Hello To everyone in this group and goodu Morning
Please I have never been as confused as this before and inneed your input. I have a bachelor of Agric degree finishing with overall cgpa of 3:0 and last 2 years 3.8. I appied for masters in MUN after securing a supervisor. Only school I applied to as the others I got no response. After waiting for 4-5months I got decision made and was told my application was refused. I spoke to my supervisor over the phone and he told me he is interested in my profile and he hasn't made a choice yet as the issues faced with getting visa from nigeria as he has a student from Nigeria who took 1year to get visa that is why he hasn't made a choice on me(2days before I got decision made he was asking me how long it takes to get visa and study permit via email). As of the time I got decision made and I spoke to my supervisor he said he hasn't made a final desicion.
Now the question is how come MUn gave admission refusal when my Supervisor told me over the phone he hasn't finalized on my profile, as he will keep in touch with me. What do I do now ?
Please this thing dey burst my kidney, cos searching for supervisor is like sourcing for Dollar when he scarce
Thank you as I await you inputs bosses

Hello house, Please am new here and I have a question. I applied to the University of Waterloo Phd program (Public Health and Health Systems) for September intake. Since January, I have not received any admission decision. I check the portal like hell every day cant count the number of times. Now i have admission from Australia from like 3 schools for July intake but Master programmes. Please what do you advise? Should I still wait for Waterloo? they dont answer their mails. And the schools in Australia are all waiting for my decision almost closing.

Anyone in Waterloo here? do they accept Nigerians?

anyone is okay! The vo cannot refuse you based on address! At least I've not seen a gcms that state refused based on wrong address.... Make use of anyone but be sure to be consistent... If you have started using Anifowoshe use it till the end on all

Hi boss,

Greetings...

If I were in your shoes, I will send uwaterloo an email or give them a call to know the update.

If you already have a supervisor there, you can ask him/her, s/he should be able to tell you any update.

If you dont have any supervisor prior to applying, then that is probably the reason for the delay. They are perhaps looking for a match for you. Either way, contact them... I prefer you do so via phone, it is faster...atleast in my case.

With respect to the australian universities, are the positions funded? If they are, and the deadlines to accept is close, send them an email to ask for decision extension. Most schools usually grant this request.

But call waterloo first.

Peace...

It will end in praises for us all.

Hey bro, smiling mood activated here too. grin

[s]I am always happy to be proven wrong but it's not clear to me how a postgraduate diploma is different from a post bacc diploma except in name only. I do stand corrected if I am mistaken, however.[/s]

On second thought you are right that they are not equivalent... I googled it and it appears that just one school in Canada offers this exact course and the same school also has a graduate diploma which they consider to be higher than the post bacc. Thanks for the correction!

Having said that, switching to a PGD won't automatically solve his problems (though I agree with you that the program level is also likely an issue), though switching to masters would help. But in either case, @chinograd needs to write a strong SOP explicitly justifying his desired educational trajectory.

From my unscientific observation of this thread over the past ~two years, PGD visa applicants in business administration or international business management or human resources management seem to get denied a lot. To me the reason is almost obvious, it is difficult to make a case to the VO that you need to go to Canada to study these courses at the PGD level. It is not impossible to get a TRV for these courses, but the application has to be extremely well put together. So yes I'd suggest he go for a masters or an MBA if he really wants to gain unique knowledge, given his three years of experience.

@thesoj

The bolded in your post above scares me because you are talking from the professional side of view and i might fall in that category. i study banking and finance in my UG and i have worked in a bank as a marketer and currently working with a telecoms comp in their finance dept for my career progression all i can apply for is pgd global business management considering my 2:2 grade and i already applied and expecting admission from 2 colleges i really need gurus to shed more light to my chances of getting a TRV
@austinepee4 and gurus please assist and advice if theres any other course i can apply for and which goes in line with my UG and work experience

Good morning,
While we are all here to help each other cross the hurdles from admission to trv, most helpful hands here would expect some work to be done by you before hitting up the forum for further information. If u use Google and input your search criteria, I am pretty sure you will find all the answers you seek. After using google , narrow down to about 6 schools and members would be happy to help breakdown into atleast 3 for you to apply to( never put all your eggs in one basket).

Sorry if this isn't what you were expecting.

Good day peeps.

I'm new here. I have some little problem. I was given an offer in diploma(Environmental technology) at NBCC. I already hold a B.Sc degree. I was told that I can't get a study permit because of the program NBCC offered to me is lower than my already attained B.Sc. degree.

Please, What do I do in this circumstances
I am to resume september.

Gurus in the house should please help me out. Thank you

I almost gave up about studying in Canada because I had stories about challenges applying outside Nigeria but someone in this forum encouraged me, even when I find it difficult to provide a good SOA. All I provided was my retired dad's statement with just 500k. Though the PhD is funded but just approximately 17CAD per year.
To those still awaiting approval never give up, I would also help with prayers am also available to help review SOP, this would reduce the burden placed on the gurus in the thread.

How do you call a number like this? 519-888-4567, ext. 38455. extension before number of number before extension? do i need to add +1 to it? As for the Australian schools, they are self sponsors. thanks alot. your response was great.

Relax and send a professional email to your supervisor. Notifying him/her of the update.

Relax cos it will turn out well at the end.

Apply for a full time program. You will not get a study visa as an international student applying for a part time program from outside canada.
