Also, if only experience counts... Then Nigerian troops are equally inexperienced as the SANDF as Nigerian troops have never conducted high-intensity operations... And unlike the SANDF, you dont train for them.

Not worth arguing with citizens of a country boasting of their '25 year laid off military duty' Rhino hunter armed forces. Please focus on posting photos on this thread, many thanks.

AIRCRAFT REACTIVATION: NAF BENEFITS FROM PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL FIRM

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has revealed some of the benefits being enjoyed by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in its approach to aircraft reactivation. As much as practicable, the NAF now carries out major maintenance on its aircraft locally, either in conjunction with local companies or by inviting foreign experts to come and carry out the reactivation in Nigeria. Aside from the huge cost savings in foreign currency, he stated that more of NAF technicians are gaining technical expertise while the reactivation turnaround times are now much reduced. The CAS made the revelations on the final day of his 2-day operational visit to the NAF’s 115 Special Operations Group (SOG) in Port Harcourt, where he inspected 2 NAF helicopters that were undergoing reactivation. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of work, which when completed, would further boost the operational effectiveness of the NAF. The helicopters undergoing reactivation include one Dauphin Helicopter, being reactivated at the facility of AeroContractors in Port Harcourt, and one Mi-35P Helicopter, being reactivated by some foreign experts in conjuction with NAF technicians in Port Harcourt. The CAS and his team also witnessed a ground instruction class, in which an experienced civilian pilot from AeroContractors was teaching young NAF pilots. While reiterating his call for similar organizations and companies to lend their support to the NAF, in its current campaigns, Air Marshal Abubakar commended AeroContractors for making its services available to the NAF at no cost.

The CAS later visited the operational wing of 115 SOG, where he was briefed on the Unit’s contributions to the operations in the North East and in the South South of the country. Thereafter, Air Marshal Abubakar inspected other ongoing projects in the Unit. The projects inspected included the nearly completed Base Defence Coordination Centre, from where all the measures towards protecting the Unit's air assets would be coordinated. He also visited the Unit’s Medical Centre, which was being modified to accommodate X-ray and dialysis equipment. The medical centre was also being expanded to create an additional ward.

It would be recalled that the CAS commenced the operational visit to 115 SOG Port Harcourt on 7 July 2017, when he called for support from relevant civilian organizations and companies in the NAF’s fight against insecurity in Nigeria. He had also earlier commissioned a new residential accommodation for airmen and airwomen. The new accommodation was named after a fallen heroine, Aircraftwoman Abdulmalik.

if NAF is lucky enough to have such leadership for the next 20 years it'll be good news after good news.
NAF has become so transparent that we don't even have to speculate anymore as the latest news comes to us from official sources.

Out of interest: Why do you think the Russians developed the Mi-28 unlike the Mi-24 without troop carrying capacity but similar to the Apache with a narrow fusalage?

It makes you wonder what Badeh and his co-horts, Amosu and CO, we're doing there? undecided undecided

Exactly, that's what is so great about NAF. The service is so transparent, we know what, when and where it's been done.

Nothing is hidden. We know the challenges, we know the progress, we know everything.

The army and navy especially need to sit up.

Your question should be, why do the Russians still continue to field build and field more MI-35s? Why in a combat area like Syria the MI-35 continues to do most of the work despite the presence of the MI-28 and KA-52?

Dedicated attack helicopters are used to escort UN food in places like Congo while undedicated attack helicopters are used to send terrorist to their Graves in places like Iraq, Syria, Nigeria, Libya, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc.

The first kinetic strike of the first gulf war was by dedicated attack helicopters.

The effectiveness of such designs can't be judged. Regardless of rotors we are going to see me more designs still following the American-first dedicated attack helicopter without troop carrying capacity.

From China, India, South Africa and others in Europe attack helicopter designs grow from the Cobra attack helicopter branch. The Mi-24 one is dead only upgrades will be available.

Countries with well funded militaries and operating the Mi-24 have or are replacing it with attack choppers from the Cobra branch.

The rubbi...sh here is cause Nigeria flies the type. If your air force chaps flew some other design you'd still say it's of better design regardless of what well funded militaries with better procurement and testing facilities acquire.

The reason why the aircraft carries troop is in here. You just give silly excuses.

Guys, let me tell you something. Our combatant class ships are dedicated attack ships because they're missile boats and they are of combatant class but the MEKO FRIGATE is not a dedicated naval ship as it carries alot of troops therefore putting many lives at risk during attacks.

Case closed.

Do you mind if I join the d@ck slinging.

Tell me what's the difference between a Mi-35 and a Mi-28 in terms of roles and operational efficiencies.

Killing ISIS, yes it works... Anything can kill ISIS. But would Russia deploy a Hind against NATO? It wouldn't coz it's a poorman's attack helicopter.

Here's a list of attack helicopters if you're serious
