I finished from Covenant University,
B.sc Marketing, 2:2 with a CGPA of 3.27. I am currently running an MBA degree at ABU Zaria and will be through by Mid Next year or latest Oct Next year. My fiancé studied Industrial chemistry and she's into Fashion Design.

What if I try teaching
.. I can take Business Studies or any business line. But like I said I currently work with a Fed Govt Security agency can't mention the name currently cause it's sensitive

Saw Marketing Specialist but I feel competition might be so much.. kindly find attached

Bold 1: Covenant is a tier 2 University according to AQF. Therefore your degree will likely be assessed to equal AQF associate degree except it is a five year course.
The implication is that Marketing specialist is a skill level 1 occupation which requires qualification assessed as equivalent to AQF Bachelor degree.

Bold 2: Does she have any recognised qualification or registered organisation training certificate for the fashion design skill? If she has, she can nominate dressmaker/Tailor occupation.

Bold 3: You can't nominate teaching because it is a regularised profession and it requires a qualification in education as the minimum. So, teaching is a no no.

Bold 4: Do you work for the Owl?

Bold 5: It is not about the competition but your qualification. Refer to point 1.

Can my MBA cover for the first point. Meaning that I have to wait till I am through.

At Bold 2. Nope she doesn't except we try to work towards that now

At Bold 4. Yes though most people can now code that

@Bold 5 meaning that for now I don't stand a chance

Yes your MBA can cover but it will cut down your experience.

@4, I once was a staff. You can modify the quote.

If you have enough money, you can come as a student first and work towards the PR.

Dear Fam,

Let me celebrate the small victories 'cause I know the major ones are not far ahead! Few of you may remember the back and forth about claiming points for qualification even when not assessed by the assessing body. In my case I desperately needed additional 5 points and took a plunge which was not for the faint hearted (lol) and claimed my BSc anyway. I then paid for VETASSESS Point Test Advise and expected to results out in 10-12 weeks like most people here have stated. But it took 1 week from them receiving my transcript and 3 weeks from my application for them to give me my outcome.

My degree? AQF Bachelors Degree! I no fit happy finish!!!

Hi ZeoW, congratulations. I want to ask what degree type you assessed before you assessed your bsc? Did you do a full assessment of your employment and degree before you did this assessment with vetassess? And if vetassess is your assessing body but you only want to claim points for qualification and not employment would the point test advice be sufficient or would I still have to do the full assessment of both qualification and employment?

Does one have to evaluate degree via VETASSESS if one goes through RPL route?

@admixture,

You don't need to add your MSc. The Bachelor degree is enough. Most important thing is writing a convincing CDR to get a professional engineer assessment.

What were you doing between 2008-2012?
Thanks for your swift response, I graduated 2008,did my NYSC 2009-2010,started master degree 2011-2014,got my job 2012 - till date
I was thinking if I will be able to use my M.Eng project for the CDR write up.

@Jamson,

You have committed the same error you accused others of. It is an erroneous belief that Sydney offers the highest pay rate compared to rest of the states.

According to state governments payscale, Sydney is still behind WA and NT.

Sydney is a nice place for those who don't mind living in a unit... tongue

You can use your undergraduate thesis, IT for the CDR. Part of your masters can be used for CPD

This question was thoroughly thrashed on this thread a while back with some gurus saying you can go ahead and claim qualification points after confirming your defree AQF on CEP and other gurus saying you need to do the PTA. I did this as a backup plan for my peace and sanity but it came early enough to use in my application. So the choice is yours.

I think the idea is skilled qualification. This PTA is only to claim qualification and not to assess your skill. Even if you want to claim qualification points alone for your skill and not experience, it has to be assessed by the relevant authority with a positive outcome that u are suitable for that skill. PTA is not sufficient. I did my assessment with ACS through the RPL route.

No offense taken at all, your views are your and mine are mine. But I just need to clarify - I am leaving Nigeria because my own efforts have no consequence on the future of the country. I believe that those of us who finally choose to leave are doing so either out of ambition, vision, frustration, our children or a combination of all these and much more. As far as I see; our parents and grandparents generations failed us by "letting God judge". We deserve the leaders we have but even if we don't want to become them, the longer we are trapped here, The more we will likely become what we hate. It's just like Cancer. You may believe that "we" failed Nigeria but I hold that Nigeria as a collective has failed me. I support and help all those who seek a better life elsewhere. I'm out.
Omooloriredade:

Hmm....I felt a need to correct an impression here seeing the emphasis you laid.
Kindly imagine what would happen in a decade if there was a transfer of people (everyone) in Australia to Nigeria and vice versa. I leave you to your imaginations.
To a large extent, WE failed Nigeria (a country) after which we are called by the decision we took, our actions and inactions etc
Same way God made man and gave us the earth to cultivate and flourish in. So many things are wrong with the world we live in today. Who's to blame? The world itself?
As we migrate to Australia, we have no choice but to adapt, reorientate where necessary. If Australia permits migrants to "to do as they do" back home, we will turn Australia to "Nigeria" in no time.

Please don't take this personal...... it's a popular belief I don't subscribe to. Hence, my response. Cheers.

Wasere! I was nominated by NSW and I can't wait to enter Sydney. I initially wanted the quietness of Canberra but thank God Sydney is where I'm headed. A friend of mine who moved there in May lives in Mount Druitt and although his commute is long, he has had nothing but praise for the "sanity" he sees. He got his first job 6 days after landing and an even better one, 7 weeks later. If Sydney is rough to them, I'm sure it will be a joy to me and my family. @jamson I've PM'd you. I hope we connect soon enough.
jamson:

Where you dey run go?

This is what a lot of people misunderstand

We say Sydney is to Australia what Lagos is to Nigeria. That does not necessarily infer that Sydney is like Lagos. That's Ignoratio Elenchi (finally, Logic n Phylosophy class came handy...lolzz)

It depends on what exactly you are running from in Lagos Nigeria.

Public transportation (no matter how disappointing they might be at times) is generations ahead of what's obtainable in Lasgidi. I can decide to live 40kms away from work and still catch a train (wey no dey enter gidi like traffic hold up)

Yes, housing is expensive, but don't forget Syndey hourly rates too are a couple of notch ahead of other cities. Not forgetting the fact that you are more likely to find that job faster in Syd than you would in Melbourne or any other Oz city

We don dey here since March and I'm yet to see the 'roughness' people talk about. Suburbs (where we can afford to live for now) are relatively quiet. No loudspeakers from barbing salons, or religious centres, cars hardly honk at one another. Most people obey traffic rules like I have never seen before. Your are likely never going to see your speedometer reach 90km/hr if you hardly travel or use motorways.

Sometimes I wonder if Sydney is what Aussies call rough, man! I'm not sure I want to live in a 'less rough' Australia, because this one sef dey too boring abeg.

I'm not campaigning for Sydney ooo. I just don't want people to make less suitable decisions based on a comparing two cities that aren't exactly the same.

Disclaimer
This is entirely my opinion

@bellong, Thank God you are back and strong, you will always overcome. Please, I intend sending my application to Tasmania for nomination for both 489 and 190 but, I don't know how some of the requirements look like. I mean letter of commitment to Tasmania and evidence to show that ones occupation is available in Tasmania's job market.

Boss!!! person nor go fit play with you in peace again?

The Sydney-Lagos comparison inferred from Oga Bellong's submission is sure not one to one. Abi how would one equate a city that maintains top 10-20 positions in world's most liveable city rankings to the one that's is always only second to Harare(Zimbawe) from the bottom of the same list?

People say the same of London, would that then mean London is exactly like Lagos? Of course not except only in the imagination of probably Ambode, Fashola or Tinubu.

That said.....bros you for just up the bonus small na, only airport pick up will not attract too many people here o, why not add like 2weeks free hotel accommodation in Sydney join? With that you're sure the next Mayor.

Meanwhile, I learnt that Sydney is so beautiful that the temptation of viewing the scenery might force person to trek to work for like 2 hours. Jamson, mctowel01, Bnimz, ifexsco, and others, is this so?
ZoeW, congrats, that's the forerunner, the remaining go be...

Lol....Mamajaz who tell you like that say Sydney is so beautiful? Ok....this is my take.....I was a bit disappointed the day I landed, guess my expectations were so high. Having said that, the place wey fine fine, the place wey wowo wowo! The place that is just there also full. The city is definitely beautiful with the high rise buildings and the very ancient architecture.

Regarding the priority processing, in what form does VETASSESS expect to receive one's certificate from the institution? Do they expect one to request another copy of the original certificate or a letter of affirmation in that regard would do?
