Yup. As I was watching the hearing yesterday, all I kept saying to myself was 'let's hope that Eni's experience is gonna make the likes of Tammy Abraham etc to understand what's really going on .... '

I have lived in the US for over 20 year but people still perceive me as a Nigerian, even though they know very well that I am a US citizen!
And I had said a few times here in the forum, when I was playing for my college team, I realized that as a black guy (especially an African immigrant), you have to be twice as good as the other guys in order to start ahead of them. Actually, as a black dude you have to be twice as good but if you're an African, the odds increases .... as an African, you have to be three times as good in order to play!

Would you consider Oliseh's statement to Ekong a racist remark, when he said Oyibo are soft?

How about the plethora of tribaliatic hate-filled
remarks we make against ourselves in this country? I don't think racism is necessarily white thing. It just happens to be that they are somewhat in control that's why theirs is a bigger issue.

TheGoodJoe talking about Rohr inviting a pool of players for camping before the world cup.. Who to invite is still a problem o.. I've tried to put together an encompassing pool. I know somebody will still complain his player is missing.. That kind arrangement go cause confusion for camp hahaha

From Pot1 I would take Ike Uche.

Reason- We are playing a system that suits a dynamic forward. A forward that can play very well as a link up player, can also put away chances and also create goals on his own. I am looking squarely at Martins and Ike Uche. I go with Ike Uche because he deserves this finally. The 2010 world cup after doing so well he got injured, 2014 world cup? Sentiments kept him out, he deserves to atleast represent his country once. Martins is hard to drop but I'd make do with that.

PS: I am not sure Osaze should be here, he isn't a true number 9 which makes it more outstanding that he has scored 13goals. There is this other nigerian who is their main 9 in his club, I don't know his name though.

Category 2: I would bring Iheanacho into this category. He is easily more experienced than Kayode so Kayode goes to the other category. Musa is not a striker either. I'd EASILY pick Iheanacho from this bunch. Him not going to the World Cup would be a crime against humanity

Category III: lets leave this open till the final matchday

Ike Uche is good but based on current performance Ighalo and Martins are contenders.

For category 2, I am thinking of players in their mid 20s - 27 years of old. At the same time has experienced.

I don't think Iheanacho falls into this category.
The reason I gave these criteria for this category is because most Nigeria players of this age are sometimes in their prime.

In regards to, Iheanacho is more experienced than Kayode, can you please explain with facts?

Ahmed Musa has played majorly as CF than LW. He started from the NPFL.

On category 3, I will go for Tammy Abraham if he decides to play for Nigeria. grin

so, in your mind Simeon Nwankwo and Olanrewaju are in Category 2, while Cyriel and Kelechi are in Category 3?

And why are you throwing in some funny names like Solanke?

You sha...very predictable. Saw this list and instantly knew it had to be you. Surprise us one day

Players that are or will be in their mid 20s to 27 during the world cup are the ones I placed in category 2 hence the reason I placed Iheanacho and Dessers in category 3. I should have explained better.

Is it only Solanke ya eyes see?

Solanke is still far far far far far far far far far far far far far far far far far far far ahead of Dessers and others on that list. grin

He didn't go from Chelsea to Liverpool by fluke. grin

Any player you pick from those categories won't stop SE from the mandatory first round loss to Argentina.

A win and a draw in subsequent group matches and a gritty, nail bitting slim victory over Poland in the second round. Then comes France in the 1/8 finals with Mbappe doing a hattrick.
sad

they have not only been very good at home, they have also been very good away. There second game I watched was away to Barcelona B(I was watching the game because of some Barca academy players tbh), I thought it was a sure win for Barca and Barca scored first, somehow they turned it and won the game in the last 5minutes. Their last match too against Alcocorn was away from home and they put in a solid performance, it's not like they were lucky. For 90mins they held their own and nicked it again at the death, I think they may be the best team in the division which is why I said they would hold Gent. With Swansea's recent poor form, buying that guy should be one of their easiest decisions right now

Wow! That's a good one from you. Thanks

Now, I can see there is light at the end of the tunnel for him. Initially, I thought his career has ended signing up for Lugo but it seems they are good afterall based on the results on ground.

I don't think it's possible for him to get work permit because he has not played in top European League for two seasons now. This should be his 3rd season in the second tier of LA Liga. Thanks for the update on Ramon-Azeez and his club.

They assume. You can only say they know if they are sure. Oftentimes their assumption could be wrong. So yes let's not reaffirm their beliefs.

komekn:

Let me tell you something.

The operative word is PROOF, I know a lot of heads of recruitment and a very small number of football club managers. But one thing is clear, they know that we cut age, they know that we are telling lies and most times they do not believe our ages.

But you know what, THEY DON'T CARE as long as thier is no substantive evidential proof and their is money to be made. Everybody gets thier cut everybody is happy.

That's essentially the bottom line.

Nwakaeme and Dessers as sub, if he gets the chance.

I see this as final test for the bench warmers and an opportunity to cap-tie

I spent about 15 years in the national team but those who do not know won’t believe it. I was a product of eight years before I broke into the national team. I started with the Green Eagles in November 1981.

We started camp with 182 players and it was Rabar Madjer that denied us a place at the World Cup. That was the Chukwu, Odegbami era and the team was disbanded.

When it was going to be rebuilt, over 140 players were invited and that was when I met the likes of Ben Iroha, Monday Eguavoen, Azuka Abor, Bright Omokaro, Peter Rufai, Steven Keshi and the late Benjamin Okorogwu who was my room mate at the NIS camp.

When the team was cut to 60, I made the list and when it was cut to 30 I also made it and we began camping for the Libya’82 Nations Cup but I was dropped at the end of the day.

An example how it was done back in the days. All these, this one scored in China, this one has a regular shirt in Hong Kong, this one the coach dropped on bench means he should not go to World Cup is all guess work.

Unless someone can come up with another system that can give a precise method of screening out the best players for the country and give all the potential quality players a fair chance, we will keep going to tournaments and games without the best players.

From the excerpt above, you can see that even the likes of players training together in camp gives the young ones exposure to training with quality players, which give them a chance to improve.

Papi Rohr though... Wants to keep undefeated record. If this guy gives Rohr something other strikers dont give, he'l be unavoidable. Dessers&Vicmo may make good partners(based only on style of play around the box)

Very nice question.

That is where the ambition of the manager comes in to play. If the manager wants the best, he suppose to have his laid out strategies and tactics to prosecute the World Cup. Clearly defined requirements for each role.

The selection will be based on merit. Only the best in each role gets the nod. Not League position, where you were born, regular playing time, where you are from or who you know. All these leads to a bias and sentimental selection.

If the very best are selected, anyone having bad blood is against the success of the team and country.

Thank you! I went to college in the East Coast. Bros, that man almost made me doubt myself .... because at that time I was just a newbie and wasn't well schooled in the "American school of racism" yet. He would make it sound like he's trying to push me to maximize my potential, but as time goes on I began to realize that there was a different agenda.

I mean, I could score 2 goals but if we lose he would ask why I didn't score 3! In addition, anytime we lose it's because I didn't have a great game but when we win he would give the credit to almost everyone else before he remembers me.

That's why I tend to sympathize with our players when these TV pundits pick on them for criticisms. Many of those folks have their own agendas and we ought to take everything they say with a big dose of salt.
