Prolivingproof: Yes, I saw it. But have you checked anzsco search to see that no state is nominating it? |
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by Prolivingproof(m): 9:34pm On Jul 15, 2017 |
koleefem05: I guess If you are qualified for 189, state nomination may not be pertinent, except you are bereaved of cumulative points. |

I think the above mentioned occupations moved from the STSOL to MTLSSL were for visa subclass 186, 187 and 457. Please, the ogas should confirm this as well. 1 Like |

depair: Where your occupation is in any of the two lists will determine what subclass you can apply for. If you see your occupation in MLTSSL list, you can apply for subclass 189, if it is on STSOL list, you can apply for either 190 or 489 which are states/regional areas sponsored visa. However, if you can find your occupation in both list, it means you can apply for any of the three if you don't meet up to 60 points on your own, you will need either 5 or 10 points from State or Regional area as the case may be |

Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by Nobody: 9:40am On Jul 16, 2017 |
chuglothen: This is from VETASSES If the qualification is not in a highly relevant field, two years of employment at an appropriate skill level, completed in the last five years which is highly relevant to the nominated occupation is required. This is reduced to one year if there is an additional qualification at least at AQF Certificate IV level in a highly relevant field. |

Cottyekundayo: You guys are doing amazing things by pointing people in the right direction on this forum. I really appreciate your effort. Just to say this that DIBP website is not the final authority when it comes to Australia migration. As a matter of fact, registered agents don't refer to it. Legislative Acts, regulations, instruments and policies are the final authorities of which public don't have access to. As per the issue in contention whether "Petroleum Engineer and other occupations" have been added to MLTSSL or not. Just to clarify this authoritatively, It has NOT been added to MLTSSL available to those who want to apply through GSM path. If you are applying for any GSM (General Skilled Migration e.g 189,489 visa etc )occupations, you can only nominate occupation which in this legislative instrument: https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2017L00850 With respect to the occupation MLTSSL list that DIBP refers to on their website that includes "Petroleum Engineer", you can only use that if you are being sponsored for 186 (Employer nominated visa) or 457 (4years-MLTSSL or 2years-STSOL ). https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work/Skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists/combined-stsol-mltssl Don't make the mistake of assessing your occupation as a Petroleum Engineer hoping to be invited for any GSM visa; It is a waste of money. I would advise you should consider other options that will lead to PR. 10 Likes |

depair: It's good as you've put up your details here. More experience housemates can help you, as my knowledge on that is limited. However, Geologist is on STSOL list and is assessed by VETASSESS. The requirement is a year post qualification experience. So weigh your options. Other gurus might also offer you some help and suggestions |
