Ghana who used to be Giants in under 17 soccer have not qualified for any tournament since MRI was introduced.

Eagles Newbie Mikel Agu – I Will Show Nigerians Why FC Porto Extended My Contract

Newly invited Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Agu is still basking in the euphoria of his first call up to the senior national team of Nigeria by coach Gernot Rohr for the get together in France.

Agu is among the five players who were handed first time call up by the Franco-German coach of the team for their camp in France, which will culminate in the team playing in a game against Corsica.

Responding exclusively to a question from Owngoalnigeria.com correspondent on a social media group, the on loan Vitoria de Setubal defensive midfielder says he is eager to replicate the form that made FC Porto hand him a contract extension.

” It’s normal for me to come to the camp and do my thing. I hope to play at same level or even better than what am doing now for my team in Portugal. My performances earned me a new contract with Porto, and why to show Nigerians why”, he said.

He also voiced out his readiness to fight for a shirt in the team despite the presence of other senior national team players in his position, which is the defensive midfield role.

” It’s my joy to be battling for a spot which some senior players, I’m very young and still learning but I hope to give my best to force my way into the plans of the coach for the friendly game and also the South Africa tie”,

Kayode Vows To Make Super Eagles Squad For Bafana Clash
By Johnny Edward

Austria Wein striker Olanrewaju Kayode has vowed to take his chance to impress after being named in Nigeria’s squad for friendly against Corsica later this month, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Kayode has enjoyed a superb season in the Austrian Bundesliga where he has scored 21 goals in all competitions.

But the former youth international admits he is not guaranteed a spot in the squad for next month’s 2019 AFCON qualifier against South Africa.

“I’m happy with the invitation but I still have to work harder to get a place in the final squad for the game against South Africa,” Kayode who celebrated his 24th birthday on Monday told Completesportsnigeria.com.

“We have a big, talented squad and every one will be out to impress.

“There aren’t many opportunities to impress the manager so everyone will be giving 100 per cent and looking to get in.”
Libya and Seychelles are the other opponents in Nigeria’s qualifying Group for Cameroon 2019.

FC Porto Awaziem Reveals Tricks He Has Learnt From Leon Balogun In Eagles Camp

FC Porto Nigerian defender Chidozie Awaziem says he is happy learning from established senior Nigeria national team defenders like Leon Balogun of Mainz 05.

While responding to questions on his recent invitation to the senior national team of Nigeria for their training camp in France, Awaziem says he is hopeful of making his debut for Nigeria against Corsica.

The Eagles will play Corsica in a friendly game on the 26th of May, a game which coach Gernot Rohr has revealed will help him properly assess some young players in the team.

Awaziem is yet to be capped by Nigeria at senior level but the 20 year old FC Porto forward says he has learnt a lot from the various training drills and session he has had with the team.

” I’ve learnt a lot from almost everybody in camp, I’m very willing to learn and eager to be like the senior players in the team. The family atmosphere makes learning easy”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” Leon Balogun style of play has impressed me the most, and I must say I have learnt a lot from his way of tackling, going into aerial duels and also passing out from the back. His calmness is another area I see in him that I truly want to emulate “.
