I just finished seeing the documentary of the Nigerian Airforce. Wise work and projects at hand. They are preparing for the expansionn of accommodating people into the force. The Army is expecting over 100k but no word on preparations for that neither has the Navy started anything. Correct me if i am wrong. The Army needs to step up not just in PR. I mean we have how many phd holders in the army do they just come back home and do nothing? The Air chief said" they bring those that are through with their phd's or masters put them with research teams not just from the airforce but from Nigerian Universities". They signed over 15 MoU's with different institutions thats highly commendable. I dey hear say them try before now i have seen it with my eyes dem no try they have been the best so far.

WILLING, ABLE, READY.

Yes why is he replying to them?

It would be better to make ludicrous statements and try to pass them off as fact (by ignoring all criticism)

Jesus christ, you need to get over your issues with South Africa. Its fvcking pathetic.

This shooting range is a waste of money.
In fact it should be privatized and the FG can make N3million a month for it.

Ratel ZT3.

While I always liked the Ingwe missile, its usefulness (like all ATGMs) is limited when fighting in thick bush.

In Angola, for instance the Ratel ZT3s were only able to engage the Angolan T-55s when they briefly came out into the open on a flat flood plain. They would've destroyed a hell of a lot more tanks than those initial three otherwise.

The inefficiency of long range ATGMs in this terrain, as well as the relatively close quarters of engagement, mean that RPG type weapons or direct fire from cannon are practically the only way for ground forces to kill tanks in the particular environment type.

The 4th Seamanship Intake Graduate
The much anticipated 4th intake graduation was finally here.21 April 2017 marks the day when the 2016/2017 seamanship intake officially graduate from a six month course of theoretical and practical training. with two groups consisting of 188 graduates, all were looking smart in their international sailor attire known as "Capote" in the Portuguese language. indeed the day was bright and the graduates stood on the parade with great pride. Being addressed by the Officiating Officer Rear Admiral Peter Hafeni Vilho the 188 men and women were officially declared proud, professional and committed sailors. In his speech, the admiral emphasized on hard work, self development and working experience amongst other crucial matter. He also wished well all the graduates and gave them a job well done remark. the event also showcased the award ceremony for graduates who excelled well during training, which is held at Rooikop,NTS (Naval Training School) and the family members of the graduate were given a moment to congratulate in person. It was with the Naval band which closed off the ceremony with an instrumental that gave graduates morale march off passing the Dias for general salute with pride

Of course, and I certainly wasn't trying to imply otherwise.

Where I used to live in the Free State (just northeast of Odendaalsrus) the terrain was extremely arid and flat. A Ratel ZT3 would be invariably more useful there than in say, the Angolan bush.

Even more so in parts of the Northern Cape and Namibia where it's much more sparsely vegetated.

I was merely pointing out that's why the Ingwe wasn't used with more success during Ops Moduler, Hooper, and Packer.

I have always held that by studying the battles and tactics of the past we can learn a lot for the future. There is no reason that the lessons of the Angolan war cannot be applied to any other modern conflict.

I did not personally serve in the SADF but I have nothing but the utmost respect for those that did. smiley

Cash rich countries can spend up to 20 percent of GDP on defence. For Nigeria 2 per cent of GDP expenditure on defence would make us the highest defence spender in Africa. That should be the goal.

Specializing the armed forces from just an Army that was centered around 6 to 8 Bn's (8000 men) led to an approved force structure of about 20000 according to public finance reports(likely to keep up with Botswana IMO also), rebuilding of SADF era bases which are dilapidated plus the acquisitions that go along with such an expansion....the budget has been reduced during the past two years thou wink..84% of the budget is spent on personnel, 8% on Goods and Services and another 8% on Development shocked
