So na with just four matches under Rohr, we wan take fly enter Top 5 abi??

Sometimes we forget Rohr's team have only played four games. smh

Abeg.... you don't expect great things from the Super Eagles more than everybody else here. There were more positives than negatives from that game.

And Why Expect Nacho to split defenses and make through passes consistently when he was upfront?? Na wa for you ooo.... which kain argument you dey make sef??

Nacho that took some or most of our set pieces, created some chances with his sleek touches and moves but his biggest crime was failure to score from three very good chances...

I flogged Nacho for his missed chances.... abi u know see my earlier analyses abi??

I even said Kayode can be pardoned for his missed chance.... but Nacho cannot because he is expected to bury those chances.

And about readily available options for Nacho... abeg... who is the person? I wanna know because As far as I know and same with some people... I was even surprised when Sir Komekn droppdd the question, "Who else is better for now in that role than Nacho?". I think he asked this to Sir Mickael2.

Iheanacho remains our most lethal goal threat for now. His situation at City is not because of talent but because of coach's preference..... and I just can't wait for Nacho to leave smiley

So who is the better-than-nacho option we have?

And since your eyes were only on Simon... you didn't eee Nacho and Musa at the back too abi... Nacho defending set pieces ba? or Musa running himself to the ground on that right?

You sef grin

And You say Samuel kalu's final ball are nothing to write home about.... abeg how many assists have Simon picked up compared to him? and how many goals have Simon scored compared to Kalu? this season oooo??

This is Kalu's first season in Belgium and he is already making impact and you wanna talk him down too because of Simon.... you sef na wa ooo.... which way naa??

Have you forgotten Simon's final ball palava also showed in that Senegal game....?

Simon is a baller and has bag of tricks but he really needs to be more multidimensional.... someone saying he is kinda predictable is not so far from the truth.

Abi is this the Simon you want us too to start for a team that wanna be top 5 in the world?? grin

Bia Oga Forgiveness.... balance out both the positives and negatives for everyone.... don't blow one's trumpet and use another to show negatives when everyone has one.... be fair biko.

forgiveness:

Do you think our opponents are not aware of our positives?

They already knew about that but I think they will focus more on the negatives which are too numerous for a team aiming to be among the top 5 in the world.

Maybe the Nacho you saw is different from the one I saw in that game.

The Nacho I know can spring passes, can split defense with a through pass and can score with half a chance but he obviously lacked all these attributes notable in his game.

His confidence level has definitely gone down and is about to crash if he continues to see limited game time in Manchester City.

He needs to move out of that team else I see no need of bringing a player who is not making his team to lead the Super Eagles attack.

Nigerians will not wait for him, we have other options readily available to take his place.

This my little piece of advice also goes to any player benched on a regularly based in his team which has nothing to do with injury or lack of form but on the bases of surplus to requirement.

Really, I am not putting him down, I am just stating the obvious and I am really angry because Guardiola wants to flush him out of the team gradually with subtlety and evil craftiness.

I am not a dummy to have seen the hand written on the wall.

His advisers should not deceive him because of the mulla dey are making from him.

I am not hyping Simon. I am only debunking the false impression that he brings nothing to the team after seeing the match.

It is here I heard he his one way traffic and predictable when attacking.

Someone even said Samuel Kalu offers a lot to Gent than him when we know Kalu has done nothing for Gent so far, while Simon Moses single handedly led the team to win the league three seasons ago.

Even this season, he is one of the most important players for Gent. He is charged with the responsibilities of Wing back, taking set pieces, defending etc over all players in Gent.

Maybe that is why he was saddled with the responsibility of taking set pieces in that match against Senegal.

The last match I saw them played Moses and Kalu doesn't know what to do with the final balls though they got skills and trickery.

What makes a player specular is how he carries out his duties well in a game and I saw Moses did that very well.

I saw him in the middle, at the back and at the center.

Where did he give the pass to Iwobi? It was a the center.

It was Iwobi a saw exchanged passes with him on the left flank several times.

I no dey raise any player, I just told you what I saw.

Let another person who watched the match carefully and without bias confirm what I said. grin

Emenike Set To Leave Fenerbahce For Russian Deal In Summer

By David Meshioye:

Erstwhile Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike, is eager to terminate his contract with Fenerbahce, with a return to Russia on the cards, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

According to Turkish sports news site, fanatic.com the former Spartak Moscow striker has told his agent Erdem Konyardan to comb Russia for suitors for a deal that will see him return to his former base having endured life in Turkey so far.

Completsportsnigeria.com gathered that Emenike’s preference for Russia has to do with his resolve to pick up his nosedived career in a terrain he is familiar with, hence the choice of Russia as his next destination in the summer.

Not less than five offers went up in flames during January transfer window as the former Spartak Moscow striker continued to endure life at Fenerbahce which started since coach Dirk Advocaat took over the reigns at the Yellow and Blue in 2015.

It was reported in Turkey that Advocaat's confidence in the former Nigeria international has waned and has given up hope of securing European suitors.

Emmanuel Emenike first joined Fenerbahce in 2011 from Karabukspor, then had stint with Spartak Moscow before rejoining the Turkish champions in 2013.

Who Is New Super Eagles Invitee Ebere Eze? Five Facts About Ex-Arsenal Youth-Teamer

Queens Park Ranger wonderkid Eberechi Eze will begin training with the Super Eagles in London on Monday, March 27.

Here are five facts about Eze:

1) Eberechi was born on June 29, 1998 to Nigerian parents, a day after Nigeria crashed out of the 1998 FIFA World Cup, losing 4-1 to Denmark in the second round.

2) He did not encounter problems locating the Super Eagles Crowne Plaza Hotel when he visited on Saturday night. A London boy through and through, he has represented clubs based only in the English capital, spending his formative years as a footballer with Arsenal, Fulham and Millwall before he was snapped up by QPR in summer of 2016.

3) Eze began his career as a midfielder before he was converted to a striker and this has paid off big time. The talented teenager is top scorer of Queens Park Rangers U23s this season, with 10 goals to his name from 18 matches.

4) The attacker has made Queens Park Rangers matchday squad three times this season - against Wolves and Burton Albion in the Championship and Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup- and made his professional debut on January 7, 2017 against Hope Akpan’ team.

5) Two months ago, Queens Park Rangers rewarded Eze with a fresh contract that will keep him a the club until the end of the 2018-19 season.

You always yarn dust . Its not like Kelechi has not been playing, rather the appearances has been very little. He is playing in one of the best clubs in the world and still has one of the best game to goal ration in English premiership. Who would you bench Iheanacho for? Kayode,Fenando Adi or Thiago Ilori grin grin

For now,Iheanacho is the best we can offer;however,I agree he need to move around else he will lose his form,so quickly.
I saw that Senegal game and apart from those chances Kelechi wasted he was very lively as always and it was just unfortunate dude didnt score a hatrick. Nacho is still one of the most dangerous hitmen in Eglish soccer,he just missed few chances and that is not enough reason to run him down.

NIGERIA TO PLAY NIGERIA IN LONDON AFTER BURKINA FASO RUNS INTO VISA PROBLEMS

Nigeria will play Nigeria on Monday night in Barnet, north London, after its original opponent Burkina Faso failed to secure visas in time.

Eurodata Sport, the company in charge of organizing the match, told Newsweek that the Nigeria squad would stage a game amongst its own players at The Hive, home of English League Two team Barnet FC.

A statement published on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) website Sunday stated seven Burkina Faso players had been refused entry into the United Kingdom, ensuring the country could not field a full team.

“There is no British Embassy in Ouagadougou, and officials of the Federation Burkinabe de Football had been shuttling between Accra and Ouagadougou for visa processing,” the NFF statement explained. “FBF [Burkinabe Football Federation] sources said the embassy in Accra told them last week to proceed to Morocco where the Etalons [Burkina Faso] played the Atlas Lions [Morocco] on Friday and that the visas would be issued there.

“However, the applications were still pending at the British embassy in Morocco as at close of work on Friday, the last working day before match day in London.

“The Burkinabe Football Federation on Friday, March 24 2017 by 7 p.m. U.K. time telephoned the match organizers to say some of their players and officials were unable to secure entry visas into the United Kingdom and therefore would not be able to honor the match.”

The match was meant as a warmup for Nigeria’s qualifying games this summer for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Nigeria is in London for a two-match tour. Gernot Rohr’s team drew 1-1 with Senegal at The Hive on Thursday evening, with the goal scored by Manchester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho.

Watford winger: 'Success is guaranteed because now they have Success in the team'

DELIGHTED: Isaac Success was thrilled to make his first senior appearance for Nigeria

Watford's Isaac Success reckons 'success is guaranteed' for Nigeria after he made his international debut last week.

The youngster played 30 minute as the Super Eagles drew 1-1 with Senegal last Thursday as part of a young side.

He won the U17 World Cup with Nigeria in 2013 and that team is beginning to make their mark on the senior side, something he's excited to part of.

"These young boys, and I am one of them, they are really hungry to do something," he told BBC Sport.

"We want to do something different, something the fans have not seen in a long time. Success is guaranteed because now they have Success in the team.

"It was a dream come true for me [to make my debut]. I thank God for being here representing my country.

"The energy is there, the mindset of bringing success to Nigeria and to Africa at the World Cup is there.

"I am happy now, I am fit, I am very sharp now and looking forward to the opportunity again."

It is too early to worry about Cameroon, we have games against South Africa first.. Cameroon is not that much stronger than Senegal and we coped well without our strongest team. The only goal scored was off a goalkeeping error

Actually, Senegal outplayed Cameroun in that match, they were just unlucky (or shall we say goal shy). I think we can get result against Cameroun. We just need to win at home and target a draw against them in Yaoundé (or Douala). However, we'd still be on the driver seat even we win at home and lost in Cameroun (or draw home and away).

Good improvising by Rohr, but I am surprised that the NFF isn't able to secure even a 3rd tier English side to play against the Super Eagles.
I am sure that there are dozens of British sides who would jump at a chance to train against the Nigerian national team at a moment's notice. We still have a long way to go sha.

I normally watch a game without national bias for the 2nd and 3rd times. The 1st I can be frantic and be bias. My takings ob the game are as follows:

That was one hell of a boring game on Naija's part. Even the commentator could attest to the countless inaccurate passes and crosses. If CMR catches this team, they would lambast this SE. I used to clamor for the absence of Mikel, but I think I'm beginning to have a rethink. The people's choice - Iwobi - has decided to take his SM career more serious than his footy career. For the past 2 months, Iwobi has been repeatedly playing rubbish. He should be reminded of one certain Emma Frimpong. Can't tell where that guy plays these days. I fear for Iwobi. Infact Iwobi shouldn't start against CMR, that's how widowed I am.

Iheanacho still showed his brilliant movements, but as @Forgiveness said, he was match rusty. The 6 yards miss was what Iheanacho feeds on on a regular day. I'm of the opinion he should get the hell outta Man City to save his career.

The defence can't really pass out, especially Ekong and Omeruo. In fact Troost, although a good defender, "em de select leg". Omeruo always has to float the ball rather than pick out a player with a pass. Overall, the game was not really inspiring till the last 8mins of each half.

I don't know if it's just the commentary plus video settings, but when I watched other friendlies, ours just looked like uncoordinated game of "CHOOSING".

On another note, I like the fact that Rohr called up the foreign born guys in the UK, but can SE be more respected whereby you just don't stroll into the camp at will. If Germany was to play in Weasley, would non-capped players in England just come to the German camp just to felicitate? I follow these guys on Snap and other SM, the amount of faces I see in mufty, is alarming. We can be more coordinated than what I'm seeing.

Initial analysis was on the negatives. On the positives,

Echejile is not giving up that his shirt anytime soon. I don't care if Ola Aina and co come, they'll find out that Elderson may just be a bit much to displace. Very good but underrated player. It seems the only 2 break out stars from that his 2007 under 20 set are degradingly underrated - Efe Ambrose being the other.

Ndidi is one hell of a player. That his octopus leg gives him great advantage. Biased somebori said Idrissa Gana outshine him, I can't recall Naija playing another game with Senegal. Cos the one I watched Ndidi outperformed Idrissa and this is not me being sentimental. Ogu was alright nothing extraordinariè. I was impressed with Success and Kayode. Their movement offered more options in our attack, hence the very enthralling last 8 mins of the game. Kayode may not even be considered as a 9 as most are assuming. Rohr may just use him in the wings due to his speed.

It is very positive to see the intent to play friendlies, but NFF needs to do better with regards to planning. I know Burkina caused d cancellation of the friendlies, but to think that some of our own lauretta missed due to visa shows lack of planning. I may be wrong, but I was under the assumption that the FA makes special arrangements with regards collective Visa approval by obtaining the players Passport ahead of time to apply for the visa at the respective consular. For the past 5 months I've been noticing that it seems like the players go solo in obtaining these passports. If it's the latter then NFF needs to make special expediting arrangements so that these players face no delays. Or better still have the players attempt to collect these visas a month ahead of the game.

is onyedinma based in London?

I like to think Aina is there because he stays around as opposed to those who may have to travel from their residence. It's like expecting someone who plays in Kano to drop by a training in Lagos. A lot of logistics are involved, I doubt Aina sleeps at the hotel with them unless he dey follow Iwobi share bed

From my experience he is there because he is linked in via his Dad, as well as he has been courted by Nigeria for some time. Don't forget that he has known Mikel, Victor for some time. And finally the influence of Emenalo can not be ignored.

Noah Bazee Returns To Hannover Without Training With Super Eagles

Hannover offensive all-rounder Noah Bazee will return to Lower Saxony on Tuesday without taking part in any training session with the Super Eagles,
allnigeriasoccer.com understands.

Days leading up to the start of the get-together in London, the talking point was whether or not he would accept the invitation because he has been struggling with a knee injury for the past three weeks.

The Super Eagles players are impressed with Bazee’s commitment, are surprised that he traveled to the English capital, knowing full well that he’s not in tiptop condition, and pointed out that Chelsea’s Victor Moses withdrew from the squad citing injury.

The 20-year-old didn’t participate in full training on Sunday, the team’sfinal training session before Monday evening’s practice game.

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has stated that Bazee is being treated by national team medics while in camp.

Talented Chelsea Defender Aina Impresses Super Eagles Stars In First Training Session

Chelsea right wing-back Ola Aina is a bonafide national team material, if the stories from the Super Eagles stars in camp are anything to go by.

The ex-England U20 international had his first training session with the Nigerian national team on Sunday, with his proud father watching from the sidelines.

“Ola Aina trained with us on Sunday, he is a very good player. We are happy he is here with us and he is a good player for the Super Eagles, ” a player in camp told allnigeriasoccer.com.

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr was known to be in the hunt for a typical right back ahead of his team’s first competitive game of 2017, an African Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa in June, and the German has found two, Ebuehi and Aina.

Aina will be further assessed by Rohr on Monday evening at the Hive Stadium, when the Super Eagles take part in a practice game among themselves.

Iheanacho Fires Warning To Iwobi, Arsenal Ahead Of Premier League Clash

Kelechi Iheanacho has fired a warning shot to Arsenal ahead of the Premier League meeting between Manchester City and the London outfit at the Emirates Stadium on April 2.

The striker is confident that Manchester City can pick up three points against the Gunners, and says they will fight to achieve their objective.

“We are going to go to the Emirates and fight. We need a win there. It’s a good team, so we need to fight hard to get three points, ” Iheanacho told City official webpage.

“We are in a good situation. We played well against Liverpool and showed good character.

“We defend well, we attack well, but unfortunately we couldn’t win.

“We are in a good position in the Premier League, we keep fighting and focus on the next games.”

Iheanacho, who has scored four league goals this season, could come up against his Super Eagles teammate Alex Iwobi on Sunday.

on your last paragraph. Is there anything wrong with players strolling in, especially as we are looking to win players of dual origins ahead of our competition? Would you rather have our home based fly in, or make quick invitations that can hardly be honored? This is a unique circumstances, we don't always have to compare ourselves to the likes of US, Germany etc in all things to say we are not doing things right, as if they are always right or always have to be the standard. I think it is the right thing to do on our part, as the likes of Bazee, Eze etc will feel more Nigerian after socializing with the main SE boys, and should they be in top form tomorrow and we want to win them over, we will not hear excuses like "I don't feel Nigerian enough" lol

Dedebanky85:

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 5:56pm On Mar 27, 2017
I think the argument between home based vs foreign born is not necessary as long as they identify as Nigerians. Or do some of us just have something against those who were not born and bred in Nigeria. Abi na dem tell their papa where to born them? If Rohr prefers those born abroad and who have developed in a superior football system, let it be so. As long as we are getting results. We have many opportunities to show case our home based players, to see who is really good in the home front. I'm not saying Rohr should not invite home based, i'm saying as long as we are progressing let's not distract him.

I'm actually thinking it should be more coordinated. Do Chelsea or QPR know their players are in the SE camp? I'm looking at the 2 weeks rule here. I have nothing against the foreign born players, I even support thein invite as I feel they better fortify our team. But I hardly want to join FB vs HB eagles arguments as I feel any body with Naija blood living anywhere should be given a fair chance to stake a claim as long as they measure up to standards when invited.

Hmmmm...I just finished watching the full game. Na wa o. So so underwhelming. I could not see why there was so much hype.

This is not a performance to be excited about. But I can forgive this performance because Mikel and Moses were not there.

Defence:
- I have no idea what happened to Ekong and Balogun...the manner with which they misplaced passes is staggering. At times, they simply passed the ball to the opponent...a more clinical team would have buried us. We need to have strong backups.
- Omeruo was disappointing to me. A pacy winger would have torn him to shreds. And that's to add to the fact that he didn't join in the attack.
- Echiejile was impressive. He held his own. He should have gone forward more though.
- Akpeyi: We cannot rely on this guy. I cannot remember a single cross he did not spill. All a team needs is station a player close to him to score the rebounds because he is very prone to dropping balls from crosses. I really don't know what the goalkeeper trainers are doing. At this stage, Akpeyi should not be deputizing for Carl.
Conclusion:Our defence is a cause for concern. We don't have a good backup to Ikeme. And that's a big problem.

Midfield:
- Onazi was average before he went off. There was an incident that caught my eye though. He pushed an opponent in retaliation. In a competitive match, some referees will give a straight red card. Professional players should know better.
- Ogu played his game. No fuss. No flamboyance. Perhaps the coach told him to just stay and strictly shield, he did a yoleman's job.
- Ndidi was rightly the man of the match. He was full of tackling, passes and did play a couple shots that troubled the goal keeper.
- Iwobi was a flop. What did he even do right in that game? Oh, maybe the combination with Simon to free Kelechi for the tap in miss. Other than that, he did nothing. He constantly lost his balls and his passes were abysmal. No one would have predicted he plays for Arsenal.
- Etebo: He played well. He came in for Iwobi and showed him how to play. Not his best game but we will take this one.
Conclusion: We need Mikel. We need Aluko. We need Mikel very much and we miss him so much. No replacement in sight.

Forward:
- Simon: His strongest point is that he can help out the defence. That's quite a surprise because he should be known more for his dribbles, wingplay and crosses. Those were lacking in the game.
- Musa: Musa! I don't think he has a place in this team any longer. You hardly notice he was in the game. The only times he shows up, he is either making wayward crosses or disrupting flow of attack. The only thing that will make him continue this way and still get call ups is federal character. He is no longer a Super Eagles material.
- Kelechi: He needs to leave Man City. It's unbelievable the goals he missed. What surprised me about his game was that the penalty called would not have been given by some refs. From my angle, he fell into the hands of the keeper. The Kelechi I know would have played that ball before the goalkeeper came out. It's difficult to understand this point unless you watch that match. He is match rusty and needs to help his career. Even the commentator could not believe he missed those chances.
- Kayode: For the time he was on the pitch, he was moving. The chance they said he missed was a handball. It was not such a chance. Wished we played with Burkina Faso, it would have been a great opportunity to watch him play more minutes. He would probably be invited again.
- Success: To be honest, I didn't see too much of the hype surrounding his play in this game. He galvanished the attack though and pushed the Senegalese back. I will take him over Musa from this performance.
Conclusion: We need a strong competition for Kelechi. If we don't score goals, we cannot win games.

Assuming this is the last game b4 the SA game, based on what I watched, I'd propose the following team against SA:
GK - Ikeme,
CBs - Leon and Troost (we'd still have to manage them)
RB - Shehu; nobody seems to know this guy is very good at RB. Attacks well, defends ok, and crosses almost accurately.
LB - Elderson, no one comes close to usurping this position.

DM - Ndidi, he's won it as his position now.
CM - Onazi, very agile player. We'd have to just manage his erratic passes.
AM - Mikel, may I not hear Iwobi's name for this position until he let's us know he wants to take his football career more seriously.

LW - V. Moses, since he'd be a winger he better comes from the left as he hardly crosses when playing for Naija
RW - Etebo Knicks it just ahead of Success due to team chemistry and his robustness.

FW - Iheanacho. Despite the stick he's been getting of late, no one comes close to his football IQ. This Bobo has movements in abundance.

This team would match SA speed for speed and over power SA physically.

Are we not aiming for the top 5 or best in the world? grin

Nacho took set pieces after Simon Moses was substituted.

Nacho misplaced passes more....

Nacho is/was not comfortable playing as the striker... You can see he loves coming to the middle and wing.

Manchester City has underutilized his potentials so far.

To whom much is giving much is expected hence my unbiased and humble submission of his game.

Nacho is not a striker.

TheSuperNerd:
oooppss.... published same video.... lemme drop a different one altogether.....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pL4q8dhJnA

He is a s/s or attacking midfielder.

Seeing him moving around in that training tells it all.

How many goals has Kelechi scored as a striker for the Super Eagles? grin

I can authoritatively tell you he has been poor in that position so far.

Since, he has been poor in that position, he can never be considered as the best.

The reason Adi, Abraham, Kayode, Solanke etc should be tried to see if they can be better.

To be continued...

I am not trying to run Samuel down. Wait oooo,

How am I trying to run Samuel down?

Is because I said his final ball is poor?

It is true that his ball is indeed poor and I said the same about Simon.

So, what is my offence?

Moses has scored 3 goals with 4 assists eventhough he has played mostly as a LWB, inaddition to 3 assists in other matches.

Kalu has 2 goals and 3 assists in the league while he has 1 goal and an assist in other competitions. He played majorly as a winger.

Looking at both players, who will a coach go for? grin

Note; Kayode never missed any chance.

Nevertheless, Samuel should be given the chance to prove himself.

O pari

I appreciate this arrangement because Rohr gets to see more of the players on the field. I hope this is the beginning of us using the international break wisely.

Too many Players on the Nigeria team are not match fit. Balogun Ekong, Musa, Kelechi, Success are barely playing. We can see it from their performance in the friendlies. Kelechi would usually bury the chances he missed. Balogun looked like a player just returning from injury. Ekong is not getting games too.. It shows how important competition is.
