I think Awoniyi should spend another season with NEC Nijmegen on loan from Liverpool.... just a suggestion... he needs to really come back to top form and finish his education there in the dutch league.
.....................................................................................................

Liverpool Loanee Awoniyi Opens Goal Account For Dutch Side With Late Winner

Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi scored his first goal for his loan side NEC Nijmegen to hand them all three points against Europa League hopefuls AZ Alkmaar.

The Nigerian was introduced with seven minutes left to play in the game, and scores tied at 1-1 despite Alkmaar playing with one man less following a sending off.

Five minutes after his introduction, the on loan Liverpool man headed home a cross to score what ended as the winner for his team to ease their relegation worries.

The goal was his first goal for the team since moving to the team in the summer on a season long loan from Liverpool, he celebrated the goal excessively by taking up his shirt and earning a booking in the process.

In the same game, Nigerian striker Fred Friday started and played the entire duration of the game for AZ Alkmaar but failed to add to his season tally of six goals so far in the league.

Truth is I understand why he said so..... but also these are kids... we need their 100% attention and "open-heartedness"

If We deny them the expression of their talents which gives them a good amount of Joy... we may kill or reduce their desire for learning also. So we need to be careful... (but on another hand, some kids will be motivated if Sir Basco's words are used because they wanna return to their game but let's forget that route).

Having said that... we won't stop them from playing... but we would have them understand that they must do well in the classroom and on the field.... and that is by subtly showing them the benefits of both and naturally, they will come to embrace their talents in tandem with their books.

And Every Child will have the right approaches to ensure their progress in class and on field.

You are saying we won't stop them from playing but he said 'they cannot play if they cannot pass'. That is exactly what I am against.

I was a teacher for many years even before attending higher institution. I also taught in a public secondary school during NYSC. I know how we motivated children to learn.

You may say no child is dull but I will say all children have different levels of Intelligence Quotient and so some learn faster than others. There is a limit to which you can push a slow child/children. You cannot draw the whole class back because you want this slow child to catch up.

If you have taught you will really understand why I said some students are really "Olodo". Give them all you've got and they will still score "odo".

Back to my point , no child should be stopped from playing football because he cannot pass an academic test.

Okonkwo Orji Eventually came on for Bologna in the 74th min in their 3-1 away loss to Empoli in the Italian serie A.

Sadiq Umar was yet again an unused substitute.

I have teaching experience with kids... I find Joy in educating the next generation despite my academic schedules, scholarship studies and a couple of other engagements.....

It is true that no child's IQ is the same as another and that every child cannot learn at the same pace.... but it is generally established that no child is dull.

You speak of dragging the whole class back... that is because you are looking at the Nigerian approach to things. We just teach everybody and wanna walk away without noticing who and who is not actually following and who needs a different approach.

The Coach Carter Concept and the approach used in "Like Stars on Earth" on that outstanding Olodo rabata who became academically sound preaches Dynamism in the way we approach teaching our kids and ensuring they are not left behind... it takes dedication and Patience and also Keen Observation and not the usual "Hello Class, I hope u understand this" and class says "Yes Ma!!!" and the teacher says "Good, see you next class" cheesy

So you see I speak of a more dedicates approach to our youngsters.... and not the conventional teaching approach you see all over the country.

Hmmm... good point... well, uhmmm... let's see how things go.

Stay at NEC on loan even if they drop to the second tier OR move out on loan again to another team who will be willing to feature him as well as nurture him.... we will see shaa...

We are talking reality you are talking about a movie you watched.

Let me take you to an average public school in Lagos and come and apply that your coach carter concept.

But I have said a few times here that the movie is actual reality.... why do you deliberately choose to ignore that?

And you obviously don't believe it will work... you doubt the IQs of kids in public schools... okay naa... easy to see why this dragged on... wink

You believe there are Olodo rabatas that cannot be made sound in their academics....

Ever heard of Ben Carson?

So what if a child does not do well academically, do we stop him from playing football?

Or let me re-coin it. should academic pass mark be used to select players into our youth teams?

The glory of possible football career can derail the most calm, collected and focused minds.

When you add that to youth and I mean really young kids. A young kids thinks when he is in the academy or at a team that he will be the next Ronaldo. Reality check that possibility is very slim indeed.

However, child does not know that or believe it. As a result no longer interested or motivated to study and as a consequence starts to TOTALLY underachieve at school.

And if the football doesn't happen they may fall in to crime, drugs, depression and even suicide.

I have witnessed this over the last 10 years multiple times. It is really Heart breaking for the kids and even for me to see.

So I say you can have both and if I have to use the carrot and stick to motivate that boy. I will do it unapologetically 100%. Better safe than very very sorry.

Linked to why I understand and also agree somewhat with Sir BascoVanVeli's words that started this debate.... that approach could be very motivating for several kids.... but again... lemme not say much on that.

Nobody is saying footballers should not go to school.

Should a child be stopped from featuring for our youth teams because he cannot pass an academic test? Just a simple answer will do.

Ben Carson was the worst Olodo Rabata child you would find in his area in those days.... abi you wanna argue that one too? you think it is exaggerated how poor and dull he was before he picked up?? cheesy

And yes The Coach Carter concept will work for evey child... if it could work for blacks in the united states in slum areas and regions known for drugs and violence and also with black kids so dull all they knew was booze and sex at such tender age and also again with kids who initially had no direction in life as all they knew was the robbery and death they see on the streets daily...... then yes it will work for all children.... smiley
