So I decided even before getting home to package my tithe and while in the market on a shopping spree I package my tithe and dropped it in the plate of an old beggar. (A mulsim beggar precisely)

Instantly, I saw 50 shades of shocks on her face as she looked at me for a few seconds and I could read her facials more like "For this Buharia?" Lols. And before I disappeared into the crowd, I could see/read her lips mutter prayers pointing towards me. And deep down, I felt blessed and fulfilled.

But was I wrong to have given my 10percent to a beggar instead of to the alter?

Opinions please.

You have done the right thing at the wrong time.... Your tithe is your tithe, it is different from offering... If you have set a sum of money aside as tithe then you owe that to God and nothing should stop you from paying it. If you gave a beggar the tithe you already purpose in your heart to give then you are robbing God for not giving it. It's not bad to give to beggars but not your tithe.

You did well by assisting the beggar in need but you didn't pay your tithe. May God richly bless you abundantly but try and pay your tithe because it wasn't it. What you did was a seed and it will speak for you greatly. Don't be deceived by the tactics of the devil operating in form of light. As many have being loose to deceive the elect on various social forum.

You are so on point, I honestly agree with you

You think so... But your thought is misperceived!

King James Version, Message Bible, Living Bible... All speaks about same thing
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be meat in mine house (KJV)

Bring your full tithe to the Temple treasury so there will be ample provisions in my Temple (MSG)

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there will be food enough in my Temple (NLT)

Just like Philip would ask the Ethiopian Eunuch...Now you read this...Do you understand what you are reading?

OP you have really done so well. The fact that you blessed a less privileged with your tithe which i believe was in thousands, is good enough for God to shower more blessings on you. God knows how faithful you are about paying tithes and also saw how you blessed a less privileged. Double blessings awaits you for thay gesture.

And who says the gospel cannot be propagated without money? Maybe the gospels that Nigerian pa$$tors peddle but I bet you not the true gospel.

And you are worshipping the wrong God. The true God provides all our needs according to the riches of His glory. He is our father. If the birds of the air need not worry about food and those flowers how the are beautifully sheltered, how can we who are His children worry about our common needs.

Does your earthly father charge you some percentage before providing for you? Don't be a fool! God does not love less and cannot be compared to your biological father in loving His children. God loves and provide for us unconditionally. Only an idiot thinks he can buy a blessing.

According to the verse, you are to take your tithe to the place God chooses to put His name which is His house and not to give it to the poor. Seems you don't understand the verses yourself

PROPAGATING GOD'S WORD NEEDS MONEY

How much exactly did the first century Christians spend to ensure the gospel went as far as it did?

Read the entire book of the acts of the apostles, you will see nothing like raising money to spread the gospel.

Youngman, you didn't pay your tithe. What you did was just alms to the poor and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. But, don't confuse your act as tithing.

YOU TITHE IS NOT TO YOUR PASTOR... I drop my Tithe either in the basket for it or I pay to the Church Account....

but it is the pastor that takes it from the basket at the end of the day, I believe doing good is unto the Lord and giving your ten percent to the hungry, poor, wretched is doing good unto God, The tithe does not vanish into heaven

don't forget, a building is not the church.. we are the church

Wrong.

It is written clearly, Bring your tithe into my store house, so that it may be food in my house. No begger is Gods storehouse.
Obey instruction if you want to pay your tithe.

Giving is good but a paracetamol cannot do the work of an aspirin. You will get the reward for giving and not tithing.

Give, and it will give given unto you. That will be your reward
And will cast out the devourer and the canker-worm will not eat your crops, You missed that bro.

You will probably be given for giving but the canker-worms will eat it.

Get understanding my brother. Malachi 3:10 tells you to give your tithes but det 14:22-29 tells you how to give your. Tithes. That you, the levite, the orphan, the widow and beggar shall partake in eating that tithe. This is what your pastor will not Tell you

God clearly states that we bring all the tithes and offerings into His store house!
but then let me also ask you this, must you give the beggar God's 10%?
why not from your own 90% bro?

It might be nonsense but just ponder on it it sir...

you are very wrong , because the reason God asked for the tithe is that "so that food may be in God's HOUSE"

So the purpose which God had asked for the tithe has not been fulfilled by giving a beggar.

Thanks
Is it not the same beggars that will come to God house to eat the food?
What difference does it make?

Deuteronomy 14:22. "You shall truly tithe all the increase of your grain that the field produces year by year.
23. And you shall eat before the LORD your God, in the place where He chooses to make His name abide, the tithe of your grain and your new wine and your oil, of the firstborn of your herds and your flocks, that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always.
24. But if the journey is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry the tithe, or if the place where the LORD your God chooses to put His name is too far from you, when the LORD your God has blessed you,
25. then you shall exchange it for money, take the money in your hand, and go to the place which the LORD your God chooses.
26. And you shall spend that money for whatever your heart desires: for oxen or sheep, for wine or similar drink, for whatever your heart desires; you shall eat there before the LORD your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your household.
27. You shall not forsake the Levite who is within your gates, for he has no part nor inheritance with you.
28. "At the end of every third year you shall bring out the tithe of your produce of that year and store it up within your gates.
29. And the Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow who are within your gates, may come and eat and be satisfied, that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.

Because that was their cycle of commerce. Most churches ask on a monthly basis because today the month is our generally acceptable cycle of commerce. I close my accounts in December so my cycle of tithes is yearly. There is no specific time frame. There is a specific value and direction. That is the subject under debate.

22 Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year. 23 Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and olive oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the Lord your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the Lord your God always. 24 But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the Lord your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the Lord will choose to put his Name is so far away), 25 then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the Lord your God will choose. 26 Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice. 27 And do not neglect the Levites living in your towns, for they have no allotment or inheritance of their own....
