Moses out for another 14 days

Chelseaare set to be without their Nigerian flying wingback Victor Mosesfor another two weeks, reportshave said.

Moses limped out of their clash against Manchester United just before the international break, and the injury ruled him out of Nigeria’s friendly game against Senegal.

He was seriously missed by the team last weekend as they slumped to a 1-2 loss to Crystal Palace in the Premier League, which could dent their title challenge.

The Nigerian who is one of the key players in Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 system missed training yesterday, and will most likely be out for a further two weeks.

Already he has been ruled out of their clash against Manchester City today, as he struggles to return from a toe and calf injuries which could require minor surgery to correct.

No,pls go to archive and u w discover that Seoul Olympic football game was not for U23 but purely national team affair.

I know there were certain restrictions maybe not exactly 23yrs. Looking at the Brazilian and Nigerian squads for eg a good number of senior players did not participate. Eg why was Peter Rufai not in goal for Nigeria? Why did senior players like Steven Keshi, Bright Omokaro, and Uche Okechukwu not play?
I know there were restrictions. Well i will check the archives as u advised.

I recall it was initially for armatures until Los- Angeles 84 where professional players were allowed for the first time.

I know for sure it was full U23 at Barcelona '92 anyways.

My brother don't go there oooo. He's going to win Ballon D'Or from the training ground as we have been made to believe. He should take a cue from Niasse, Lukaku, Benteke, and the soon to be departing Sturridge. This football cycle is too short to wallow away in the bench al in the name of being trained by the best. You quickly become irrelevant if you're not playing.

The Under 23 started in Barcelona 92 and three over aged was introduced in Atlanta 96.

It was Los Angeles 84 that professional footballers were allowed to participate with special consideration given to Africa,Oceania,Asia to use full national team players while Europe and South America were banned from using players who had world cup experience.

All this was done to protect d integrity of World Cup coz allowing Olympic football tourney to have full participation of national team players w have negative impact on d World Cup.

So how then do u account for the non-participation of the older senior players in the Super Eagles? It is not completely for the senior team players. I think there were restrictions as per mayb how many senior international matches played or something like that.

if u think the controversial calls are out of error which every human is poor too then y is the referees in the lower league doing their thing with little or less error and as well as less controversies. Apart that if referees are making mistakes every now and then, the LMC should find a criteria which will make only the best referees in the country who has or pass the criteria to be the ones to be at the centre of the matches n not just anyow person.

furthermore I think the fans and the players' descipline has increased and improved this season because if not we would v had incessant crowd troubles with the inconsistencies and poor call we v had.

Remo stars were cheated in Ibadan against 3sc, Rivers also were cheated in Gombe and their players all showed professionalism by moving on with the games

The NNL is run by the same people, the same referee's union oversee the refs in the NPFL.
I am sure alot of teams react well in bad situations but we can't overlook the instances when violence has been directed at referees.
Remo did not get cheated, wrong calls are part of football the loser will always feels sour.
Alot of the away teams that get these calls against them were heading for draws. When u sit back, use delaying tactics and not play football there is a chance that u are leaving the game in the refs hand.

Revealed – Players Rohr Plans To Invite For Future Games Ahead Of MFM Stephen Odey

Despite calls from most Nigerians on coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr to include the top scorer in the Nigeria Professional League Stephen Odey in his plans, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal some other plays are well ahead of him.

A source close to the coach revealed, there are about three players, the coach plan to call up to the team for their next friendly games before the AFCON 2019 qualifiers game against South Africa.

Odey who has 13 goals for modest side MFM FC who are
currently pushing for the league title in Nigeria is surprisingly not on the list of the coach potential invitee at least for now.

” Odey is a forward, Super Eagles are well stocked in that department of the pitch although, we still can’t rule out the invitation of new players for some proposed friendly games”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” Presently I know the coach is looking at three players for future invitation, and they are all forwards. Henry Onyekuru of Eupen, Samuel Kalu of Gent and Kingsley Ehizibue who can also operate as a forward aside his primary role as a full back.

” These players are almost certain to be picked ahead of Odey. Rohr won’t call up a player for the sake of calling a player, not his way. Odey will have to wait for his time”.

England Cry Out – Nigeria Using Russia 2018 World Cup As Bait To Make Players Switch Allegiance

Recent moves by Nigeria to cap the talented duo of Ola Aina and Chuba Akpom who have both represented England at various youth level has dominated discussions in the media.

A member of the English FA Technical department who spoke with Owngoalnigeria.com revealed , the FA are aware of the tricks Nigeria are using on the players.

” It’s a case of using what they can offer in the immediate against the future plans we have for the lads. Wilfred Zaha couldn’t wait for his time with England, now he plays on a regular basis for Ivory Coast.

” Same thing Nigeria are doing with the likes of Aina and Akpom, only in Nigeria’s case, they are using the World Cup 2018 as a bait to lure this players as they are in strong position to qualify.

” These players are guarantee to play at the highest stage of World football with Nigeria in few years time, which might not be the case with us. It’s unfair to us but we can’t help it”, he told Michael James of Owngoalnigeria.com.

Eagles Coach – Home Based Players Not Good Enough For Super Eagles Action

As the debate continue over the none inclusion of home based players in the senior national team of Nigeria under new manager Gernot Rohr, a new dimension has been brought into the drag.

There has been calls for the likes of MFM Stephen Odey who has taken the league in Nigeria by storm with 13 goals this season to be called up to the team.

Salisu Yusuf who acts as one of the assistants of the Franco-German Technical Adviser of the team has revealed that the players presently don’t have the capacity to dislodge the foreign base players ahead of them.

“No player in the NPFL is good enough for the Super Eagles at the moment”, Yusuf said, after he was asked why there were no [outfield] locally based player in the latest [current] national team selection”, he told Lagos Talks 91.3Fm.

Speaking on the Anglo Nigerians who trained with the team in London, the former Kano Pillars boss said they were called up to help the team have two teams for a test game among themselves following the cancellation of the Burkina Faso friendly

“Those players we invited, we invited them because Burkina Faso couldn’t come for the game. We wanted to have a friendly game between us but we didn’t have enough player.”

“So we invited the players closeby with Nigerian citizenship to join us. We didn’t invite them to the National team.”

Onuachu Nets Brace As Midtjylland Edge AaB , Reach Danish Cup Semis

Nigerian forward, Ebere Paul Onuachu, bagged a brace for Midtjylland who beat home side AaB 3-2 to qualify for the semi-finals of the Danish Cup on Wednesday evening, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Onuachu gave Midtjylland the lead in the 22nd minute before making it 2-0 in the 29th minute. It was his 13th goal in all competitions for Midtjylland this season.

Rasmus Wuertz reduced the deficit for AaB when he scored in the 33rd minute.

In the 52nd minute, Filip Novak restored Midtjylland's two-goal advantage.

But in the 77th minute, Kasper Risgaard scored to make it 3-2, but Midtjylland held on to advance into the last four.

Midtjylland have never won the Danish Cup but have finished as runners-up on four occasions (2003, 2005, 2010 and 2011).

I bind and cast out every "spirit" of derailment biko..... grin

Injury Prone Carl Ikeme Could Derail Eagles World Cup 2018 Chances – Ex International Warns Rohr

The current injury woes of the first choice goalkepper of the Super Eagles Carl Ikeme could hamper the Eagles chances of qualifying for World Cup 2018 according to a former Nigeria international.

Emmanuel Babayaro who picked up three caps for Nigeria during the era of Clemens Westerhoff says a suitable back up for the Wolverhampton shot stopper should be the priority for now.

”It’s clear why Rohr still wants Vincent Enyeama. Ikeme has fitness issues, simply put he is injury prone. Remember injury knocked him out of the return leg against Egypt during the qualifiers for the last AFCON.

”Daniel Akpeyi deputised for him in that game, and we crashed out. Ikeme also caused panic when he was ruled out of the Algeria clash in the World Cup 2018 qualifiers, then the Senegal game. I’m afraid you can’t rely on a goalkepper with such injury record.

”We need to groom or search for options who will push Ikeme or come in for him when he is not available. For now with all due respect to Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa they are not at Ikeme’s level”.

Beautiful write-up Sir Tbaba.... but uhmmm Oga Forgiveness is right.... we must add Moses Odubajo and Nura abdullahi to the right back options we have going forward.... smiley

Ehizibue is in Rohr's plans already shaa.... and Rohr is aware of his versatility. wink

Ebuehi is indeed a class act. He will "bulk up" with time shaa. Dude need some gym work.. loll.. Remember Neymar was also very lightweight compared to now... wink

We have numerous quality options at right back and I am afraid Musa Mohammed may find it difficult being part of this Super Eagles now... maybe unless he picks up with time but for now... his days are numbered in the team. Only thing on his side is that he is still young....

tbaba1234:
Right Backs:

Ehizibue
Ebuehi
Aina
Musa Muhammad
Omeruo
Shehu Abdullah

My verdict:

I think we have probably seen the last of Musa Muhammad as a right back in the national team especially with Ebuehi and Aina. Musa Muhammad's case is made worse by the fact that he is not even playing as a right back in his Bosnian club. He came on as a late sub and played left winger again in the last game. Musa needs a good club move to help him bounce back.

I watched Ebuehi this weekend and he was class. What he does not have in physicality, he makes up in pace and technique. Aina is most likely going to take the right back role and Omeruo will be more focused on the CB position. We have certainly missed natural right backs in recent years. awesome.

Shehu Abdullahi can also do a very good job at Right back and at DM.. He even played CB at his club recently. His flexibility makes him an asset.

Ehizibue's capture is cool as well but it is hard to see how much of a role he will play. He might however be considered more physical than Ebuehi.

Ebuehi and Aina can also deputize for Elderson.

Our weakest position at the moment is CB.

Pinnick : Hiring Rohr , Opposing Hayatou In CAF Elections My Biggest Gambles

President of Nigeria Football Federation – NFF, Amaju Pinnick, has revealed that hiring a foreign coach for the Super Eagles and leading the fight to upstage Issa Hayatou as CAF president were two major gambles he has taken in his life as football administrator, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Pinnick told journalists in Abuja Tuesday that in the case of hiring a foreign coach, it was a gamble that would have backfired if the Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr had not justified the huge amount expended on him with excellent results.

"Hiring Gernot Rohr was a gamble we the NFF Executive Committee took to save our national team after local coaches failed to deliver. Rohr has given our football hope with his unbeaten run since he took charge, and it will be mission accomplished when we get a World Cup ticket," Pinnick told Completesportsnigeria.com .

"The other gamble we took was my spearheading the campaign to install a new leadership in CAF. It was a decision by a group who wanted a change from the old tradition of managing the game in Africa. I know the backlash could have been terrible if we had failed, but thank God we succeeded," Pinnick who also won a seat in CAF Executive Committee added.

He continued: "We are now in charge of affairs in CAF, and it can only rub off positively on Nigeria and Africa. Our loyalty to Ahmad Ahmad is 100 percent and by the end of the eight years, we would have taken African football to the next level."

Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham's exploits at Bristol City not going unnoticed at Stamford Bridge

Tammy Abraham has scored 22 goals for Bristol City this season.

Tammy Abraham is loving life at Bristol City, having netted 22 goals this season, and the Blues striker has aspirations of breaking into the first team at Chelsea.

Abraham is to return to the Premier League leaders at the end of the season, and his goal is to continue to impress Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.

His exploits at Ashton Gate have grabbed the attention of those back at Chelsea, with none other than John Terry regularly praising the 19-year-old.

In an interview with FourFourTwo, and as reported by the Bristol Post , Abraham said: "Players like John Terry are always texting me and asking how things are going, or congratulating me about results and goals," said the 19-year-old.

"That's a good feeling, to know all of my Chelsea team-mates are keeping an eye on what I'm doing."

What is less clear is where Abraham will be next season, with a return to City unlikely.

The England under-21 international could well grab the attention of many top flight clubs in the off-season, while a shock move to Galatasaray has also been mooted.

Before that, Abraham will have a pre-season in which to impress Conte and show he is ready to be considered by the Blues.

Presence Of Ola Aina & Tyronne Ebuehi Could Send Musa Mohammed Out Of Super Eagles

As coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr continue his search for options at right back, Musa Mohammed could be the odd man out according to Owngoalnigeria.com Michael James.

James who watched the duo of Tyronne Ebuehi and Ola Aina during the Super Eagles practice session in London reckons they could be the solution to the right back woes of the team.

” Ebuehi is highly technical, forget about what you read about his lack of physical attributes. He makes up for it with a near perfect reading of play and he is a modern day wingback. A cultured Dutch full back”, James wrote.

” The thing I like about Ebuehi is the speed at which he turns defence into attack and his coverage, but that said Aina is a hell of a talent to have at our disposal.

” Tall, quick and very confident. Never shy of getting stuck in, as a matter of fact he loves getting into tackles and in the air boy is very good as well.

” Their emergence will cost some players their spot in the team, particularly Musa Mohammed, for now he is fourth choice right back. Kenneth Omeruo, Aina and Ebuehi are all ahead of him talent wise, he could lose his spot”.

AGENT OF REPORTED ARSENAL TARGET RULES OUT SUMMER EXIT

Wilfred Ndidi’s agent says the midfielder will not be leaving Leicester City this summer, amid reports linking him with a move to Arsenal.

The 20-year-old Nigerian joined Leicester City from Genk for £17million in January and has impressed following the departure of N’Golo Kante last summer to Chelsea.

His performances have reportedly attracted the attentions of Arsenal, Manchester United and Southampton, but his agent claims Ndidi is unlikely to leave the King Power Stadium at the end of the season despite interest in the young midfielder:

“There are many unofficial approaches.

“But he is never going to leave because of the way Leicester players and coaches welcomed and treated him.

“Besides it is normal [to have interest shown]. Southampton never pay big money for players.

“Ndidi was one of the most expensive Leicester signings and that might increase due to league points and championships.”

Arsenal reportedly missed out on signing Kante last summer and opted to recruit Granit Xhaka instead. However, with the Swiss midfielder struggling to adapt to life in the Premier League it seems Arsene Wenger, who looks set to continue on as manager past the summer, is drawing up a list of potential signings this summer and views Ndidi as one that could do a job for the Gunners next season.

Leicester City footballer Ahmed Musa has been arrested on suspicion of attacking his wife.

The Nigerian striker, 24, who cost the Premier League club a record fee of £16.6million, was quizzed by police at his £850,000 five-bedroom home in Countesthorpe, Leicestershire.

Officers swooped at his home on Tuesday night in response to a domestic abuse complaint, just hours after his side's 2-0 win over Sunderland.
