jpworld: yes, a lot of riders but less drivers. less drivers means less income for Uber. with all the driver incentives and promotions, I doubt if Uber is making more profit now than before |

Romeo3:It is more about the electrical systems, ignition etc.Driving tru a pool of water while the AC is on can cause the working AC fan to splash water onto the electricals system and cause short-circuit. Your engine can also well shutdown due to ignition issue. Hence putting off the AC at that time will safe you against such disaster as your fan will be off. |

Please how lucrative is this Uber business at the moment? I hope on getting Toyota Corolla 2012 model within the week for Uber. Please honest answers. |
Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by honmusa(m): 6:21am On Jun 04, 2017 |
OlugbengaE:lol , bros fans are not designed to worked perpetually if the AC has not been been switched on ,the fan will only come on at a certain temperature threshold eg for Toyota ,the fan come on at 96 degree and will subsequently goes off after the temperature has been reduced to 90 degree and this circle continue. But the reason you see fans of average Nigerian working continuously is due to crude work of illiterate Nigerian rewire that has ignorantly tampering with the wiring system becos they feel that is a cure for overheating which is not so . The effect a continuous runing fan will have on your engine are listed below ; 1.Higher fuel consumption cos engine temperature will fall short of manufacture operating temperature standard 2.Engine will soon start to emitting white smoke from tailpipe this is due to the fact that oil lubrication has been compromised causing tear and wear within the engine moving part . 3.Alternator will soon fry up sooner than expected as the continuous working fan will always be demanding much more current from the alternator 24/7 which can eventually destroy it. 4.Runing temperature lower than desired standard will damage the catalystic converter as the car is running rich ,more carbon will be dumped into the catalystic converter corrupting the expensive material. If you fan is working 24/7,try to get it corrected to manufacturer standard to avoid all these issue above, most importantly your engine is at risk .check below for further discussion on this same subject. https://www.nairaland.com/712502/there-advantage-disconnecting-car-engine#8747272 https://www.nairaland.com/3729134/let-discuss-cooling-system-overheating. 3 Likes |

honmusa: Did you read what I said at all? Because you don't need all this epistle. If you drive around your fan will come on and off. whether you put ac on or not. Dont assume everybody is a novice. I never said fan running continously. I said everything depends on temperature. My cars fans are controlled by thermostat which reads the engine temperature and it has not been tampered by any Kazeem. Basically what I was saying is if your engine temperature is high and thermostat kicks in switching off the AC will not stop the fans. Some might reduce from high speed to low speed.. OlugbengaE:sorry to bust your bubble ,engine temperature sensor doesn't control the fan neither the fans are controlled by thermostat. ECU controls the fans .thermostat is purely a mechanic device and works independent .U have alot to learn . The probability that the fan will be On without AC when driving tru water is Nil compared to when you have the AC on .This is simple wisdom ,"don't put on AC on when driving tru water ""to avoid story that touch the heart and you still arguing ,nawa o. |
Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by OlugbengaE: 7:57am On Jun 04, 2017 |
honmusa: You sha wan talk sha. The ecu works by interpreting readings from what? From itself abi. All you said is non of my concerns. No need to digress. All I have to tell you Mr Professor mechanic is offing AC when Engine is hot doesn't mean the fans with die. Shikena. Don't assume you know my car more than me dont assume any Kazeeem has tampered with my car. I believe in romeo3 reasons than yours 1 Like |

This is a common sense that it has become "a pure water" discussion on the Internet https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-to-drive-your-vehicle-through-a-flood-by-cheryl-knight http://trustcompleteair.com/should-i-turn-off-my-ac-unit-when-theres-a-flood/ Why talking from both side of your mouth ,you stated earlier that engine temperature sensor control the fan and you still put it again that ECU control fans !!! which one is your take self!!! |

OlugbengaE:If you switch AC off just before entering water atleast one fan will be running while driving through the pool, therefore fan will still splash water, but the AC clutch would have disengaged, so water or sediments will be able to get in between the compressor coil, Pulley / bearing and clutch which drive the compressor. Meanwhile, if compressor is left to run this wont happen. It's best to have every possible part of the engine running to minimize for how long water settles there because the motion will cause vibrations which prevents settling and penetration. The compressor is a sealed unit so water should never penetrate into a perfect compressor. 2 Likes |

OlugbengaE: And now the cookie has finally crumbled! These guys are trying to solve the challenge of not enough drivers in reverse...... even with a 2000 vehicle, fuel is still 145/ltr. The cost of maintenance may be even more yet riders fare which should be reverted remains low. I seriously shake my head..... if the car you are driving on uber is not your own then your case is worse than a Danfo driver! Take my word to the bank. |
