When Ababa Bikila won that night, a famous Italian newspaper said the next day, "Mussolini sent millions of soldiers to invade Ethiopia, but Ethiopia only send one imperial bodyguard to conquer Rome".

Kenya has been dominating almost in every category of athletics for the past 4 years. We have shown a decline in those times. I'm confident you will also dominate the 2017 world championship. How is the preparation of Kenyan athletics team right now?
Sorry I'll be honest with you, but i don't follow their team news very closely.

The color and it tastes kind of off. Hard to describe but it tastes artificial

42 tribes, not languages. Most tribes have several sub tribes which are languages in their own right.

Maras and Samia are at the complete opposite sides of understanding amogst luhyas. They struggle to understand each other, many a time they use swa to communicate, i have an example where i work where two of my colleagues are from both groups and they agree it's hard to understand the others dialect. I think they're therefore separate tribes. Some say the groups with several sub tribes emerged as a tribe during the colonial era for administrative purposes and for political purposes in forming KADU. . For example, before '52 all kalenjins were simply referred to as "Nandi" whereas there was a curious term called "Kavirondo" that grouped both luos and many of the luhya sub tribes. Agitation for separate identities and a need to form political parties actually created groups like kalenjin who have a similar dichotomy in spoken language between them as the luhyas do. Indeed many kale friends of mine tell me of how one innocent word in one dialect can be a complete insult in another. I think some languages within each subtribe have diverged sufficiently enough to become separate languages and hence tribes. It's like how Dutch and Afrikaans have evolved and developed separately to become different inspite of common origins.. I'd say the divergence of English from German would be a good example too.

Mozambique actually looks promising. They have discovered huge volumes of gas reserves which will have a great impact on the economy

Mozambique sees $30 bln investment for 2018 LNG exports startup

By Manuel Mucari

PEMBA, Mozambique, Aug 21 More than $30 billion will be invested initially in Mozambique's natural gas sector to build capacity to produce 20 million tonnes per year of liquefied natural gas (LNG), with the first exports due to start in 2018, the national oil company said.

The investments will be made to develop the northern ports of Pemba and Palma, where a giant logistics base and LNG production plants are planned that will use gas produced from offshore fields in the Rovuma Basin being developed by U.S. oil major Anadarko Petroleum Corp and Italy's Eni.

Mozambique, which still bears the scars of a 1975-1992 civil war, is hoping revenues from its large gas deposits and its fledgling coal mining industry will help it emerge from years of poverty and dependence on foreign donors.

The country holds presidential elections on Oct. 15.

"In an initial phase, liquefaction units with a total capacity for 20 million tonnes a year of LNG will be built and operated. The investment to be made tops $30 billion," Nelson Ocuane, president of the state oil company ENH, told Reuters.

The initial exports from 2018 will come from a first LNG train of 5 million tonnes a year, with overall capacity for the industry to be ramped up subsequently to 20 million tonnes per year.

Ocuane, speaking on the sidelines of the launch of the project for the Pemba port logistics base on Wednesday, did not give a detailed breakdown of who would make the investments, between foreign partners, the government and state entities.

Anadarko and Eni's commitments already run into several billions of dollars, but Ocuane's estimate was the first to put an overall cost tag on the first phase of Mozambique's LNG ambitions.

Mozambique's parliament last week approved amended legislation for the gas and oil sector, including a "special regime" for LNG development in Rovuma Basin Areas 1 and 4 where Anadarko and Eni are operating. This covered the construction and operation of LNG facilities and related activities.

Government officials have said this regime, aimed at attracting investment, includes the possibility of certain "exemptions" in contracts, but these have not been specified.

"Mozambique has good conditions to start exporting in 2018 because all the investment plans indicate that the essential infrastructure will be in place by then," Ocuane said.

Officials say fresh bidding rounds for Mozambican gas and oil concessions would be held in the coming months.

The International Monetary Fund, which sees Mozambique's economy growing 8 percent annually in the medium term - one of the highest rates in Africa - has said the country can expect "substantial revenues" from LNG by 2022.

But it says Mozambique faces risks from climate disasters, commodity price shocks and variations in global demand for its coal and gas, as well as "financing risks for megaprojects".

Some industry analysts say Mozambique may struggle to meet its target date of 2018 for the start of LNG exports. They say it must develop its LNG potential by the end of this decade as other supplies come on the market from West and East Africa and the global supply/demand scenario shifts, with the United States moving from energy importer to exporter.

Of the world's LNG, about 70 percent is consumed by China, South Korea, India, Japan and Taiwan, and Ocuane said it was these Asian customers Mozambique would aim to supply.

Around 180 trillion cubic feet of gas has been found in Mozambique's offshore Rovuma Basin. This would be enough to supply Germany, Britain, France and Italy for 18 years.

The men's clothing is known as agbada, which is the big jacket/tunic worn over the buba (the shirt) and with the sokoto(trouser) on the bottom. Women also wear buba on top (the shirt) and tie the iro (wrapper) on the bottom. The piece of clothing placed on the women's shoulder is known as ipele (sash). The hat won by men is known as fila(hat) with many variants of the hat like the abeti aja, tinko, gobi etc. There are a lot of clothing styles, these are just the few. In weddings the relatives of the husband wear similar wear/patterns (aso ebi) and the wife's relatives have wear their own style/patterns.

Those clothing up there actually have history that goes back over a millennium ago. Centuries ago during the Oyo empire, the agbada was worn by royalty, the nobility or by commoners on special occasions. The name of the fabric used to weave the clothing is called aso oke meaning top attire. Aso oke is a very old pure cotton fabric that is made from spun cotton threads that are died and weaved on a loom. In most societies, the women usually do the weaving, however in Yoruba culture, the men traditionally weave aso oke.
Thanks

What! Ethiopians being among the top spots in visiting Mombasa. I'm surprised, because I never thought Ethiopians visit other countries as a tourist that much.

Yes, but they are not they are not the majority. Bauchi is made up of dozens of ethnic groups and none is a majority, so all the ethnic groups are essentially minorities in Bauchi.

So Hausa happen to spread across several states. I read they are like 24 million in Nigeria alone.

I don't think they r up to 24million... It's all manipulation cos some fulanis r included as Hausa when in reality they are not e.g Dangote, mamman shata and el rufai r all classified as Hausas.

terrible! NIGERIA remains the giant of AFRICA. Statistically your facts in this post does not bring to bare the population differences in both countries. We need to look at it holistically although NIGERIA is in shambles comparing us with KENYA is bad. Very bad.
