oh really? Did in play in the first tier?

I'd rather we try out Cyriel dessers before any of them. His performance last season trumps theirs by any definition.

Nope, 2nd tier.
And he played a huge part in their promotion to the first division.
I'd play him in place of Osimhen who's had 45 minutes of action last season.
All we know about Sadiq Umar is his performance in preseason so far.

Good argument. But hasn't the new season started already? Let's watch to see if he can start on a good note at least.

Dessers scored all those goals in a lower division. I would rate Sadiq above him based on what i have seen of pre season. Sadiq needs a full season next year, maybe with a lower club.

My going for Dessers was totally based on last season's performance.

Yes, he played in the 2nd tier last term, but the goals he contributed was just enough to see them promoted to the 1st division.

Osimhen had just 45 minutes of action last season, he's not ready.

I'm not a big fan of Sadiq Umar, I watched him during the Olympics and it would take more than a fine performance in preseason to convince me.

Nigerian striker Bazee set for an operation

Hanover's Martin Harnik (L) celebrates with teammates Noah Joel Sarenren Bazee (C) and Oliver Sorg after scoring

by Austin Ditlhobolo

German club Hannover 96 have announced that Nigeria international Noah Joel Sarenren Bazee will undergo an operation on his injured thigh.

The promising striker has suffered a tendon rupture in the rear left thigh according to Hannover's official website.

A club statement read: "Bitter Diagnosis for Noah Joel Sarenren Bazee: The 20-year-old, who had to be replaced yesterday after an offensive in the test match against the 1. FC Germania Egestorf / Langreder, has suffered a tendon rupture in the rear left thigh.

"Injury is treated conservatively
This was the result of today's investigations with our team doctors Dr. Axel Partenheimer and Dr. Felix Hessel. The duo could exclude a muscle injury. Sarenren Bazee will go around for an operation. The injury is to be treated conservatively. We wish Noah fast recovery and good recovery."

As a result, Bazee could miss Nigeria's 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon which will take place on 31 August and 4 September 2017.

Hannover will take on Mainz 05 in their first 2017/18 Bundesliga match on 19 August 2017.

Bursaspor To Present Super Eagles Midfielder Mikel On Monday After Reaching Agreement With Porto

Turkish Super Lig side Bursaspor have agreed a loan deal with Portuguese side FC Porto for their 24 year old Nigerian midfielder Mikel Agu, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
The hard working defensive midfielder will spend a season on loan with the Turkish side, with Porto giving them the option to buy him permanently next summer for a fee in excess of €5m.
Mikel will arrive Turkey before his presentation on Monday by the team that once had Taiye Taiwo on their books, and presently have William Troost-Ekong and little known Nigerian player Sean Okoli with their first team.
Last season Mikel’s fine performances for Victoria Setubal where he spent the season on loan earned him a fresh deal with the Portuguese side, but he failed to convince new coach Sergio de Conceiacao during pre season games.
The one cap senior international of Nigeria sat out the last two test games of the Portuguese giants, with the coach leaving him out after talks started over his transfer from the team.

Leicester City Boss Reveals Why Iheanacho Was Substituted In Debut Game

Coach of Leicester City Craig Shakespeare has explained the reason why Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho was substituted in his first game for the club.

Iheanacho was introduced after the hour mark, but replaced shortly after he bag an assist for Jamie Vardy to score what ended as the winner for Leicester City in their 2-1 pre season win over Borussia Monchengladbach.

His substitution was due to a knock picked up during the course of the game, but manager Shakespeare revealed his substitution was precautionary and nothing serious.

” Last thing he needed was another kick on it. So we played it safe”, he said after the game.

Leicester City Manager Speaks On Iheanacho’s Debut – He Has Made An Impact Already

Despite lasting only 18 minutes in his first game for Leicester City, Kelechi Iheanacho has earned the praise of coach Craig Shakespeare for the role he played in their comeback 2-1 win over Borrusia Monchenglabach in their last pre season game.

Iheanacho was substituted minutes after he was introduced due to a knock, which the manager said isn’t serious, but despite not spending much time on the pitch he ‎made his mark by setting up Jamie Vardy for the winner.

The coach praised the 20 year old who made his switch from Manchester City to Leicester City just 24 hours before the game against Borrusia Monchenglabach.

Shakespeare, speaking at full-time, told LCFC TV: “He’s fine in there. He’s getting a bit of a ribbing from the players in terms of him coming off.

“You can see the impact he’s had. We’re just really making sure that was more of a precaution. He hasn’t trained very often, he hasn’t been able to because of circumstance.

“The more minutes he can get on the pitch, the more liable he will be to last 90 minutes.”

Omeruo Puts Himself Up As Option For Chelsea Coach Conte In Defence

Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo has suggested he could be an option to Chelsea coach Antonio Conte who has openly cried out about the lack of depth in his squad ahead of the start of the Premier League season.

Conte’s squad is decimated in terms of size following the departure of so many players who contributed to the depth of the squad that won the League title last season.

Omeruo who has been out on loan since joining Chelsea in 2012 has so far not been heavily involved in the training sessions of the first team as he appears not to be in the first team plans of coach Conte.

However a door appears to have open for the defender following the lack of heavy spending at Chelsea this season, as so far only Antonio Rudigier was signed to beef up the defence of the team.

The Nigerian put his hands up for selection with a post on social media where he confirmed his readiness to help out Chelsea on instagram with a post that reads ” Pre season finally done.. #Om‎eruo #Chelseafc #preseason”.

23 year old Omeruo spent the last one week with the U18s of Chelsea in France, and played a part in their test game played over the weekend. A decision on his imminent future is however expected to be made soon.

Done Deal – Arsenal Loan Out Top Prospect Kelechi Nwakali To Dutch Side VVV Venlo

Arsenal will in the coming days confirmed the departure of highly rated Nigerian teen prospect Kelechi Nwakali to newly promoted Dutch top flight side VVV Venlo.
Nwakali spent last season on loan to second division Dutch side MVV Maastricht and starred in games against Venlo who have now secured his signature for the upcoming season.
He will arrive in the Netherlands next week to formally kick start his career with the Dutch side from where Arsenal will monitor his progress in view of giving him a chance in their main team in the future.
Last season Arsenal other highly rated youngster Gedion Zelalem spent the season on loan to Venlo, who were promoted to the top division last season and once upon a time had as many as four Nigerians on their books.
Ahmed Musa, Uche Nwofor, Alex Nkume and Micahel Uchebo were at a time on the books of the Dutch side who are hoping to maintain their top flight status after regaining promotion.

Until we find a striker who is more lethal than Iheanacho he remains my top pick for the CF position.

We just need to set up the team to maximize Iheanacho's ability.

Osimhen, and Sadiq are not ready yet. And Kayode is not lethal enough.

For now I don't buy the 4-4-2 formation.

My eye will also be on Aaron Samuel to see if he can find back his 2014 form.

EPL is highly commercial and competitive. You have to be very exceptional to be in the first team of those top clubs you mentioned. These are clubs who feel being in the top 4 is their birth right. Arsenal is an exception though.

Tammy to Swansea is not a bad move.

same ideye who just got demoted to the reserve team...for his club?
he is the perfect example of a greedy player who cares less about his football career...
he was fast becoming a renowed striker in Europe...and would have won the golden boot in Greece these past season...
but the Chinese millions enticed him and he went ahead sacrificed his place in Greece....
there are other players to partner nacho....
hopefully Tammy gets some sense prior next world cup.. him too can be an added option
