Arsenal Top Loanees : Kelechi Nwakali Rated Ahead Of Akpom, Senior England, Costa Rica, Japan Internationals

Top London based football website Squawka has ranked all the players Arsenal farmed out on loan during the 2016-2017 season, with Nigeria U20 international Kelechi Nwakali coming second.

The attacking midfielder or winger was rated ahead of Bournemouth's England star Jack Wilshere, Japan international Takuma Asano, Costa Rica World Cup star Joel Campbell and England U21 international Chuba Akpom.

Writing on Nwakali, Jeorge Bird explained why he picked Nwakali as the second most outstanding loanee, behind Roma goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

''There is much hype surrounding the Nigerian youth international and with good reason. ''

''Nwakali was a major success in the Dutch second tier with Maastricht as he dribbled past opponents with regularity and also showed some signs of improvement defensively.''

The 19-year-old Kelechi Nwakali suited up 33 times for Maastricht last season, and helped the club qualify for the promotion playoffs.

I think Enyeama made his break through with Shorunmu as the keeper trainer. Ejide was also in fine form under Shorunmu. Agbim had the reflexes but his positioning was awful.
u are wrong my man,Enyeama made his break through under keeper trainer known as coach Adisa prior to 2002 world cup.

Coach Adisa was d goalkeeper trainer under Onigbinde at 2002 world cup and he was d one that gave Enyeama d nod over Shorunmu against England.

As for the goalkeeping position, I am disappointed that we have not gotten the chance to test the keepers. Akpeyi seems shielded to me from his weakness becoming exposed in camp. From the test, Alampasu still came out top. That is why he gets my nod.
Alampasu came out top?

Chelsea fans were fuming today when Dominic Solanke’s double at the Under-20 World Cup fired England into the final.

Conte blunder could cost Chelsea millions in Costa transfer »

Juventus winger Riccardo Orsolini gave Italy an early lead. Everton’s Ademola Lookman put the Three Lions ahead on 77 minutes and then Solanke struck again with a long-range finish.

Into the final!! Come on boys one more win! couple more goals

Earlier this summer it was announced that Solanke would be leaving Chelsea to join Liverpool. The 19-year-old failed to agree a contract with the Premier League champions and will switch to Anfield, with the Reds expected to pay around £3million in compensation for the teenager.

His performances at the Under-20 World Cup in South Korea suggest Liverpool may have landed a bargain – and that Chelsea made a big mistake failing to convince him to stay in West London. That’s certainly the view of fans of the sides on Twitter.

Dominic Solanke stars as England’s U20s reach World Cup final

Henry Jackson

8 June 2017

New Liverpool signing Dominic Solanke scored twice and Sheyi Ojo registered an assist as England beat Italy 3-1 to reach the U20 World Cup final.

The Three Lions took on the Azzurri in South Korea on Thursday, knowing a precious spot in the final against Venezuela awaited.

The evening started terribly for Paul Simpsons’ side, however, with Riccardo Orsolini curling Italy in front with just two minutes played.

With the game slowly drifting towards its conclusion, and the Italians defending in typically dogged fashion, a Liverpool-inspired fightback rescued things.

Ojo, on as a second-half substitute, sent in a dangerous right-footed cross, and Solanke was on-hand to stroke home from close-range, after Italy had failed to clear the danger.

England were in dream land with 11 minutes left on the clock, thanks to Everton forward Ademola Lookman’s finish from six yards out.

Solanke sealed a brilliant win for Simpson’s youngsters, rifling the ball into the net from 25 yards to book his team’s place in Sunday’s showcase event in Suwon.

It was a night that will once again have left Reds supporters excited about what Solanke could offer next season and beyond.

He was a constant menace throughout, combining a strong physical presence with some nice touches and clever movement, and his goalscoring pedigree was there for all to see.

More performances like this will only see Solanke’s stock rise, as he looks to make himself a fixture in Jurgen Klopp‘s first-team squad.

On current evidence, the likes of Divock Origi and Danny Ings have a right to feel slightly concerned.

You asked me that question quite some time ago and I explained, Englands FA has deregulated in effect the agent requirements and registration. What you have in place of agents is intermediaries no examination required just the small registration fee of £500 or thereabouts.

What is the criteria is with Nigerian FF I cannot really comment as thier is the legislative framework and then there is the practice.

In Nigeria we know official process and unofficial practice including Egunje can have huge disparities. With the unofficial having more weight than the official.

I know quite a few female agents and would say some are quite good. Even one Nigerian one met her years ago in Europe can't remember her name.

Bafana will face new wave of Super Eagles
By Tshepang Mailwane | Jun 09, 2017

Nigeria are doing their best to rebuild their squad after missing out on the last two editions of the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

A lot of the players in the squad that has been selected to face Bafana Bafana in a 2019 Afcon qualifier at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo tomorrow (6pm) are 25 or younger, which shows the path the Super Eagles are taking.

Gone are the days of the likes of Vincent Enyeama, John Obi Mikel, Efe Ambrose and Emmanuel Emenike. Now it's the turn of youngsters such as William Troost-Ekong, Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi to take Nigerian football back to the top, and they'll want to show how good they are by getting a good result against Bafana.

Here we look at how things have changed in the different departments in the Nigerian squad.

Goalkeeping

According to the media in Nigeria, Chippa United's Daniel Akpeyi is favoured for the number one jersey against Bafana. No one has really held on to the position since Enyeama retired, so this is a good chance for 30-year-old Akpeyi, who is the oldest in the squad, to make a mark.

Defence

Nigeria have tons of potential at the back, with Kenneth Omeruo and Troost-Ekong likely to feature against Bafana. At age 23, former Chelsea player Omeruo has made more than 30 appearances while Troost-Ekong showed great potential during last year's Olympics in Rio. Another player rated highly in Nigeria is Maarouf Youssef, who plays for Egyptian giants Zamalek.

Midfield

Mikel was a mainstay of the Nigerian midfield, but 20-year-old Leicester City hardman Wilfried Ndidi is their man now in that position. Etebo Oghenekaro, the 21-year-old left winger who is based in Portugal, will be high on confidence after making 27 appearances at club level.

Forward

This is where Nigeria are most dangerous, with the threat posed by the English Premier League duo of Iheanacho and Iwobi, who are 20 and 21 respectively. Henry Onyekuru, 20, is seen as the next best thing after scoring 22 goals in the Belgian league, while 21-year-old Moses Simon's three goals in 15 appearances for the national team make him someone they can develop for the future.

Austria Vienna Hitman kayode suffer injury scare During Super Eagles Training.

But the good news is that the in-form

''He had to be treated for about three
minutes on the sidelines by the medical

Cameroon start their AFCON defence campaign against Morocco

Indomitable Lions of Cameroon

by Phumzile Ngcatshe

The reigning African champions, Cameroon, will welcome Morocco as they get their 2019 CAF Africa Cup of Nations Group B qualiying campaign underway on Saturday.

Coach Hugo Broos' men are still in high spirits after lifting the trophy in Gabon in the final as they beat Egypt earlier this year.

Ahead of this encounter, the hosts beat Tunisia, but lost to Guinea 2-1 in friendly internationals and will now hope to return to winning ways.

This highly anticipated encounter is set to be the third clash between these two footballing nations - the previous two produced a draw and a win for the Indomitable Lions.

Looking at the visiting Atlas Lions, they are also highly prepared for this meeting as they have been busy with friendly matches as well.

Gunning for the first three points in the group is what coach Herve Renard is looking to secure in Yaounde come Saturday.

Ahead of this clash, Renard led his men to two wins over Tunisia and Burkina Faso, but they were defeated by the Netherlands in Agadir last month.

The 2012 and 2015 AFCON winning coach with Zambia and Cote d'Ivoire managed to reach the quarter-finals of the tournament in Gabon with Morocco.

The encounter will be staged at the Stade Omnisport Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaoundé at 16:00 (CAT) on Saturday.

Algeria will play host to Togo in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker in Blida on Sunday.

Kick-off is at 23h00 CAT.

The Desert Foxes have been crowned AFCON champions once (in 1990). They failed to advance to the knockout stages at the recent 2017 AFCON finals.

Algeria took on Guinea in an international friendly on Tuesday. The Desert Foxes emerged 2-1 winners over Guinea in Blida.

Hillel Soudani, who was on the scoresheet for Algeria against Guinea, is the player to watch out for ahead of the Group D clash with Togo.

Meanwhile, Togo made their return to the AFCON finals earlier this year after missing the 2015 tournament. They could not reach the knockout stages in 2017.

The Sparrow Hawks played Comoros in an international friendly on Sunday. Togo brushed aside Comoros 2-0 at the Stade Paul Le Cesne in France.

Emmanuel Adebayor remains the Sparrow Hawks' key player. The striker will be looking to inspire Togo to victory over Algeria in a Group D encounter.

Group D also includes Benin and Gambia, and the two sides are scheduled to lock horns at the Stade de I'Amitie in Cotonou on Sunday.

Bafana Bafana are still a tough team to beat despite their poor record against the Super Eagles according to the defender

Elderson Echiejile has warned that the Super Eagles cannot afford to underestimate South Africa in Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Nigeria face Stuart Baxter’s men at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in their quest for a ticket to 2019 Afcon.

And still fresh from Bafana Bafana stopping the three-time African champions from qualifying for Equatorial Guinea 2015, the defender is optimistic of qualifying for Cameroon.

Nevertheless, he is adamant Baxter’s men have what it takes to cause Nigeria problems if they are not fully focused.

''When it comes to African football, South Africa have a good team and they play fast football. Each time we play them it has never been easy,'' Echiejile told media during Thursday’s media parley.

''We don’t have to think about them stopping us from the Nations Cup [Equatorial Guinea 2015], all we want is play the next Afcon.

''This is our first game and we have to start very well because we are playing a very good side.

''All we have to do is concentrate on the game tactically, give everything and hope for a good result.''

Ahmed Musa agrees to join Fenerbahce

Musa has agreed in principle to sign for Fenerbahçe, according to Leceister Mercury.

The Turkish club are said to have started negotiations with Leicester over a potential deal with Musa reported to be happy to leave.

Turkish national newspaper Gunes claim that Musa has been asked if he would be happy to join Fenerbahçe, who finished third in the Super Lig this season, and has said yes.

It would bring to an end an underwhelming season for Musa at Leicester after he struggled to make an impact following a £16 million move from CSKA Moscow last summer.

Despite a stunning brace against Barcelona in pre-season, he managed just four goals in 31 appearances for City, the highlight being a two-goal haul in the FA Cup win against Everton.

I’m not under pressure - Rohr

www.nairaland.com/attachments/5468948_rohr_jpegb71298871d8ebe0c941230b356221ccf

Super Eagles Coach Gernot Rohr has dismissed insinuations that he was under pressure in the selection of players for tomorrow’s 2019 AFCON qualifier saying: “the independence I have enjoyed so far has assisted me in building the team

However, he said that his team has adequately prepared for tomorrow match, predicting a win over the Bafana Bafana. He called for fans support to ginger the players to glory.

Rohr, who spoke at a pre-match press conference at the Le Meridien Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort in Uyo yesterday, said that the qualifying match would not be an easy task given the opponent’s existing record so far.

He said, he would continue to blend the team with new players as an attempt to build a formidable and reliable national team.

Rohr noted: “It is not going to be an easy game, we need the support of the fans as they have been supporting us each time we play here. We have young players who should be encouraged and supported.”

Meanwhile, the Bafana Bafana Coach, Stuart Baxter has said his players are not intimidated by the status of clubs where most of the Super Eagles ply their trade.

He spoke with journalists on arrival at their hotel in Uyo saying: “We don’t have the big stars but we have a team. Every Africa nation faces the same problem but then the coaches try to balance the stars and others.

“We are not going to be defensive or careful because Nigeria has good players. We should not be intimidated by everybody. David has beaten Goliath but this is not a case of David and Goliath because there is no David and Goliath in this game.

“Nigeria is the favourite for this game but for South African to be intimidated, No. Though the Super Eagles had more time to train but that is the way it is. We are confident in the way we are approaching the game at the moment but the players know what to do to get the job done,” he said.

Why Osimhen, Awaziem, Onyekuru & Mu’azam Won’t Start Against SA – Rohr Explains

‎A big hint has been dropped by the coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr about the chances of the young players in his team ahead of the clash against South Africa on Saturday.

Rohr has as many as ten players who are eyeing their competitive debut for Nigeria against South Africa, but the coach has hinted that he might stick with the experienced players in his team for the game.

” Some players will be playing for the first time and they will make some mistakes, it’s important to support them for the good of the team in the long run”, Rohr said.

” For this game the experience players have an advantage, but the younger players will get their chance. They just need to be ready when they are called upon”.

His statement has somehow squashed any potential hope for the likes of Chidozie Awaziem, Victor Osimhen, Mikel Agu and Alhassan Ibrahim have in starting the game against South Africa in Uyo.

Rohr Explains Criteria He Uses In Selecting Players For Super Eagles Games

The selection of players for national team assignment by coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has always dominated discussions with many pundits questioning the inclusion or exclusion of some players.

Some players who are doing well at their club have been snubbed by the manager in recent time, with his latest squad for the game against South Africa on Saturday released without Anderson Esiti who had a very fine season for Belgium club Gent.

The coach sort to clear some doubts about favouritism or external influence in his selection of players for national team assignment during the pre match conference of the team ahead of Saturday’s game against South Africa in Uyo.

” How I select the players?. I monitor them, we have to see videos. I’m not the only one doing that, every coach in Africa is doing that. The Federation (NFF) don’t tell us who to pick. We pick the team ourselves “, Rohr said.

” I work freely. Nobody tell me how to work and that is very important for me. We will try to monitor the good players for future invitations to the team”.

Why We Are Winning Games Under Rohr – Leicester City Star Ndidi Explains

Super Eagles and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has revealed the secret of the senior national team of Nigeria fine form under Franco-German coach Gernot Rohr.

Since taking over as coach of the Super Eagles, the team is yet to taste defeat in three competitive games and three friendly games‎, a record which will be put to test on Saturday against South Africa.

The Super Eagles fine form under Rohr has also helped them better their position in the FIFA Rankings, moving up to 4th in Africa and 38th in the world as opposed to their 16th in Africa and 67 in the world before his appointment.

Speaking to the nff.com in a sound cloud interview monitored by Owngoalnigeria.com, Ndidi credit the unity instilled in the in the team‎ by the coach as the driving force behind their achievements under his guidance.

“He is a good coach and is wonderful, even outside football; he is very disciplined. He has helped our bonding and team solidarity. He says what it is and we just have to abide by the rules and his guidance,” Ndidi told thenff.com.

West Ham Target Iheanacho Speaks On Potential Exit From Man City

Super Eagles of Nigeria and Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has spoken out about his future at the Etihad amidst rumours of a potential move to West Ham.

20 year old Iheanacho is in the camp of the senior team of Nigeria preparing for Saturday AFCON 2019 Qualifiers against South Africa ‎, but his
future has continued to dominate the news both in the local and foreign press.

Known for his goal scoring abilities, he has fallen down the pecking order at Manchester City this season following the emergence of Gabriel Jesus, and despite signing a new deal last summer, he looks certain to depart the club this summer.

However in an interview with the BBC World Service Iheanacho said he is not aware of talks with any team on a move away from City despite talks about a potential move to West Ham being held back by issues bordering on buy back clause fee.

” I don’t know about that news though but all I know is am still at Man City, I’m still a City player so all the news that is going on and on, this team wants to buy you and this team wants to buy you, actually I don’t know about all those news”, Iheanacho said.

“Because as we finished the season everyone went on holiday. So I think that not only me has not been playing, the manager rotates the players, the squad, so that everyone can have game time.

“So I know I should be complaining that I’m not having game time but as well as some other players who are not having game time. So what if everyone starts complaining ?, we are one squad so everyone is not going to play at the same time”.

Revealed – Why Swansea City Have Slight Edge Over West Ham In Race To Sign Onyekuru

The race for hot in demand KAS Eupen forward Henry Onyekuru will hot up in the coming days when he is expected to decide between a host of teams in England, France and Germany who are after his signature.

Onyekuru will arrive England on Monday the 12th of June for talks with interested parties which includes West Ham United, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Swansea City.

The striker who is in the camp of the senior national team of Nigeria preparing for this weekend AFCON 2019 Qualifiers against South Africa has confessed his desires to move to Arsenal, but he could end up at Swansea City.

Represented by Mercato Sports, the leading agent in the company Mark Mckay has close ties with Swansea City after helping out in the recruitment of the Ayew brothers Andre and Jordan.

Same can be said of his ties with West Ham but his bridges with the team were burnt a bit after the high profile and controversial departure of one of his client Dmitri Payet in January.

Payet’s departure strained Mckay’s relationship with West Ham who are also in for Onyekuru, while Swansea City still regards him highly due to his role in the recruitment and sales of players that helped the club made money and also remained in the Premier League.

Chelsea's Nigerian Goal Machine Stars, New Mikel Rested As England Qualify For Another Final

England have qualified for the final of the Toulon Tournament for the second year in a row after thrashing Scotland 3-0 at the Stade Parsemain, Fos-sur-Mer in the semifinal on Thursday evening.

Earlier today, England's U20 team qualified for their first-ever World Cup final after coming from behind to beat Italy 3-1, with Dominic Solanke and Ademola Lookman registering their names on the scorecard.

Ugbo, who scored in the Young Lions opener versus Angola, was replaced after 64 minutes.

Italy Coach Admits England Won Because Of Liverpool Winger Sheyi Ojo's Magic

Italy U20 manager Alberico Evani has rued his side's 3-1 loss to England in the semifinal of the Fifa U20 World Cup, and admitted that the introduction of Sheyi Ojo changed the outcome of the game.

The Liverpool winger of Nigerian descent was a constant threat after coming on in the 54th minute, hit the woodwork, had three scoring opportunities and was involved in the build-up to two goals scored by Dominic Solanke and Ademola Lookman.

''England deserved the win, we played well in the first half but then we ran out of energy,'' said Evani to the official website of the Italian Federation, figc.it.

''We were tired in moving the ball , they created different chances and were able to score three with the help of their wingers.

''Now, we’ll play for third place against Uruguay.''

Italy will contest the third place playoff against Uruguay on Sunday, June 11, before England attempt to win the World Cup for the first time in their history when they take on Venezuela.
