Exclusive – NFF Turn Down Request From South Africa To Shift AFCON 2019 Qualifiers



The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) says the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers date of June 10 won’t be shifted despite a request from South Africa for the tie to be moved forward.


Reports has it that, the South Africa Football Association (SAFA) wants the tie to be brought forward to enable them fix a friendly game before their players depart to their respective clubs.


However according to a big wig of the NFF, the request from SAFA is best described as dead on arrival, because the football house has planned it programme for the tie.

” We had from 5-10th as possible dates, and only after due deliberation did we decide on 10th as the date for the game, we won’t shift or alter our plans to accommodate a late request”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” As host of the game, the decision to shift the tie or not lies in our hands, and we have decided to stick by our date. It’s not going to change for any external reason”.

Is it everyone that has a poor agent? It shows that the recent stories about rejecting trial with Genk and contract offers from different countries are false. It was obviously put in the news by agents to increase interest in their player.

Chisom- Trial - Sweden
Odey- Trial - Denmark

In the same period, we have had youngsters signing for Serie A clubs and top clubs in Holland, Belgium and Portugal.

If League players are more expensive why are swedish clubs going for them and not italian, germany or Dutch sides

Nigeria international Alex Iwobi asked Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to allow him play for the development team of Arsenal following his recent lack of first-team opportunities.

The Hale End Academy product was a surprise inclusion in the starting XI when the U23s tackled Reading in Premier League 2 on April 10, and it has now come to light that he requested to feature in that game.

“It was Alex himself who suggested to the manager that he should be allowed to play for the U23s so as to maintain his match fitness,” a source close to the player told SCORENigeria.
Iwobi has not been utilized by Arsenal coach in the team's last six games in all competitions.

Ola Aina should be released to join the camp jor.. He is unlikely to be in the match day squad for the FA cup final or he will just be on the bench. I understand that he has officially written to NFF for a nationality change so that should happen quickly.

It is good chance for the home based players to stake a claim . It will be nice to see the progress of Muazzam and whether the MFM duo can raise their level but i do not expect any to make the match day squad against South Africa.

Onyekuru could finally be making his debut. Young stars like Ebere Eze and Osimhen also get the opportunity to train with the first team but i do not think both will be making the final squad either. I am impressed with what i have seen of Ebere Eze, looks like a real talent.

Alampasu and Emmanuel daniel for Akpeyi and Ikeme. I feel Daniel is better than both Ezenwa and Akpeyi so he gets another chance to stake a claim.

I pray English FA, FiFA, and NFF fast track Aina switch...his decision to play for us will help get other Chelsea Nigeria players like Tammy and the young 18 years old currently making waves...

we all know the best teams are two (Kano Pillars and Enyimba) the few others that av won it in the last ten years are just bayelsa united, rangers and heartland

3. This can be resolved by better structures, management and officiating. We could have regional leagues and then a play-off in Uyo or Abuja.

4. Part of the restructuring should include the integration of real youngsters in the league to revitalize it. The LMC under 15 tournament is a step in that direction.

5. Then of course, we have to improve the image of the league so that clubs send scouts down, instead of all the Trials. We can make use of our relationship with La liga to invite scouts for the super four or something like that.

6. Educational seminars for players by experienced players on signing professional contracts to help them make informed decisions.

I think the problem is one's experience changes their outlook. For many girls, just because of a bad experience in the past, they do not give another guy the same chance they gave the previous. This good guy (presumably) now experiences a bad girl with our context in mind. And the good guy now becomes a bad guy to the next.. Really we are all in this together like a chain reaction. the girls who still spend thier money on guys in schools these days are probably those that did not have a bad prior experience. However, the general saying these days is find where the money is first then maybe love later.
People these days are looking for money, their perception of beauty etc above things that are really concrete. And hoping that somehow it will turn out to be love. ur no 4 x really needed for the Federation's cup no sponsors, outdated format and poor financial reward, it's really bad. the only thing needed to be restructured in the league x the schedule, u can't squeeze 3 games in one week now expect the travelling team to perform. The LMC has done fantastic job in the league so far, only 3 set of ppl are spoiling their works are

1. the referees 2. the club's management n officials and 3. violent fans
