Thanks.

And yeah, you're right about the version of the English test to take.
We only pointed out the fact that the Academic version is accepted as opposed to an earlier post that claimed otherwise.

praiseisgood:
Congrats to @ catchdwind4rmkd. The good Lord will perfect that which He started.

On the type of IELTS to take, I think it depends on the assessing body.

Thanks, I'd wait then.

IMO, I would say wait a few days after your medicals so that they would have uploaded it.

It's sad to read.

Anyways, IMO, you should be fine on your own if you can meet the below:

1. OND/HND - 10 points
2. Age - 30 points (if you're younger than 33yrs old)
3. English - 20 points (if you can achieve minimum band 8 in English. This shouldn't be a problem since you're willing to sit for any exam)

Total - 60 skilled points unless I'm missing something.

My fear, however, is your course of study. It sounds more Petroleum Engineering than Chemical Engineering. You may want to verify that as Petroleum Engineering is currently not an eligible occupation.

I don't have enough information on TRA, so I may not have provided a suitable advice. Hopefully, someone more vast in the subject would respond to you soon. Cheers.

sorry to ask, could there be a positive assessment without work experience?

@RealChinaza,

As much as everybody is willing to help you, there is little we all can do.

The suggestion you made is alright but I don't think it is something that can withstand the test of time. If a single guy consents to it, the law sees you as couple, he wouldn't be able to marry except you go through the process of divorce. That can only be done in the jurisdiction where the marriage was conducted.

Had it been chemical engineering has alternative for technician or draftsperson like other Engineering profession, you would have used it.

If you have the money, get on board under student visa and work your way to PR.

You are in a state of vulnerability, you need to exercise patience and take caution to prevent making a destiny wrecking decision.

Goodluck to you sis.

Thanks @ Bellong.

But the thing is that I can't afford the money needed for undergraduate. My family is not that buoyant. It all depends on any guy who wants to help me and the time frame between which the person intends to get married.
Life is all about risks, as long as it is not a real marriage, there's nothing too bad about getting a divorce for a marriage that never took place.
One of my cousins married his sister here, and took her to Canada. When he was ready to marry he divorced and got married in Nigeria here and took his wife.
Till today his sister is still there with her kids.
I can't just seat at home wasting my life. No jobs in Nigeria for now, and we don't know when one can get anyone.
Please if no anybody encourage them to help me. I beg,
Thanks again.

Life is all about risks, as long as it is not a real marriage, there's nothing too bad about getting a divorce for a marriage that never took place.

Life is all about risk but the risk must be legally and morally justifiable. This is not what I can call help but trying to undermine a system which is moral irresponsibility. Marriage should not be denigrated to the level people can get on and get off at will. I do not belong to the school of thought of "the end justifies the means". I am particular about the means to which you arrive at your end. My sister, this desperation may land you in trouble. What you need is to put yourself together, find alternative legal means of achieving your aim. I will not be a party to this type of plan.

The country may be bad but it doesn't mean that the country is hopeless and you wouldn't make a breakthrough. What I believe you need at this stage is hope and believe in yourself while trusting God, who can do all things to help you out. No man holds the key to anybody's destiny and there can be an oasis in the desert. Your present situation may be frustrating but it is not permanent, it will soon pass.

One of my cousins married his sister here, and took her to Canada. When he was ready to marry he divorced and got married in Nigeria here and took his wife.
Till today his sister is still there with her kids.

The fact that he did it years ago and was "temporarily" successful with it doesn't make it right. Determine to get to your destination using the right channel and you will surely get there. Whatever we sow in life, we will surely reap. You will not be there when your cousin and his sister get to reap the fruits of their seed.

I can't just seat at home wasting my life. No jobs in Nigeria for now, and we don't know when one can get anyone.

Yes, you can't just sit at home, that's why you need to go out of your house, hit the street and do anything legal to make an income. My philosophy is "there is dignity in labour". No matter what you do as long as you don't steal or defraud people, it is a worthwhile venture to put food on the table. A lot of people refused to get dirty because of the opinions of myopic few. If you care not to mind what people say, you will be able to get your hands dirty to make ends meet. Little drops of water make a mighty ocean. A giant step begins with a leap. Start something, no matter how little, the Lord will make it great for you. Keep pushing on and you will sure get there.

Please if no anybody encourage them to help me. I beg,
Thanks again.

My encouragement is that you do it right. Follow due process to achieve your dream. Your situation may seem hopeless to you but be thankful for the gift of life. Some people are praying to have the challenges you have to escape theirs. Your situation is not and will not be permanent. Keep keeping on.

As you already know, it depends on your job descriptions and the occupation's JD.

ICT support officer is more about IT troubleshooting in offices like installing softwares, hardwares, formatting systems, antivirus etc.

Hello Mr belong & everyone... trust u all doing great... been an off and on person on this thread as I feel its a cumbersome process back then which requires a lot of finances to make it become reality. oh well I chickened out back then because I had no funds to carry on this process and no job experience per say.. but with the Glory of God, I have some lil work experience teaching @ a college in South Africa (2years & 2months)... I recently did a free evaluation with delta immigration to peruse my chances of making the required points for my desired subclass i.e 189 but it seems I might in reality be short of points from the evaluation which is 60points... this is a breakdown of my points

N.B my assessing body is AITSL for skilled occupation SEC SCH TEACHER

Age - 30points
Qualifications - 15
IELTS in view - realistically as an objective person from all studies on many forum I feel I can only make 10points on this. ALSO CONSIDERING MY PRACTICE RESULTS THAT I HAVE DONE... having a band of 8(superior English) in all bands to get 20points might be tough one so I already realistically scored myself (10 points)
Experience : 0 points

TOTAL= 55POINTS

pls my query to everyone with suggestions is this.... the agency where I did a free evaluation put something in perspective for me i.e I might be able to get 5points for work experience in 10months time having just worked for 2years and 2months as at now. but the reality is I have a one year experience from NYSC when I did my nysc, teaching in a secondary school but as we all know I don't have a concrete evidence to show for this asides my NYSC certificate which does not even indicate my place of primary assignment.

so pls guys I really wanna commence with all but I feel I might only make 55 points for now.. but If i can claim experience from my nysc WHICH I DONT KNOW HOW, it will give me 3yrs+ experience hence giving me 5points and me scoring 60points pass mark required. alternatively, if I wait 10months more I will have 3yrs experience @ my current work place and bag me 5points but like I said I wanna start this process now so the waiting game for me is not an option.

pls guys advice me on how I can or how possible to claim work experience with NYSC ( I only have my nysc certificate) ??

I am baba ijebu and I don't want to start wasting money on assessments that wont come out positive

Thanks guys

@ Bellong

Thanks a lot, I'm grateful.
Try out other legal means.
You know sometimes the destiny delays for two long especially when you are from the less income home. I currently work as a sales girl now, imagine all the struggle in school to get a good result, but now it seems like a wasted effort, just tired. How am I supposed to achieve my dreams and help my family like this.

@ catchdwind.

I studied in Petroleum Training Institution,
So Petroleum and Gas processing Engineering is the same as chemical or process engineering.
Because it's a petroleum training institute most of the coursses are named after the school.
But if you go to the school and ask of Chemical engineering they will bring you to my department, and everything we studied was pure chemical, in fact only one borrowed petroleum engineering course in ND 1.

The industries understand sha.

Thanks for your advise .

I wish there was a lasting solution to my quest.

Do you have your monthly clearance letters? maybe it will help. Then maybe posting letter also stating how much nysc was paying. This is my opinion tho, if its possible, good.

@ shineforth, I think your best shot is to opt for state nomination in order to increase your chances by 10 points, even at that i think your kind of profession (teaching i presume) requires that you have 20 points in the english test, except it has been changed recently. So i ll advice that you intensify your preparations for ielts "never say never", you can still make it.

thanks for the response ... honestly I only have my certificate to prove.. my NYSC was concluded in 2009 and out of ignorance AND Negligence, I didn't keep records of those things u mentioned. only my certificate was priceless to me. Had it been I served in lagos or south west.. it would have been easy to mayb go to the school to dig some records but I was posted to a remote village in Enugu.. cant even rem a bit of what the location looks like again. sigh!!

@timex thanks for the response as well... is it not state nomination that will require u show proof of funds running into thousands of dollars as part of its requirements? .. am more oriented with subclass 189 but open to more alternatives so far its not required I prove I have thousands of dollars in my account.

and for the teaching AILTS requires I have band 7 for both reading and writing then 8 for both listening and speaking .. that's what they accept to get a + assessment from them... but if one can get a band 8 in all ..it more to ones advantage

60 points is d minimum points needed and that was the lowest point score for those invited to apply for subclass 189 in d latest invitation round
