ElsonMorali: If Awolowo's blockage of food entering Biafra was him being helpful to Biafrans why dont the world powers do the same when they engage in wars eg Iraqi and Afghanistan war? Starvation is a crime against humanity and there is no excuse for it. You can as well abort an unborn child and claim you were doing him good as you prevented him/her from experiencing the pains of being a human being. 2 Likes |

Maduawuchukwu: I tend to agree with you. Awo got carried away. The worst part is preventing humanitarian organizations who were ready to risk their lives to go in to feed the children, preventing them from going in. |

WetinConsignMe: There should be a worldwide.law making this illegal, making it a war crime punishable by life imprisonment. There should be a guaranteed avenue to make sure they leave children out if their wars |

9jaDoc:on another note, let it not be like this Nnamdi Kanu own that they are telling us he has ran to London, who actually saw Brigadier Ogundipe in London? |
Re: 10 Awolowo Controversies: Are They Justifiable? by 9jaDoc(f): 5:42pm On Oct 29, 2017 |
Malawian: Ogundipe was a soldier, the highest ranking at that, with an army at his command. All he had to do was assert that command as Ironsi did. Nnamdi is not a soldier and has no command over anybody. See, comparing apples and cars. |

Copied Malawian: 9jaDoc: It has been stated over and over again that Ojukwu was not the ambitious person people try to paint him to be and as a matter of fact he fought a war that the yorubas would have fought but for Brig Gen Ogundipe refusing to take over command as the most senior surviving army officer when Gen Ironsi was killed and that was normal military protocol. Ojukwu never waged a war against Nigeria, he simply insisted that Brig Gen Ogundipe should take over as the president which was right thinking. That single mistake by Brig Gen Ogundipe led to the many problems we have had in Nigeria where the North sees itself as the most qualified region to lead Nigeria since they got away with that major blunder. People tend to forget that both the Eastern Region and the the Federal Government more or less ran parallel government for about one full year including the famous Aburi accord that Gowon signed but Britain encouraged and advised him not to implement. Those who fail to learn from history are bound to repeat the same mistake again. Talking about who a true hero is then talk about Fajuyi who chose death even when he had a chance to remain alive when Ironsi was about being killed. He stood by his guest and commander in chief even in the face of death even though he was a Yoruba man. He remains one of the bravest Nigerians and will continue to earn the respect of all well meaning Nigerians.

Malawian: Critics have against him his refusal to succeed General Ironsi who was murdered during the 1966 coup, blaming the resulting massacres as the consequence of his refusal... After the coup, he left Nigeria for the United Kingdom where he was Nigeria’s representative at the 1966 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and thereafter, Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom until August 1970. He died in London on November 20, 1971. Copied |

Ofemannnu: Awo had Banjo's army and other Yoruba soldiers. Bros, can't you Yorubas see there were two Awo's. The Awo before the war was the heroic Awo. Awo was a socialist but became corrupted by oil money. Read that his leaders of thought speech of May 1967 That was the old Awo, the heroic Awo. |
