Up to Grade 6, they do learn the different subjects other than Amhargn and English Subjects by their local languages.

After Grade 7 till end of University, all Ethiopians learn using English except for Amhargn and other languages related subjects/cours.


I'm also amazed by this. During Oromo population movement, almost all Oromos around Adal heavily mixed with the Hararis and may be the majority of those mixed started to identify themselves as Oromo.

In the case of Amharas, after Menelik army defeated Hararis in the 1890s, many Amharas stolen lands from the locals and settled their.

After the conquest, many northerners started to settle in all the conquered areas guarded by soldiers called "Neftegnas". Actually, my father parents settled from north to south under this system. Since my father was true socialist, he opposed this system.

I think because Adama had been very influenced by the Amharanizition process in the past and that effect is still affecting it. Most Oromos surrounding Addis Ababa can speak Amhargn, so they may use Amhargn for public situations in Adama.

I don't know how it's possible for them to have Addis as their capital. They even call Addis Ababa as "Finfina". They say Finfina was stolen from them by Shewa Amhara Atse(emperor) Menelik II. It's a funny claim, because they themselves too conquered and stole that area from Abyssinia Amharas.

The reason Atse(emperor) Menelik II conquered SW, S and SE areas isn't only to bring back the previously lost areas, but also to retaliate Oromos for their brutal expansion. It's believed that Menelik soldiers had annihilated(massacred, mutated and sold as a slave) half of Oromo population back then. Now, they are majority and causing problems.
