Hello House, 2017 shall favour us all. Yesterday 23/01/17 was my appointment at NIV Lagos. I was billed for 10:15 tho I got my chance earlier. The VO had just dashed out yet another blue form this time to a man who came with his 4-5 year old kid. I noticed most of those being interviewed rested so much on their arms so I made up my mind to just stand upright. He beckoned on me and I moved forward majestically. Kindly find my transcript below; He did not do much typing. It was more of a give and take situation. And none of my documents was checked. VO: Hello, how are you today? ME: Good morning. Am good and u? VO: I am good. Pass me your passport please. (Slid d passport in) So where are you going to in America? ME: Chicago Illinois VO: What for? ME: My company was invited to attend Bleep conference on Bleep and I have been directed by my employers to represent the company there. VO: What exactly are you in Bleep Nig Ltd.? ME: I am the producer and content sales manager. What I do as a producer is to outsource funding for inhouse and external productions from investors, and as a content sales manager I license movies to Cinema for theatrical release, video on demand platforms, cable and terrestrial tv. VO: You say you outsource funding for productions? ME: Yea VO: How do you go about that? Tell me about the process. ME: Ok. I write letters to potential financiers of movie projects, give them a template on how they could invest and recoup their money with profit. We have a way of inserting advertisement for them within the movie in a manner that its not so obvious its an advert. VO: You mean like Product Placement? ME: Exactly VO: Ok. Are you married? ME: Yes I am. I have a beautiful wife and two wonderful daughters A&B. A will be 8 on July 3 while B will be 2 on July 25. I hope to have another kid this year especial as A recently accused me of Child Over-spacing between her and her younger sister. I don't know where she heard that. VO: (faint smile) Hmm. What is your salary? ME: 3*# thousand Naira after all deductions. VO: Have you travelled out of Nigeria before? ME: Yes I have. I was in SA for my younger brother's graduation from the Flight Training College in George. I went to Dubai for shopping with my wife just before our wedding. I travel to Cameroon regularly because my step-mum lives there so I check on her from time to time, and I was part of the team in my previous place of work that travelled to China to inspect blank media .... VO: ...For distribution ME: Yea VO: Pick up your VISA in three business days (passes me the white paper) ME: Thank you VO: And enjoy you trip ME: Thank you so very much. I was interviewed by the guy in window 3. All I saw coming out of his window was blue from when I did biometrics till I found myself infront of him. Dat lady in Window 1 is something else. I kept hearing her say "sorry but you are not qualified for this visa at the moment...." Great thanks to every1 who has shared his or her transcript here. It helped a great deal. I am another silent reader. 15 Likes |

Dear VO I am currently holding my advance parole and employment authorization document and living in the USA waiting for my green card to be approved. It was supposed to come through in January but the Obama administration has USCIS fastrack naturalization applications during the election year which caused a 3 month delay. I have a wife and a newborn son back home and I am not able to see them often because I have been in the usa waiting on mt documents. I would like them to come and visit me on a visitors visa, just to cut short the time we will be apart. I am envisionig a 2 to 3 month trip. I have also filed a folow to come application for them and paid the fees, so i am kinda worried that if they apply for a visitora visa they will be denied based on the fact that i am a pending greencard applicant. Please advise. Thank you |

Hi everyone Please my brother got his US visa in September of last year to attend Bleep conference in Georgia but his work took him to Kaduna where he was n couldn't attend. Now he intends to go on vacation in New York in February please house, can he do so or he has to mail the consulate on the change of intent.? @LadyG @KaptainAfrika @Seyewest Everyone who can help |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by KaptainAfrika: 7:19pm On Jan 24, 2017 |
This is my opinion. I am giving your brother the benefit of the doubt. When he gets to the POE. He will need to convince the CBP, that circumstances beyond his control, made it impossible for him to attend the conference. If his story fails to convince the CBP, your brother may be deported and banned from the US for 5 years or permanently. Does you brother have proof of conference registration payments, payments for hotel in Georgia, USA, did he book flights to Georgia, USA?...having any of these documents, can show that he actually intended on going for the conference. Do not send any email. Change of intent is for those who have used their visa, for the purpose that they have gotten it, anyway its basically worthless but that's my opinion. All the best. bunmi1759: |

bunmi1759: My opinion and experience... He can actually go for another conference (Just like the previous one he applied for) since his visa is B1 and stay for vacation maybe for a week or 2... |

shrekandfiona:Now this usually happens, the need to check into Canada while on a B1/B2 visa in the US. So note this, If you are applying for a TRV in the United States with temporary status, ensure to provide: #Importantly 1-Your US Non-Immigrant Visa, in this case, your B1/B2 visa. 2-The original I-94 card issued by US authorities at the POE. *Now the technical part* Proof of ties to your country of usual residence(Nigeria). This should include (but is not limited to): 1-Proof of intent to return to that country (e.g.: airline tickets/travel itinerary), 2-Proof of employment (I.e.: employment letter, recent pay stubs, tax statements) 3-Proof of studies, if you are in school- "I was at the time so It applied to my case" (transcripts, student certificate, and reference letter from the school) 4-Proof of funds (I.e.: bank statements, property ownership documents), *now for this matter, since you sabi wetin you wan do, you gas yarn with your bank say you wan dollar estimation/evaluation of your GTB, Zenith or kini acct kpali as per say na for Yankee runs* "sorry I used pidgin, I am aware this is a globally viewed forum, and this advice is meant only for Nigerians". 5- Then your residence address in the US(If you are visiting a family member in the US, you should also provide proof of that family member's lawful status and residence in the US) on this one, it helps to have a family member in the US as they could also provide documents that could solidly backup yours, TRV's pop out faster on this note. I hope this helps... 3 Likes 3 Shares |

bunmi1759:This is very tricky as the sole determinant of your brothers entry, lies upon the officer on duty at the POE so your Bro has to learn the psychology of persuasion as regards to him coming on different grounds with very compelling reasons and sell off being very convincing with his intent of visiting this time. I hope your bro has innocent looks, as it will come in handy on this one. But it's a 50/50 he could either get deported or get admitted. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by optimusprime2(m): 8:46pm On Jan 24, 2017 |
iwrestledabear:Yes because they will be flatout denied... Why? Because a B1/B2 visa is categorised as an NIV (Non immigrant Visa), applicants have to overcome the burden that they are not intending immigrants by fending off faults of section 214b- of the US Immigration act. Now you being a major Tie to them automatically disqualifies them as NIV applicant's. Matters get worse as you are even following for the interview- that's like farting in a lecture hall and saying "excuse me for farting". Or they could have tried their luck "alone" without you showing up, even though the chances of getting it are slim it would have been worth a trial. Just wait for your green card and file the necessary petition. I believe you are on an H1B, Why didn't you file for H2's for your family all this while based on your role? 1 Like |

bunmi1759:I wanted to read and pass but the scary answers I saw made me stop by. Jesu o! Change of kini eh? Does he hve a valid visa? Does he have a valid purpose of travel? Can he satisfactorily answer the questions asked of every traveller? If yes. Tht is all he needs. Do u know why nigerians seem to always have issues at the border? Because they place emphsis on non issues and when they get asked the regulr questions , they panic. Btw change of intent letter is now nonsense 1 Like |
