Owerri city police was launched today by Imo CP.

The 50 Police Cars for Owerri. It's like every street in Owerri with a Police car.

Criminals do whatever you like in other parts of Imo state outside Owerri.

Well, by 2019, a saner governor shall distribute the vehicles to police the entire Imo state.

Okorocha wants to be seen from Owerri as good material for president. Little did he know that people are not fools.

Well, Imo state is seeing something that looks like a flyover for the first time in the state. They should come and learn how to do a 21st century infrastructures from us. cheesy

Okoroawusa has wasted 8yrs with nothing reasonable to show for all the debts, bailouts, federal allocations etc.

IMO STATE GOVERNMENT: Sponsorship of New Generation of Film and Movies Artists, 220 Graduands from Imo State, Trained by Africa Film Academy (Organisers of AMA Award)
By: Anthony Akalugo
**********************************

The Government of Imo State ably led by Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha, OON, partnered with Africa Film Academy (AFA) the organisers of AMA Award to train a total of 220 candidates from Imo State in the art of film making, directing, script writing, acting, costuming, etc. The candidates, after undergoing intensive three (3) weeks training were today graduated from the institute.

Many of the participants testified to the quality of training and their readiness to take the industry by storm, having been fully equipped. Movies written and acted by the candidates were shown the audience.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Founder of the Institute, Ms Peace Anyiam-Osuigwe praised the governor of Imo State for his commitment to empowering the citizens of Imo State through sponsorship of such a program she rated as expensive and which might not have been easily afforded by many.

She stated that their charge for 3 weeks training program, of the standard given to the candidates cost $1,000.00 per candidate and the same grade of training costs $4,000.00 at American Film Institute. She wondered how many of the candidates that would have been able to afford such fees. She testified that Owelle did not allow her to even collect as little as N5, 000.00 for application fee, everything was free for the participants.

She was full of praises to Owelle Rochas Okorocha for his passion to tap into the multi-million dollar spinning creative industry, adding that Imo State can easily become the hub of movie industry in Africa. According to Ms Peace Anyiam-Osuigwe, economies such as California and others became robust as a result of the contributions of creative industry.

She further stated that her team has the capacity to replicate their processes recorded in different countries in Africa to transform the economy of Imo State.

Ms Peace Anyiam-Osuigwe revealed that Imo State has exciting locations such as Oguta Lake and other interesting locations that can be used to shoot world-class films in the Niger Delta. According to her, the fact that the government of Imo State identified with her and sponsored the candidates to get trained is a clear show of solidarity with her in her streams of successes recorded across Africa and the West. According to her, a prophet has finally come to be recognized at home, courtesy of Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

Owelle Rochas Okorocha has once again demonstrated his commitment to leave lasting legacies in the life of Imo citizens. Sponsoring training and empowerment of a generation is monumental. It is hoped that future leaders of the industry will emerge from among the collation of empowered candidates. The assessment and recommendation of such novel ideas would have received approval through the cutting-edge and forward thinking of the Chief of Staff, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, who was significantly lauded for his role in seeing the project come through.

The government of Imo State has not only trained Imo citizens in film industry but has gone ahead to set up Eastern Heartland Film Fund to support people to take the industry by storm.

Investing in this noble project is indeed another testament of forward thinking empowerment agenda. As Owelle promised during his re-election bid to focus on job creation and empowerment, there is no doubt that fundamental actions are being undertaken to change the economic landscape of Imo State through skills acquisition, sponsorship and endowment. This is a good initiative that provides a system wide enablement of training and sponsorship through empowerment. Good one indeed.

As this event is coming on the heels of the attraction of established musical stars and recording companies who, barely a week ago, came on the sponsorship of Imo State Rescue Mission Government to sign-up twenty (20) artists, an event that held at Imo International Convention Centre (IICC), there is no doubt that the Rescue Mission Government is seriously tackling the mantra of joblessness through training and empowerment.

Although building hotels are good, Rochas should use his APC influence to do something tangible for Imo State. He should emulate El-Rufai doing concrete things for Kaduna and nor building hotels for ashewo.

SMICA (Sam Mabakwe International Cargo airport) is only "International" in name. He should use his influence to get the authorities to approve SMICA for international flights, then he will work with Aba based importers and business community to get an airline to fly into Owerri. Even if it is Egypt Air or Kenya Airways to begin with. SMICA can also have connecting flights to key African countries where the Aba based business people usually cargo and export their goods. These are how to help your state develop and not merely building hotels.

Imo State government led by Rochas Okorocha has constructed a brand new Cargo Airport in Owerri without noise. The cargo Airport is over 80% completed and bigger than the old Airport. Everything you wrote has already been done and a new Airforce base has been established there for security and federal presence.

Let Rochas focus hard on helping SMICA resume international flights the way El-Rufai got Ethiopian airline to Kaduna. Owerri has the overwhelming advantage of being very close to Aba and will boom if things are done well for SMICA. He should also get his friends Buhari and Fashola to complete the Aba Owerri road which they since abandoned.

Let Buhari do one good thing for Rochas who has been running his mouth for him and helped him secure the party's nomination by claiming he too was contesting, just to rubbish Igbo votes that would have gone to other candidates.

If Rochas was able to set up basic flight services to even if he gets Kenya airways to combine Owerri to their Accra or Dakar or Douala flights with stopover at SMICA, it would cement his legacy after Sam Mbakwe who built that airport from community fund raising activities. The firs airport in Nigeria built purely out of funds raised by the people themselves.

It seems you are not an Imolite. Sam Mbakwe didn't build any Airport as the Airport was built in the late 80s and early 90s with money contributed by ordinary citizens of old Imo State which included Abia and Ebonyi. However Rochas Okorocha has built a new one that is actually a cargo Airport with state funds hoping for reimbursement from FG.

Bia Nwokem Shatap!
These are the types of lies you peddle that makes people fight with you.

I even donated to the Owerri airport dream even when Ike Nwachukwu was military administrator because Mbakwe had set up an endowment fund for the project at universities.

Rochas is only building six canopies he calls cargo warehouses where goods will be stored for N7 billion naira. imagine that one canopy costs more than N1 billion naira according to Rochas! Stop posting silly links that has nothing to do with reality. The image in your link is not SMICA, it is a European airport. Rochas hasn't even finished building his six storage rooms, yet you claim he built an airport.

Do you know how much it cost Mbakwe to clear the area and build a 2.7 KM runway that can take a jumbo jet?
Do you know how it cost Mbakwe to build the terminal building which even renovation of the building is a big headache for the present people running airports in Nigeria?

Please read my moniker and know who you are discussing with.

Thank God you owned up that you didn't know what happened.

Now Imo airport was built from the scratch to finish through community self help. The compensation paid for the land, the clearing of the trees, the survey of the place, runway construction and later terminal building. It took such a long time because the communities were donating N10,000 or N50,000 naira. Many Imo philanthropists including Arthur Nzeribe, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu also donated. After the Buhari military coup of 1984, Mbakwe was removed from power. Yet, people were donating to the project and it continued at a very slow pace under the military due to corruption that followed.

Why ask me when Mbakwe left office? Why not ask the man that criminally removed democratically elected government the date he did it?
Why not ask Buhari for the date he truncated democratic governance in Nigeria and started military rule that completely ruined the country?
