Hello gurus in the house. Please I need assistance. I have completed my CDR and currently writing the CPD and summary. My problem is that I work in an engineering firm. I got the job with the job title of a draftsman. I took the job because I was assured that it was an entry position and would be upgraded upon confirmation after 6months. It is now 3yrs and the company has actually changed the title assistant engineer internally but no new employment letter issued to that effect. As it is now, my employment letter boldly carry "draftsman" and my payslips also carry draftsman. Please, how do I go about presenting this to EA for assessment for professional engineer. Please note, I had a two years work experience as an Engineer before joining this company and one of my career episode was based on this previous work experience. Please, kindly advise on what to do. Your suggestions would be highly appreciated. I'm a civil engineer |

House, please do I need to print my CDR, CV and summary statement and scan it back to PDF or JPEG before submitting to EA or I should just convert to PDF or JPEG and submit to EA? |

This one tire me; 15 mails to 3 different email addresses and even called? I was almost typing "call them" before reading the last line, LOL. It'd have been easier if you're in Nigeria as the direct contacts of those handling the bookings are available. You'd have to try to get the private contact of someone handling your route. Pending that, you just have to keep trying... Bnimz: |

Ok. Thanks for sharing. Na wa for these assessing bodies sef. Not highly relevant but still gave a positive outcome. I guess your work experience was what they capitalized on and made them give you something positive bebe ajiifixing: |

yungmin: As a former draftsman, draft your reference letter to reflect the title change. Your Ref letter could do the trick. Since your title has been changed internally, you won't be introduced as what you are not by your employer. If you have a company website that incorporates a corporate directory, open up your profile and print (assuming the title change reflected here). EA just needs to be convinced of whatever your claims are. |

Hi everyone, please I need some comment on this issue. My brother submit application to VETASSESS and today they sent him a message and here is the content; SKILLED MIGRATION ASSESSMENT Nominated Occupation: Chemist (ANZSCO Code: 234211) Qualification/s: 1. Bachelor of Science awarded in 2013 by Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria is assessed as comparable to the educational level of an AQF Bachelor degree and is therefore at the required level. Field of study Chemistry is highly relevant. Country of employment: Nigeria Employment assessed: 1. Chemist, xxxx Fresh Water (xx/xxxx to xx/xxxx) The employment Chemist, xxxx Fresh Water (xx/xxxx to xx/xxxx) does not meet the minimum requirements for this occupation as the tasks undertaken are not highly relevant to the ANZSCO tasks for the nominated occupation The employment described above does not meet the minimum requirements for this occupation as According to ANZSCO, a Chemist studies the chemical and physical properties of substances, and develops and monitors chemical processes and production. Based on the documents provided, the main purpose of the above employment position appears to be for the purpose of ensuring that the product complies with health policies and regulations regarding drinking water, which is not relevant to your nominated occupation as defined by ANZSCO. A positive assessment of both qualifications and employment is required for a positive Skills Assessment Outcome. Skills Assessment Outcome: Negative Based on the evidence provided, the qualifications and/or employment described above do not meet the Skills Assessment requirements of your nominated occupation. Please for people that have passed the assessment as chemist, please I need your contribution on what can do to change this negative to positive. |

mctowel01: the difference in height is only 5cm, that's about half the length of your middle finger. Don't bother yourself, I think you are okay. It's not as if they come to the check-in queue with a meter rule to measure the sizes of bags. |

Hello, please I need the suggestions of gurus in the house.. I am to resume at UNSW next month to study msc Petroleum Engineering but I found out that it's off the sol/csol list, please I think for PR purpose I'd need to change my course b4 resumption. I need opinions on what suitable course to switch to that would still be in the sol/csol list b4 I graduate. The only course on my mind is Environment Engineering but I don't know if it can stand the test of time |

Rett0:exactly! That's the best answer to this question but it's unfortunate you have to start by next month. Well, check with your school if it's possible to change program at any point. doyen06: The evidence your brother provided for his work experience does not match what they expect the job functions of a chemist to be. For you to get a positive assessment the experience should align with the Anzsco job description. They were satisfied with the degree but not the work experience. Sometimes you just need to be smart when submitting your CV and statement of service (the one provided by your employer). By being smart I mean; where you know that by Naija's standards you're doing the work of a chemist, you should have simply aligned your experience with what is in the anzsco description for chemist, as long as your employer would have been satisfied that those functions were part of your responsibilities. How you word these things also matter, I stand to be corrected but I think vetasses follows the anzsco job description to the latter, but will give room for modifications based on job done, they don't expect you to have done everything stated by anzco but to a large extent most of the functions. Your options; If you believe that your job function closely relates to that provided by anzsco, you may appeal the outcome of your assessment. You may also consider nominating another occupation that the job function aligns with what you have provided, but then you must remember that your qualification will also be re-assessed and needs to still be related to the new nominated occupation. Vetasses has your details now, i don't think you can go and simply realign you experience and submit another assessment for the same occupation, doing that will look fishy. Disclaimer ; The views expressed above are solely my thoughts and do not in any way guarantee that following them will lead to a positive outcome as these views are based on experience and posts from other experienced users on this forum.
