If u knew MFM didn't know where Odey was, why did u try to absolve the agent of the blame? U know that if the agent is not to blame then it must be the player. U can act like u are doing a good service but i can see thru that one easily.
Forget the details of Ndidi's move the point is that we are in the NPFL transfer break right now.

Honestly i want to ask why u have a problem with the progress of Nigerian based players? Is it that u don't see them as humans? U went as far as posting wat some goof had to say, like that is pure hate if u ask me.
You just realised tbaba1234 hates NPFL homebased players? I take it that it is one of his guilty pleasures taking shots at NPFL whenever he can.

Good morning

When people start attacking personalities instead of issues, you know they can not defend their positions. And this is not the first time, you have done so.

My Criticism is borne out of a desire to see improvements. I have not only criticized, i have made constructive suggestions on how to improve the league.

Instead of having constructive engagement, your conclusion is that "He hates the NPFL players". On what basis, should i hate anyone?

I think i have seen enough over more than 2 decades of actively following the league to make valid contributions.

Your digs at the NPFL players and the league itself is not subtle, rather it is as clear as daylight.

I am not sure anyone here will argue that the NPFL is the best league in the world, but when you go out of your way to post comments from Twitter in an apparent mockery of the league (you have done this repeatedly in the Odey super eagles invite saga), one need no prophet to tell him that you are out to tarnish the NPFL products just so you can have a laugh.

Recall when you called Chisom Egbuchulam (25yr old) an old man? When we both know deep down that he's about the same age as Wilfred Ndidi.

Also recall when you tried to argue out the bare faced fact that Odey was the highest scoring Nigerian player this year? You mentioned Paul Onachu and Henry but when I asked you how many games it took them to score those goals you became silent. There goals weren't even in thia calendar year.

Also recall when you went on about the NPFL teams not doing well on the continent hence NPFL players don't deserve a call up to the national team. I asked you the last time Belgium produced a team that went to the later stages of the Champions league, how about the last time a Dutch team made I to the quarter finals of the champions league? Does it mean, players from those leagues shouldn't be invited to the national team? Am still to get a reply from you on those questions.

You said I attacked your personality because I called you out for being anti NPFL. A fact which any intelligent fellow will figure out just reading a few lines when talking about npfl.

Rohr Expresses Concern over Musa’s Frame of Mind
By Olawale Ajimotokan in Abuja

Gernot Rohr

Super Eagles Franco-German Coach, Gernot Rohr, has expressed concerns that the Super Eagles Assistant Captain, Ahmed Musa, is not psychologically ready for the forthcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier against South Africa in Uyo next month.

The coach, according to decent sources at the Glass House in Abuja, echoed this sentiment while exchanging perspectives with officials of the Technical Department of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) ahead of the Group E match against South African on June 10.

The tactician’s major worry is that the winger has been unsettled by private issues outside the football field, wondering that such could potentially distract him and affect the fortunes of the team.

Rohr wants all his players to give 100 per cent to the national cause against the Bafana Bafana next month and is bothered if Musa will rise to the moment in view of the prevailing situation.

The Leicester forward has been trending in the social media after coming under scrutiny since the middle of last month when he was alleged to have divorced his wife and mother of his two children, Jamila, and revealed plans to marry a second wife.

Before that drama bludgeoned, reports claimed he was invited and detained by the Police, who raided his home in the UK, after neighbours complained of domestic violence and abuse.
NFF issued a rebuttal in support of Musa, while the player even threatened to institute litigation against the source of the reports.

But it emerged last night that Rohr is not too pleased with the saga and the fact Musa sought and got permission from him to leave the Eagles camp in London, when Nigeria played Senegal in a friendly on March 23, for the introduction to his new bride, Juliet in Lagos on March 25.

The coach wants the distractions around the player promptly resolved before the team opens camping in France after all major leagues across Europe would have ended their seasons later this month.

Meanwhile, Ola Aina, a young defender on the books of Premier League giants Chelsea, is reported to have applied to FIFA to switch his international allegiance from England to Nigeria.

The 20-year-old, who was born in England and has represented the Three Lons at U-16 and U-20 levels, is eligible to play for the Super Eagles but he must get FIFA approval first.

“The documentation has been done and will be submitted to FIFA for approval this week,” an official of the Nigerian Federation told scorenigeria.com.ng.

“How fast FIFA and the FA in England work on this will determine how soon his application will come through.”

Aina trained with Gernot Rohr’s team when they were in London during the international window in March.

Garth Crooks Compares Chelsea's Moses to Arsenal's Lauren

Garth Crooks believes that the only player who has ever transitioned to the position of wing-back as smoothly as Chelsea’s Victor Moses has, was Lauren.

* Moses has made 36 appearances for Chelsea this season
Scored 4, assisted 4

* Crooks believes Lauren is only player he can compare him to

* Lauren won 2 titles and 3 FA Cups with Arsenal

When Arsenal signed Lauren from Mallorca in 2000, he was a midfielder.

However, over the next few seasons, Arsene Wenger pushed him back into the right-back position, where he excelled.

Moses has had a similar task this season, going from Chelsea’s winger to wing-back as Antonio Conte adopted a formation with three at the back.

The 26-year-old has reinvented himself, making 36 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and assisting the same amount.

“This was another consummate performance by Victor Moses,” wrote Crooks in his Team of the Week feature for the BBC .

“It’s got to the stage where I actually look forward to watching him play these days.

“Apart from a player who has played in Moses’ current position all his life, it is only Lauren, the former Arsenal and Cameroon player, who I have seen make as successful a transition to full-back as Moses has.”

Lauren won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups while at Arsenal so comparing Moses to the former Gunner is a huge compliment.

Exclusive – No FC Porto Deal For Mustapha Buba, Club Confirms

FC Porto won’t be offering Nigerian midfielder Mustapha Buba a contract after the midfielder failed to convince the technical crew of the team during trials.

Buba spent one month with the team, but the 18 year old didn’t do enough to bag a deal with the Portuguese giants, and has left the club for another team in Portugal.

” Buba has been told he won’t be offered a deal, he did well in his first training but subsequently his level dropped. Porto have better options at the moment, so they let him leave”, Daniel Martins told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” I heard he is testing with another team in Portugal, but for now I don’t have full details. Here’s hoping he bags a deal to kick start his career, he is a bright prospect but Porto was too steep for him as a start”.

Agent – Mikel Won’t Return To Training In One Week, He Will Start Rehabilitation In Two Weeks Time

The bonafide agent of captain of the Super Eagles John Obi Mikel has rubbished reports that his client, who recently underwent successful surgery will be back in training in one week.

As exclusively reported by this football portal, Mikel underwent successful surgery last week to cure a long standing issue of hernia and muscle , which could see him miss the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers against Nigeria.

However reports came out yesterday that the Tianjin Teda captain, who spent ten and half years at Chelsea will return back to training in a week time, a report which his agent says is wide off the mark.

”Mikel is still in London, he starts rehabilitation in two weeks time. How can you even believe that somebody who was operated upon will return to training after a week?, he asked Owngoalnigeria.com correspondent.

”Chelsea offered him their facilities for his rehabilitation but he is looking for a quiet place, hence his choice of going to Dubai or Qatar for his rehabilitation, but he will still do some at Chelsea.

”He is eager to get back to the playing pitch, he has not suffered any long term injury in the past, so you can understand why been out of football for this long is seriously troubling him, but he will return stronger and better”.

How Chelsea Ola Aina Won Rohr Over In 45 Minutes During Eagles Training Session In London

It took Super Eagles of Nigeria latest addition Ola Aina 45 minutes to impress coach of the team Gernot Rohr during the Eagles training session in London.

Aina trained with the Nigerian team for the first time last month, when they held a camp in London, and featured in a test game played among the players after the cancellation of a friendly game with Burkina Faso.

The Chelsea full back was up against Isacc Success, who had made a big impression on Rohr following his performances in a friendly game against Senegal few days before the session.

However Rohr was surprised as the Watford man who is known for his pace, tricks and direct approach failed to trouble Aina, who was up against him as the right back of his team.

Olarenwaju Kayode also got no change out of the young Chelsea defender, when he moved to the right. Rohr nodded his head in approval after the first 45 minutes of the session which Aina not only demonstrated his defensive side but also his ability to join the attack.

He also added pace to the back line and covered up for the central defense duo of William Troost Ekong and Leon Balogun in counter attack situations. His performances won Rohr over as the coach views him as a solution to the right back problems of the team.

Disappointed is the term...

Is it not clear that the league is not exposing talents to quality leagues?

Look at the Super Eagles, Only two outfield players in the first eleven are direct products of the league. Elderson and Etebo.

The league should be providing the talents that go out and make the national team. There is a problem if it is not able to market its best talents to the best leagues in the world.

Until recently, We had struggled to get Nigerian players to top European teams. Our recent success is primarily due to under 17 tournaments and players moving directly from Academies abroad as is the case with Simon Moses and Ndidi.

It is frustrating to see Egbuchulam unable to play a single second in Sweden. Sweden o!! While Nwakali and Ifeanyi Mathew who played under 17 in 2013 are starting in Norway.

There is a myriad of problems in NPFL that need to be resolved and wearing blindfolds will not make them disappear.

Exclusive Interview with Leon Balogun ‘We must win against South Africa and Cameroon’

Q: How would you describe your season with FC Mainz 05?

Balogun: This season for the club has been exciting, though there has been a lot of ups and downs but we are fighting to survive and escape relegation. I think from the last games we've played like those we played against Hertha (Berlin) and Bayern (Munich), we did our best and had fair results - a win against Hertha, and a draw against Bayern at the Allianz Arena. Playing in three different competitions really affected us: That is the Europa League, DFB Pokal and the League. I think we've managed through and we will did well to escape relegation. For me personally, the season could have been better. I would have loved to play more games but also you can see positive trend in the last games. I know its all about the team and if that means that I don't get too many games I certainly understand that, the main thing is for the team to stay in the Bundesliga.

Q: Now to the Super Eagles, the team had a nice time in London in March. The next time the team will gather will be in France ahead of the game against South Africa. What are your thoughts about the camping in London and the game against South Africa?

Balogun: The camping in the UK was very nice. I think we have a lot of players playing in Europe and it was good we were able to use the time to bond; it really would help as we continue to blend. There wasn't too much stress for us, as it was near by and everyone could quickly assemble. Ahead of South Africa game, if we remain focused we have quality young players to beat any team in Africa.

Super Eagles camped in London in March for the friendly game against Senegal
Super Eagles camped in London in March for the friendly game against Senegal

Q: Let's talk about your partnership with Ekong, what do you think of it? And the camping in France, you think it is a nice idea?

Balogun: William is my brother and both of us have played a couple of games together and we have formed a good partnership on the field of play. Off the pitch, we are friends and that is having very positive impact on our game when we play together in the back-line for the Super Eagles. We know each other and we know what the other is thinking, that has helped our game a lot. On the choice of the the training camp in France, it is a beautiful idea by the NFF as it will be good to be together for 8-9 days before we leave for Uyo.

Q: South Africa are our next opponents, but at the moment, they don't have a coach, what do you think?

Balogun: The thing is a coach guides a team, gives them idea on how to play and also presents a team that will play so it doesn't matter whether they have a coach or not, it's the players on the pitch that matters. They are the ones who will perform and show their quality on the field. Perhaps before we play them, they would have hired a coach who will still give them idea on how to play us so I think it will be an interesting game. I played against South Africa once before; I know they have quality players and it will be tough game. I expect a hard game against South Africa.

Q: Finally, two questions in one, what do you think about the game against Cameroon (it comes after South Africa) and then, what's your take about the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, where we've been playing our matches recently?

Balogun: About Cameroon, it's a crucial game and a home game we must win. At home we have everything under our control, we must use that to our advantage. Another advantage is Uyo, our current home ground. Uyo has become a fortress for us. I think it is one of the reasons for our successes in recent times. Uyo fans have shown so much love for the team and that has been very great. The ground is great and the training pitch is also good. And the Akwa Ibom State government has been very supportive of our cause. Cameroon is a strong team, after winning AFCON 2017 they've built up their confidence but by the time we will play them it would be six months after their win in Gabon, we must show them we want the win more than they do. We need to make sure we get the maximum three points to take our points’ tally to 9; that will give us a big edge over other teams including Cameroon. I'm seriously looking forward to the game; we want to show them that we are better than them. We are already dreaming of Russia 2018, but we know we must work harder. We will ensure we win all our matches especially our home games.

Q: Thank you very much for your time, Leon. It's a pleasure talking to you.

Balogun: Thanks Ayo.

Etebo and Elderson aren't the only League products in the current super eagles. I will add to that list, Uche Agbo, Kenneth Omeruo , Akpeyi, Ezenwa, Ahmed Musa, even Mikel Obi played a few games for Platuea Utd.

Even with the defective system we run, it is still on record that our best results in international competitions have been achieved by products of our not so fancied league.
Take stock of the 3 nations cup we won, the fabric of those sides were cut from home. How about the 1996 Olympics? That squad was purely made up of home grown players. The silver medal winning WYC squad of 2005 had close to 100% make up of home grown players and by home grown I mean players that cut their teeth in our league system.
The last bronze winning Olympics team was largely home grown too about 80% I reckon.

It is wrong to make it out like nothing good have come out of our league while in retrospect the reverse the case.

Mikel Obi played zero games for plateau United.. ZERO... Omeruo was signed shortly after under 17 and can not be said to be a product of the league.

Agbo and Musa are not at the moment part of the starting 11 but they are products of the league.

For Goalkeepers, Nigeria has no issue producing quality locally.

We have to go back to the 1990s and early 2000s to see our league players, going abroad to big leagues and succeeding. After that we suffered from a lack of quality players as the bulk of our players end up in the back waters of Europe, never coming out.

Look at the Olympic team, how many of the home based lads made a solid impression? How many moved to better sides?

Odey, the top league scorer went to FC Midtjylland on trial. Do you know that FC Midtjylland has signed Nigerian players without trial from FC Ébèdei, a third tier side. They sent their people to observe players and signed them.

Why are our top league players going on trial?

When i express my opinions about things, you are free to disagree at least i clearly state my reasons.

However, you do not know me and should stick to issues rather than trying to guess my feelings. People disagree widely about things but when you start making it personal, you are crossing a line, especially when you start attributing hate to me.

I call it like i see it. Hate is hate. No amount of playing the victim can get u out of this. Ur comments are there for all to see.

You just realised tbaba1234 hates NPFL homebased players? I take it that it is one of his guilty pleasures taking shots at NPFL whenever he can.
Well better late than never.
Good morning

I was trying to give the benefit of a doubt but now it is so obvious. Morning o.

Honestly and with all due respect those saying tbaba1234 hates npfl don't know what they're saying.

Yes he has criticised the league several times. But if I'm not mistaken, he also gave suggestions on this thread on how they can improve.
Futhermore, his criticism is valid, because all he said was the truth about the league, take it or leave it but don't conclude that he hates it.

I can like a dish, but because it is not well cooked, i criticise it. That doesn't mean i hate the dish.

Tbaba1234 doesn't fancy NPFL players, but that cannot be confused for hatred. We all know that these local players can do better and can be managed better. He has said it many times that talents abound. So the issue of hate does not even arise.

He has raised points that cannot simply be waved aside on the alter of name-calling. For one, we all clamoured for Chisom Egbuchulam to be included in the Eagles last term, can we do same right now when he has not even played for a mid-table Swedish team going to three months now? Same with Odey. Which Nigerian will clamour for his inclusion in the National team if he signs for a Danish team?

I cannot in good faith look at what is happening on the homefront and continue to hail our league at the moment.

See the length you went just to prove these guys mentioned weren't products of the league system.
For starters, Mikel Obi played atleast a couple of cup games for Platuea Utd. Even if he dint feature much, the fact that he trained with an NPFL team for a season makes him a product of the league.
Omeruo played for Sunshine after the U17 World Cup. He didn't leave the country immediately after the 2009 U17 championship. His partnership with Oboabona started from their days at Sunshine.

Agbo is a bona-fide member of the super eagles squad. He's a Nigerian international even if he is playing a support role.

How well the Bronze medal squad have transitioned is not a matter I raised but rather I pointed out that they helped win us our only medal at the Olympics.

Did I read you say FC Midjiland sign Nigerian players from the 3rd tier without trial? That's a total falasy. Apart from Ezekiel, I don't think any player have secured a deal from Nigeria to Europe without trials. Not even Mikel Obi, Iheanacho, Obafemi Martins , Success or any player for that matter have achieved such transition. It is not peculiar to Nigeria. Europeans don't trust talents from Africa enough no matter how good you are, in my opinion.
