Junnaid: On another hand, you could settle for their 489 but read through the requirements and conditions attached carefully. Be sure you are satisfied with them Also, does your spouse have her occupation on the occupation list? If not, you can't claim partner skills point |
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by Kayla10: 2:11pm On Aug 02, 2017 |
Junnaid: It would be best for you to trawl through other state migration sites to see ones that have your selected occupations on the list. If you find ones that do, check their requirements to see if you qualify. |

SegunWamiri: The 489 requires the same or for him/her to have family in Tas (they have to be on permanent resident visas) or come as a small business owner. |

SegunWamiri: What of Adelaide? I really don't like the 489. I think she has her job on the list. But ur point is noted with regards to points from her, if her job isn't there. Hence, what's the way forward? |

Kayla10: My occupation is also in Adelaide and Sydney. However, that of Sydney is on visa sub class 489. So how can I assess their requirements. |

Kayla10: There has been an adjustment to the criteria some time last month. Category 3A – Overseas Applicant To be considered for this category you must be living overseas and meet the following criteria: nominated occupation is listed on the Tasmanian Skilled Occupations List (TSOL) you, or any of your dependents have not lived in another Australian state or territory within the last twelve months achieved at least ‘Proficient English’ in a recognised English language test or hold a passport of the UK, Ireland, the USA, Canada or New Zealand researched the Tasmanian labour market and provide evidence (see Document Checklist) that there are sufficient employment opportunities (at least five and not more than eight opportunities) in your nominated occupation in Tasmania; and that you have: skills and recent experience relevant to the researched employment opportunities skills and experience relevant to the Tasmanian economy access to sufficient financial assets to fund your migration and settlement in Tasmania while you seek employment If your application is one of high calibre, and the Tasmanian Government is satisfied that you will be able to secure employment with ease due to your skills and previous work experience you may be invited to apply for the Subclass 190 - Skilled Nominated visa. |

Junnaid: Click on the book& pen- like image in front so as to take you to their website For Adelaide, you'll need 85 points. 80 from you and 5 from state sponsorship |

Junnaid: What's your spouse's occupation? If you really...do not like 489, then your only option would be Adelaide's 190 but if you don't have enough experience, you might not be able to meet up with the 85 points thingy |

SegunWamiri: I graduated since 2009 and started work since 2011 till date on my line of profession. However, the 85 points thing isn't easy oooo. Can u pls enlighten me on this 489 class or what decision I should take as this Adelaide isn't a child's play. What's the prospect in tasmania 489 class or Sydney 489 class? Since I doubt if I will fit in for any of the 190 class. |
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by SegunWamiri(m): 2:46pm On Aug 02, 2017 |
Junnaid: I see that's 6-7 years depending on which month in 2011. After VETASSESS assessment, the highest you could be left with is 5years if they decide to be nice and that's still 5 points. Meanwhile, I also noticed that urban and regional planner is a Skill level 1 occupation meaning that by university standards, you must have finished your program in 4 years from a Federal school or five years in a state or private school to be able to get a positive assessment. In your case, it's a polytechnic (4) years and PGD (1) year. I'm not too sure how this might play out with VETASSESS assessment. Let's wait to hear from others |

SegunWamiri: The pgd is 2 years. It's a professional and post graduate diploma. Also i think 5 years to 8 years is 10 points. |
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by SegunWamiri(m): 3:12pm On Aug 02, 2017 |
Junnaid: Yes, you're right 10 points starts from 5years but I know from calculations, you would need at least 15 points from experience even with 20 points from English proficiency in order to meet up with Adelaide's 85 points criteria As per 489, someone said earlier last week that it is more like a senior student visa..lolz. It gets you into the country but you would have to go through some trials to survive at the beginning as you are not entitled to ANY government benefits. If you have a family, it could be more difficult to settle in. Adelaide could be worse considering that it's currently rated as the state with the highest unemployment rate. So my advice is look into NSW's website. Check for the requirements for nomination and see if you'll meet up. For some people, it is believed that 489 in Australia is better than staying in naija |

SegunWamiri: May be I should delay it for another 8/9 months perhaps they would have change their policy and I would av finish my ongoing masters. It's just a thought. Place kindly advice as appropriate if my proposed decision isn't good enough. Thanks |

You can go for 190 Adelaide Bros why delay for 8 to 9 months to start when others are trying to move fast due to changes everyday from the new Government? my advice is please check if you are eligible for any visa type be it 489. If you can scale through vetassess please go with whatever you have at hand because no one here can tell you what will be their next plan. As per 489 it is a live and work visa that allows you to work as much as you can, if you are married your children will go to public school for free. Also pray that none of your house hold will fall ill beyond what you can afford as the visa does not include medicals bearing in mind that some of us still pay for medicals in naija even with our HMO benefit. NSW will be a better choice for you due to work wise and your 489 can be converted to PR after 2 years of staying in that region as long as you meet their requirements. The choice is yours . Bamz:Thanks Bamz..."my choice really". I think with practice, I should do better in IELTS writing. I had 8 in IELTS Speaking in my first attempt, compared to 63 in PTE. I'll just put in more efforts this time in IELTS. No, I didn't take the PTEpractice mock. |

@Junnaid, What is your spouse's qualification and occupation? Your headache now should be getting positive assessment from vetasses.. As it is, your best bet is the NSW's 489 which in my opinion is better than nothing... @Lawland... Alrighty... |
