samjumbo: There is no harm appying as self sponspor if you can prove that you sufficient and available funds for the duration of your program. The difference between Sponspored applicant and a self sponsored applicant is that...... A sponsored applicant who is going for a 2years program MAY be allowed to show proof for funds for one year (made up tuition and living expenses) and a proof that his sponspor can cater for the subsequent year (this may be determined via various means like inflow and outflow shown on the bank statements, proof of sources of income, pay slips etc.) A self sponsored applicant in this case has to prove to the VO that he can cater for his studies for the duration of course. Thus, for the whole two years. Meaning if you are applying as a self sponsored applicant, you to show proof of funds for the whole two years (total tuition plus 20,000 cad for the 2years living expenses). The logic here is when apolying for study permit it's required of you to prove to the VO that you can cater for your studies without working in CAnada. |

Sugaro: I would like to know if your related docs are in one pdf document. If not combine them using https://www.pdfmerge.com/ and shrink using https://smallpdf.com/compress-pdf This should work. 1 Like |

Smartlawyer: Came back for you. 3 reasons why you should try EE now. 1. Currently, You can apply for citizenship after 4 years of PR. I.e. 3 years of PHD plus 1 year of after school flex = Citizenship. Am sure you won't mind that. They are even proposing to reduce it to 3 years. So, you may become citizen while on your PhD study. Be wise, PR card is good but it is useless for US ban. 2. If I am correct, There is "a minimum of 2 years of living in Canada out of 5 years " rule for PR renewal. If you get PR now, you qualify for renewal after study, even if you return to Nigeria. 3. What gives you the guarantee that Canada won't turn "UK" before the end of your study? Your plan b of returning may not work if you wait and that happens. Be wise. Am out! 1 Like |

ohizzyy7: for tuition write what is written on ur admission letter or tuition estimates given to you by the school. Room and Board : 10000 Other: 2000-5000** Please am i to calculate for one year or the full program? Calculate for a year ** depending on ur financial muscle Below is an Excerpts from CiC page on financial sufficiency.. ''Students are required to demonstrate financial sufficiency for only the first year of studies, regardless of the duration of the course or program of studies in which they are enrolled. In other words, a single student entering a four-year degree program with an annual tuition fee of $15,000 must demonstrate funds of $15,000 to satisfy the requirements, and not the full $60,000 which would be required for four years. Officers should be satisfied however that the probability of funding for future years does exist (i.e., parents are employed); scholarship is for more than one year. Applications for extensions made to CPC-V must also meet this requirement''. hope this helps 1 Like |

oluwaCanny: Thanks so much oluwa. I have an offer from Manitoba for MSc rehab science. Total fees is 11500.. Approximately 3.2m.. But I am awaiting an offer from western Ontario for the same course. As in Ontario province, I may be aligible for full funding in health science, if not, they will not admit. My question now is, going by my Manitoba offer, if I declare 12million without paying fees and etc, isn't that sufficient for me to apply as self funded for the two years?? I also have fund in T.Bills.. About 12m oooo.. DAT one no reach? Must I use a sponsor? Some pple are saying use a sponsor as it shows u that u are not alone.. But the truth is am richer than the sponsors... Brothers and parents I mean!! Can I use a statement of account reading 2 million as sponsor while I have 12m in my personal account?? Please can anyone analysis and shade more light |

samjumbo:how many years masters? U can use urself as sponsor just as the other moniker said as long as ur cash is enough for the duration of ur masters (tuition + living expenses ). NB: living expenses is cad$10k/year so multiply that with the years. If it's a 2 year program that means $20k (living expenses ) + $11.5k = $31.5k= almost #9mil, so u are good to go 1 Like |

Osemigho: Lol because of the following; Canada is approx 3,855,081 square miles. population: 33,098,132 United Kingdom is approx 94,525 square miles. population: 60,609,150 so, Canada is about 40 times the size of the UK. with half the population. And the Canadians are more generous and accommodating than the arrogant Britons. Case closed. 15 Likes |

Hey guys!! So here is my story. I joined Nairaland in 2013 because of this thread. I wanted to travel way before that time but my folks couldn't afford it. I dedided to forget about Canada and work. I can afford to pay my tuition and accommodation for a year now and the only people that can give me a statement as sponsors are not even my family members. Its that going to be a problem? I want to study Film production at George brown college. |

Hey Guys....Goodmorning Please i want to ask; 1) Is it crucial to make payment of tuition fees before submitting study permit application? 2) Between the Online and Paper route, which is safer, and faster 3) For paper route submission, is biometrics done at once? 4) How has submitted through the paper route should please send me an email. Thank you in anticipation to your response. Do have a lovely and positive week people. |
