Greetings guys
I wrote one of my episodes based on NYSC. Do I fill it on the portal as a relevant work experience ? My nysc was at ministry of works Asaba. Or I just change to graduate internship. If I change to graduate internship, do I fill it in as relevant work experience? Cc bellong

Personally, I am thinking of making it an internship. But do I need to write this as relevant employment or I just check the box and move on?

Hello,

I'd reckon you fill it in as relevant work experience.
It doesn't really affect your application for as much as you're not claiming work experience.
In my case, I didn't write any episode using my NYSC experience. However, I filled it as relevant employment.
Also, one of my career episodes was based on my internship experience, and that too was selected as relevant experience.

So, yeah, you can fill it in as a relevant experience. My comment is based on the fact that you're not assessing your work experience as well because if you're, then filling this as relevant experience may require submitting additional evidence. I recall only submitting reference/attestation letter for my internship.

I hope this helps. it was sent to me by engineers Australia when I asked similar questions

Dear.........
We are unable to advise you on the content you should use for your career episodes.  The assessor will let you know whether they are suitable upon review.

The assessor will let you know if they require a reference letter for your internship.

The most important thing to remember when writing your CDR is that you are able to demonstrate how you have applied your engineering knowledge/skills and that such application meets the competency standards of the relevant occupational category in Australia.

When writing your CDR, you may use material from:

• an engineering task undertaken as part of your educational program;

• a project you have worked on or are currently working on;

• a specific position that you occupied or currently occupy (in this case, the career episode must comprise more than a mere duty statement);

• a particular engineering problem that you were required to solve.

Each of the required three career episodes should emphasise any engineering problems identified and any particular problem solving techniques used by you. The purpose of this is to assess the nature of the contribution which you may have made to the engineering project or task - particularly if that contribution was of a novel nature or critical to the implementation of the task/project.

Please note that it is not sufficient to merely describe work in which you were involved. Your own role in the work must be clearly described by you, and be identifiable in the assessment.

You need to address all of the engineering competency elements but you do not have to address all of the indicators.

In relation to the Summary Statement elements, you do not have to address all elements in each of your career episodes. However, you will need to address each element in your summary statement overall.

The analyses of your Career Episodes are to be reported in the form of one Summary Statement of competency elements claimed.

Please refer to Section C of the MSA Booklet for the preparation of your career episodes and summary statement.

If you are applying for the Relevant Skilled Employment Assessment, you will need to refer to Section D and page 29 of the MSA Booklet for a full list of the requirements.

If you are NOT applying for the Relevant Skilled Employment, but your career episode/s are based on your employment, you will be required to provide documentary evidence in support of the work experience claims and this must be on a company letterhead (including name and location details) and include the date of document, dates and duration of employment in addition to the name and position of author.  Please refer to page 19 (section 4. Employment) for further details.

If you are applying for the Relevant Skilled Employment Assessment, the description/list of your work duties is a mandatory requirement.  Please refer to page 29 (Section D) of the MSA Booklet for further details.

Kind regards

Kimberly

Thanks for your contribution. I am in touch with some engineers at the ministry already. Do you reckon a reference letter will be sufficient as evidence yh?

No, IOM won't help with return ticket; only one-way tickets and it has to be on a migration visa.

What if he buys one way going, after activation he then s33ks seeks a return ticket from Oz?

Not to rain on your parade, but Accountants require huge points for invitation at the moment, even 70 pointers wait ages for invitation... What you have outlined supports Canadian Express Entry better... Just my opinion though

Very doable; point to note though, the available checked allowance on some return tickets originating from Oz is about 30kg vs. 45/46kg when the ticket originates from Africa. Just a tiny point to note.

However, for a single person I doubt this would matter much.

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and I have been reading the write-up and it's very informative. I have done some research and need to ask some questions.
1. Must the principal applicant and spouse be assessed and write English test for PR.
2. What's d validity for ielts.
3. I found out that it's only Tasmania we are qualified for nomination. How is Tasmania as most people don't talk abt it.
4. My husband is a civil engineer and am a banker with 3kids. He is HND holder, while am a bsc.
What are our chances. We already have IELTS of February 2016

@Amykizi,

You probably have read wrongly...

1. Only the principal applicant needs a skill assessment.. The dependent spouse may write English test as a proof of functional English.

2. 3years for migration purpose.

3 and 4. Your husband can assess as a civil engineer technician which doesn't require a state nomination. Tasmania is a no go area because you must have a job offer before being invited or have a relative living there.
Civil engineering technician is on the MTSSL, meaning you can apply for subclass 189 that requires no state nomination.
You have a prettygood chance. What's your IELTS score ( your husband's)
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by Amykizi: 10:38pm On May 21, 2017
Thanks Oga Bellong for ur quick response.
He has 7 in total band and I have 6
I checked the point calculator and he's score is below 60 I guess due to age, he will be 36 by November and again is his education. He is a HND holder. But pls if u don't mind can u help me in re calculating it.
Another question how long does the assessment take and how can one be in d pool before been invited.

Thank you wants again

VETASSESS assessment takes on the average ( 2 month to 3 month). How many years of experience does your husband have?

The English result ure talking about is it band 7 in Individual module? because if its total ure referring to he might not be able to claim point on the

English exam (For 10 point he needs = W7 R7 L7 S7 & 20 Point = W8 R8 L8 S8). You need to have a relevant skill assessment, a minimum of

band 6 in all bands to be in the pool. If you don't have any of these two then getting an invitation for 189 is mere impossible. your husband's

occupation can not even go for 190, but he can get the 189 if he is really determined. Nothing is impossible as long as the zeal is there.

He probably will rewrite his English to aim for 8 in each band for the maximum score of 20 points.
You don't need to rewrite the test.

Discard the first comment, let him assess as a civil engineering craftsperson. While the technician is assessed by only vetasses, the draftsperson is assessed by both Engineers Australia and VETASSES. He is better off assessing with EA as it is faster, if he chooses fast track option, and less cumbersome.

He should read the job descriptions of a draftsperson and technician and choose the occupation best for him.
This is the point you both should read again.

The two occupations are not competitive, once you have a positive assessment and meet 60 points, you should get invitation in the following rounds after submitting EOI.

You are better off buying return ticket without IOM. Buying each way will result to penny wise pounds foolish.

One way ticket is usually very expensive. If you get a deal with IOM for the go, adding the cost of the back ticket will be way more than buying the return direct.

When are you traveling? I can ask a travel agent friend if possible you can get a good return ticket deal.

@All,

According to the Immigration minister yesterday, the occupation lists will be reviewed again in July. There is probability of removing or adding occupations.

Fingers crossed.
