando" is used for something else in South Africa.... A commando is a guy on a horse or on foot patrolling parameters such as farms or the national border or area of interest within their habitable zone... Commandos were never Special Forces or some kind of special operators, they were mostly local citizens with military training (uniform and rifles) with a local command.

The commandos were disbanded by the Mbeki government for political reasons.

The Parrabats use red shoe polish to match their berets. They take this with them when they go to other units like SF etc.

Can we put this to rest now ? If I wanted to see pics of red boots i'd go to cosmo.com!

I have to correct you here, ONLY special forces are called commando's these day's, The Commando system you are talking about is a whole other thing all together.

Up till 81 Special force regiments were called Commandos, exmp: 4 reconnaissance commando which is now called 4 special forces regiment.
Today companies within special forces regiments are called commandos.

They are using a mix of Chinese, Israeli, Japanese and American equipment. Only the body armour the blokes are wearing is French.

This is not an anti-insurgency operation. It is a conventional operation which thankfully did not result in a blood bath.

The Senegalese are professional, composed and show a high degree of tactical acumen.

This is visible for the World to see. They've done Senegal really proud.
