Nice read. However, I think Rohr is missing the point.
First of, I don't think anyone is asking for Odeh to displace a man city striker. What we are asking for is for Odeh to get a call up to train with the team, that camp experience will rub off on him and the Nigerian league. The experience will also prepare him for CHAN.

We all know how Brazil and Argentina set up their players for big European transfers. Using the media and ex players to make lots of noise. What is wrong in using the national team to boost the profile of Odeh in other to set him up for a transfer?
Who knows, this same Odeh could be a very important player for us in the future. His records so far is un paralleled.

The NFF will pay Visa fee and buy flight tickets both at this current exchange rate plus camp and other allowances just for him to train with the team in London.

E be like say you forget say recession reach every where.

Even if i had an opportunity to pick a young player to train with the Eagles it won't be Odey.

If it turns out he becomes an asset in the future. Then it is money well spent.
Nothing wrong in spending money to mould a player. Brazil did that with Kaka in the Korea Japan world cup.

Which young player have an exceptional record better than Odehs?

Hot In Demand Celtic Target Onyekuru Coy On Borussia Monchengladbach Links As Liverpool Withdraws Interest

The future of Eupen Nigerian forward Henry Onyekuru will be decided by his club and advisers according to the player in an exclusive interview with Owngoalnigeria.com.

A failed target for Scottish side Celtic during the January transfer window, he is also high on the priority list of Russian side CSKA Moscow as exclusively reported by this portal last year.

However, we gathered English Premier League giants Liverpool have pulled out from the race to sign the forward cum winger as manager Jurgen Klopp wants to strengthen other areas of his team.

Onyekuru was asked by our correspondent if there’s substance to talks about a move to Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach, and the 19 year old who has 14 goals in the league this summer failed to deny or confirm the rumours.

”Summer is around the corner, so no need to confirm or deny any story. For now my goal is to help Eupen achieve their goals this season via the play-offs. I’ve heard about interest from Germany but it’s not for me to speak or decide”, Onyekuru said.

”My club and my advisers will decide on the best offer for me, if am to leave Eupen in the summer. For now I am fully settled here but you never know. Things can change quickly especially in football”.

Chelsea Aina, Arsenal Akpom Poised To Make Nigeria Debut Against Burkina Faso On May 26

Chelsea defender Ola Aina and Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom are in line to make their international debut for the Super Eagles when they tackle Burkina Faso in a friendly on May 26, according to Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr.

The former England youth internationals trained with the Nigerian national team in March, took part in a practice game between Team A and Team B at the Hive Stadium, and they impressed the coaches during their audition.

“We have seen the likes of Ola Aina, Tyronne Ebuehi Bazee, and Chuba Akpom in London, ” Rohr said on SuperSport Monday night show.

They all trained with us and we hope to have them in camp in France ahead of the Nations Cup qualifier against South Africa.”

The international friendly between Nigeria and Burkina Faso would have taken place on March 27, but the Stallions pulled out of the game because they had challenges obtaining UK visas for players and officials.

The door is always open for the best players. #NPFL players must prove themselves with the CHAN team first. I hope that Stephen Odey can get better because I have a @ManCity striker in my team. At the moment we're a winning team, so the #NPFL players must prove they deserve a place in the team. The problem before the Algerian game was becasue the #NPFL players were on break, so we couldn't tell about their form. There is an existing problem with Nigerian based players. We cannot tell their real age. We've not been lucky enough to play many games, so we have to talk with the players and keep in touch. We've committed time in finding full backs. We have an option in Ola Aina of @ChelseaFC , who has committed to Nigeria. We have Tyrone, Madu who may have game time issues, but we're working to get more options. I am confident we can get players. We've made contact with Top executives in the German FA about a friendly, so we could play them. Not everything is about money. I have a good working relationship with @thenff , I have good players too. My assistants are scouting the #NPFL, Imama may have enough time now, we are following the league. I work more for my assistants than I do for myself. They have families and of course they'll be worried if they don't get paid. We have a technical committee that is doing everything to make sure we do well. Nigeria needs more academies, less synthetic pitches. Nigeria is the biggest football nation in Africa, given the passion.

lol for your mind now. just kidding. which brings me back to the easiest way to ruin this "Yak Syndrome" our npfl players are known for. i.e clubs must initiate age grade feeder teams like in europe, that way even a fan can know how old yakubu would be in theyear 2044, thus no chnace for fooling. and if yak syndrome comes up aka age not proving the real age. we would now how to look such a person. grin grin glad we having so many new faces. let these guys once so comfortable, know how it will be henceforth when a smaller boy snatches up your so called experienced position combined with fans chanting his name.

WATFORD STRIKER OKAKA PRAISES NIGERIAN FORWARD SUCCESS

Watford's Isaac Success

Nigeria international and Watford FC striker Isaac Success has been urged to continue working hard by his club teammate Stefano Okaka.

Success, who joined Watford from Spanish side Granada at the beginning of the current season, has found it difficult to establish himself at the English Premier League (EPL) side thus far.

His teammate Okaka believes that the 21-year-old centre forward is a talented young player, who has the ability to take his game to another level if he continues working hard.
"Success is a talented player," Okaka told Hertfordshire Mercury.

"He's young, and not playing every day - coming into this type of game is not easy.

"He needs to work, but he can carry on at this level and can go up to a very high level too."
Success has made 17 appearances in the league for the Hornets this seasons - netting once against AFC Bournemouth last December.

Okaka, a 27-year-old former AS Roma and Sampdoria centre forward, born in Castiglione del Lago, Umbria, Italy to Nigerian parents.

His parents later obtained Italian citizenship and Okaka is now an Italy international - having made his debut against Albania in 2014.

Enyimba FC defend Ghana goalie Fatau Dauda over reports of punching a ball boy

Enyimba's Fatah Dauda

Nigeria Professional Football League side Enyimba FC have rubbished reports that their shot stopper Fatau Dauda punched a ball boy during the league game with Katsina United insisting they are lies perpetrated to tarnish the image of the player.

The Nigerian giants added that the reports were just sensationalized to appear differently from what actually happened and that accusing Fatau Dauda of igniting the violence of their fans by punching the ball boy is false and a misrepresentation of facts.

Katsina United reported after the game that the Ghana goalie punched the ball boy who collapsed and was rushed to the hospital.

But the former CAF Champions League winners in a statement have rubbished the reports claiming Katsina United are just being mischievous and cynical with the whole drama.

“Having reviewed the match tape of the incident involving Enyimba goalkeeper Fatau Dauda and a ball boy in the 84th minute of the Match Day 18 of the Nigeria Professional Football League fixture against Katsina United we conclude that Dauda simply sought, in the aftermath of Katsina United’s second goal, to retrieve the ball from the ball boy in order to facilitate a quick restart,” a statement on Enyimba FC’s website read.

“Dauda only knocked the ball out of the grasp of the ball boy, who had clasped the ball to his midriff to prevent access to it.

“Dauda did not punch the ball boy, as alleged by the home side, and contrary to widespread reports.

“He did not assault or beat up the ball boy in question, let alone to the “point of coma” as some sensationalist reports have purported,” they explained.

“This misrepresentation of facts; that the action of goalkeeper Dauda is somehow responsible for the brutality meted out to our players and officials is not only disgraceful, but unacceptable.

“Such violence has no place in our league and we maintain our call for strong sanctions against Katsina United,” the statement concluded.

Katsina United won the game by a 2-1 score line and vented their spleen on the visiting side with some reports revealing the two sides had a previous grudge and Fatau couldn’t have been the cause of the violence.

My take has been "Boycott as Arsenal games until Wenger leave". When the board starts counting losses tell me how they wont sack Wenger.
they didnt think of that. imagine walcott blasting his teammates after yesterays match. well my own take is that iwobi is safe and akpom must to up that his game cos he doesnt seem near first 11 yet

Coach Rohr mentioned Nura Abdullahi in his chat with Monday night football on super sports yesterday according to news reports....

He has Tyrone Ebuehi, Ola Aina and also a Moses Odubajo (still out injured) all in the bag.... and as fine options in the full back roles but he still has eyes on Nura. That says a lot. He is looking for the best among them as time goes on so that he will know those who will play back-up and those who will be the main-stays.

I believe he has eyes on Jordan Torunarigha and Felix Uduokhai also because I was really stunned he could go as far as Italy to mention Nura at Roma. I thought he's been forgotten.

Rohr got Noah Bazee.... so I believe Jordan and Felix are next from Germany. He is just kinda keeping it all low-key... wink

Iheanacho’s Goal Against Southampton Selected As Goal Of The Day By Man City

Manchester City have reminded followers of the club about the goal scoring abilities of out of favour striker Kelechi Iheanacho following the selection of his goal as goal of the day.

Iheanacho’s goal against Southampton in 2016 when he broke into the first team of the Etihad outfit was picked as goal of the day in the game which Man City lost 2-4.

The goal was a magnificent curler into the top corner of Fraser Forster goal, leaving the shot stopper with no chance 12 minutes to the end of the game.

City posted the video of the goal on their official website after a comment which reads ” It was a wonderful goal that offered further evidence of Iheanacho’s goalscoring ability”.

Stanley Amuzie Puts In Fine Performance For Sampdoria, Spezia Tahir Maigini Earns Positive Review In Primavera Game

Super Eagles fringe left back Stanley Amuzie did his chance of making his first team bow for Sampdoria with a strong showing for their Primavera side in a League game against Spezia.

Signed in the summer after starring for Nigeria at the Olympics in Rio, where Nigeria won bronze, the nearly six feet tall left back has failed to progress at the Serie A side as expected.

Amuzie is yet to play for the first team, although he has made the bench for some of their games. He has however grown into one of the main stay of the Primavera side in the Campionato Primavera Girone A.

Last weekend he earned a rating of 7 out of 10 in their 1-1 draw against Spezia, after a commanding performance at left back, where he was a link for his side in turning defence into attack.

Very noticeable with his headband on, he twice delivered pin point balls across the goal of the opponents but none of his teammate was close to turning the ball in.

However, Spezia’s Nigerian midfielder turn central defender Tahir Maigini was rated the best defender on the pitch, with the former Rijeka trainee earning a rating of 7.5.

Eagles Latest “Oyibo” Ebuehi Rated Best Defender In Dutch League Game

Super Eagles right back Tyronne Ebuehi was rated the best defender by whoscored.com as his team ADO Den Haag edged a seven goal thriller 4-3 against FC Groningen in the Dutch Eredivisie.

The highly rated 20 year old is expected to make his debut for Nigeria next month, in a friendly game against a yet to be announced team pledged his allegiance to Nigeria ahead of the Netherlands where he was born and brought up.

Ebuehi got a rating of 7.5 over 10, the highest among all the defenders on the pitch for both sides, a further confirmation of his improvements the last 12 months.

Overall he was rated as the fourth best player on the pitch, in the game which he won three tackles, completed one dribble and also made vital interceptions when providing cover for the full backs.

So far he has made 25 league appearances for ADO Den Haag, three games short of double the amount of game he played last season, and he has a goal to his name as well unlike last season where he had none.

I totally understand what you're saying regarding Oxlade. He's not a flashy player but be works for the team. He reminds me of a former Super Eagles player - Garba Lawal. However, the point I was trying to make is that if you're looking at potentials, there's much more upside to Iwobi's game compared with Ox. And in spite of the fact the entire Arsenal squad has underachieved this season, the two Alexs' - Iwobi and Sanchez - have played comparatively very well.

So why would Wenger decide to suddenly demote Iwobi just because Denny Welbeck is back from injury? This is a man (Wenger) grasping for straws. The team isn't playing well and his first instinct is to pick on the African and make an example out of him! And by the way, he used to pull the same crap with Kanu Nwankwo as well.

In those days, Kanu was one of the best players at Arsenal but he always finds himself on the bench while less talented players like Sylvain Wiltord (and even Reyes) would often start. The case of Wiltord starting over Kanu was so unexplainable that we used to call it "The French Connection". But that was during the time of the invincible and Wenger was like a demi god and everybody was too scared say anything negative about him.

Anyway, the point I am trying to make is that the African guy always gets criticized whenever things go sour. And I have been there, so I know what I am talking about. I mean, I am speaking from experience here. Back in college, I would always get blamed whenever we lose. I might score two goals but if we lose the coach would ask me why I didn't score three! Sounds bizarre but it's true....because I lived it!

O pari

komekn:

I find this interesting.

I have two views of football the pragmatic results orientated hard work and endeavour approach. Which is essentially the English approach.

And my preferred technical biased and flare approach. Which is the more Continental and indeed African approach. The marriage of athleticism and techniquefor me is the way modern football is progressing.

I have said this before my preference becomes irrelevant in matching players to clubs in England.

Quite some time ago we had a discussion on the player with the higher rating in England. I explained that it was Ox and that Iwobi was some places behind him. And of course that word was brought in to qualify my assertions and dismiss them. That word was BIASED it was stated in the context that I support all things English and dislike all things Nigerian.

That action of demotion is limited vindication, however, the issue may be about attitude. Iwobi has not achieved anything yet and I hear rumours of lack of focus and indiscipline which are not corroborated they are just rumours. However, it may explain the current situation, Iwobi is a definite first team player. Maybe it is designed to get him back on track.

Considering the Ox I personally think his delivery outcome particularly where are goals are concerned is very poor. However, that's not the complete story he drives Arsenal forward and bring real quality and competitive edge to the team. Statiscallly poor but as a team player he injects much energy into the side. If only he could remain injury free.

Nonetheless, Iwobi can still move forward if he can learn his lessons and not believe his own hype. Get focused, be more disciplined and push his career forward.

Oga no be so, CHAN qualifiers are in August. There will even be friendlies before then so why the excuses? The point Sir Goldfish made was a great one, why can't we hype our own? What is wrong with building his profile? This is a chance for Rohr to raise the profile of our leagues. I feel like that should be part of his job, not just to go watch and tell us they are not better than Man city players or they are old men. We didn't need him to come from Germany to tell us that, we already know that and we are looking for a way forward.

Organizers can't rate their own players or give them chances in the Super eagles. This is what i mean by raising profile. What is wrong with Rohr just giving the best a chance. We are not asking for the whole league but when a player has more goals than any Nigerian in the world at the least more good words should be said. It sounded like he was brushing Odey off and I don't like that one bit, he might be a coach but me i'm also not blind i can see the quality the boy has.

If Nigerian clubs do well on the continent, the players will make names for themselves. The Enyimba team that won the champions league back to back became popular around the continent. The national team is for the best Nigerian players, not to boost anyone's profile.

Salisu stated there are currently no league players ready for the eagles. If anyone should know, It is Salisu. He has worked closely with many of these players. Rohr also watched Odey live and did not sound too convinced. He has asked the local players to prove themselves in CHAN. Win CHAN and they boost their own profiles.

You know know say him na oga experience?

There are so many hidden talents in our land that need just small chance to be better than Kelechi Iheanacho and co.

Verdict: There is no crime in calling Odeh to the Super Eagles.

Odey will get his chance. Let him start showing his quality at a higher level.
