I noticed that some places do not plaster over their block works and the masonry looks beautiful. They use grovers in between the blocks to create a clean finish with no chalk overs.

Advantages:
1. It saves money on cement and materials for plastering.
2. It saves money on paints

And if done right looks exquisite. This is where building construction meets art. I don't think any "block count" mason will have time for it.

Check out the picture below:

This is beautiful. where and how do we get this tools?

No special tools needed. You need masons who love their job and are willing to accept daily payment instead of block count payment.

I think Phillipinos are the most patient workers I have ever seen. Even with crude tools, they still pay close attention to details.

I disagree!
You cant compare them to Nigerian Artisans and Contractors!
Our own pay closest attention to the Money shocked

We discussed this unplastered blocks about 300 pages or so behind grin

It's not the masons. Only. It's the blocks.

Nigerian blockmakers, including the fancy "big boys" in Lekki cannot make architecturally pleasant blocks of quality that can be left exposed.

Right on point. Come see the real blocks being used here... not those sand only blocks we use in Naija...

working a house in badagry... the block is superb. the owner requested for stone dust not just sand to make the block for him.. stone done + sand + cement.

those blocks are super strong

True talk!!! Kindly provide us with picx just like EgunMogaji requested. Would you be kind enough to please provide us with the mix ratio of cement : sharp sand : stone dust. Some of us here on are seeking for information on how to go about making such blocks. If anyone has the know-how about this, please kindly educate us. Thanks

My Oga don't let us start argument on block strength, you remember when Brabus tied to prove the strength of two different blocks by laying them and driving bus through them. I believe he was trying to make a point then. I cant stop laughing when I saw that, instead of him showing us mixture ratio and scientific proving on load pressure to justifies his claim.

Yes o. The only test I beleive is that of Aventures using stone dust which makes the block very solid. But our block makers will never make the block with a good mix ratio that will not benefitted them financially.

pls whats the effective cure for grasses growing btw interlocking paving stones?
i learnt specially inert treated sand is used to fill the cracks, but i think this gets diluted/washed away after some years, thus the grasses stage a comeback, now they r back what should i use to stop them, tried herbicides [suggested by some1, dont know the name] but it didnt last, 2months after they came back again

Didn't they lay polythene before fixing the interlocking tiles?

. When clients make such request it's quite obvious they are ready to make the financial implication. You can also make blocks using fine aggregate 3/8"(coarse)+ sharp sand+cement+ water (curing). Mix ratio and water for effective curing is very important no matter the type of aggregate used. There is also a special kind of sharp sand used in block making (i've seen and used it only in PHC).
As regarding grasses growing on interlocking stones, you can continue to apply herbicides on the affected area ( you can ask for herbicides for narrow leaves in the market).

I am not sure if you can stop the grass but keep using
Put petroleum all over the grass it will kill it
or if you are going to do it over
make sure they put rubber all over the ground--( lay polythene)

We are starting production in Enugu and Abuja this October once the rainy season subsidizes. The machines have successfully landed in Nigeria, cleared and being installed.

Our team is still working on how to make blocks similar to what is obtainable in Home Depot but close to the current price in Nigeria (all logistics factored in).

I will keep the forum informed.

Why importing this machine, is it cheaper to import them now. This machines can be easily constructed in Naija which I believe may not cost half of the price of imported one. When I was in Nigeria 25 years ago I used to make complicated Indusral machines then just ordinary block making machine, even with little less technology then. Today with superior CNC multiple Axis machines one can make better ones in less then a week. What is going on out there now?

Part of the problem is the tolerances in the actual block mould.

Sometimes importing is better than local when you want specific results.

I am not in Nigeria.
I do not have the luxury to be running around to look for stuff and when I did delegate, the long stories no be here.
I like gadgets. I love equipment. I don't like the crude way Nigerians produce stuff.
My hues and cries are always about people not getting the value of what they pay for in Nigeria because we love shortcuts.
There are certain things that could be sourced locally like steel for trailers and iron works for the site. But there are certain
things I will not leave to Nigerian workers.

This project is not primarily profit-driven. It has to be shown that we can operate with standard. That's all. Enough of the criticism.

NB: You mentioned that with Superior CNC multiple Axis machines one can make better ones in less than a week. Did you leave any contact
numbers? No! You expect potential customers to pry it out of you . Everyone does not have luxury of that time. I have purchased a lot of things
through contacts on NL. Some people advertise without details. I saw a very informative video about some steel work productions in Aba. Guess what? When the 15 minutes video was over, there was no mention of address or contact information. Go figure!
