I was thinking one can easily attach some occupation vacancies that require technical abilities not classifies as professional engineers such as construction supervisor/civil work supervisor /site supervisor for Civil engineering technologist for Tasmania 489 nomination. But going through Tasmania page tonight a stumbled upon these paragraphs where it seems they actually expect you to show employment with exact same title as nominated occupation. In occupations with broad areas of specialisation I feel this won't work. Any ideas? Cc bornlegend

spyroxy1:Thanks alot bro. Unfortunately I didn't take mock tests, cause after the first attempt I thought I had it. Wish I did though. I had to learn from my first and second attempt. You're almost there with this score. Please don't relent. 1 Like |

Misoke:It is Chinese, but some part of it is in English too. So you can still navigate. With time you'll get used to it. Am not sure of any other, but it's the one site I've come across with loads of materials in one place. You can also translate the page using Google. 1 Like |

jayooh: Hey bro! It is not easy oooo! To get job vacancies is not easy at all especially for engineering technologist and 5 for that matter. |
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by bornlegend: 8:15am On Nov 08, 2017 |
jayooh: Yes bro! That is exactly the issue. It has to be same title. It is indeed very stiff. I honestly had to drop this route as apart from the title, one need to match every single JD on the duties. |

Misoke:@Misoke, there are several materials online. The following tips for the reading section might also be of help: Multiple choice single answer - understand the question, then look for d part in d passage that talks about the question. Once you find it, disregard every other part of d passage, except you really need to make reference to them for understanding sake (in most cases, you really don't need to). Then you can re-read the question and focus on that part to choose the right answer. Multiple choice multiple answer - same strategy as above, but as you already know, there's negative marking, so if you are not 100% certain of an answer don't bother choosing it, so you can save the one you're sure of. It can really be disturbing at times, especially if you're taking 5mins and you're still on one question. A part of you wants to move on to the next question, and another tells you to see it through after spending that much time. Even if it's one you're 100%sure of, stick to your 1point and move on. There's really no time to waste. Re-order paragraph - there’s a video on YouTube by e2language, it's a really good resource for this section. Once you grab the logic, go to wenbo.tv for practice materials. You'll get several questions to try so you can perfect the act. There are also more practise materials on YouTube. This part was my weak point in the reading section; but I knew I needed to scale it to do well, especially after my second attempt, so i did a lot of practise till I was sure I could nail it. Fill in the blanks (dragging and drop-down) - for this section, you need to develop your collocation and grammar skills. If you've been reading wide for a long time: novels, newspapers, magazines etc across various fields, you would’ve become familiar with a lot of word combinations and inflections and you would most likely find it easier. If you're not sure how to tackle this section, practise lots of questions online. Start with the option that doesn't sound right and eliminate them till you're left with a few; you can then look at grammar to select the final choice. The trick is as you practise more and more questions you'll get a feel of what is required of you in the exam. And remember, this two categories give you the most marks in the reading section, so please save enough time for them, if they don't come first. 3 Likes |

bornlegend:I feel one can try using those titles other than civil/structural engineer where requirements can be met. I'm not sure the job title engineering technologist exists anywhere in the Australian job market. Searched the whole of Australia n found just 3 vacancies with the actual title "engineering technologist-2 in NSW; 1 in VIC." It's a conundrum . All those civil works supervisor titles and Co. do not have an occupation code on the migration list now. I was thinking it could fly 1 Like |

skibby: It all depends on how fast you want it to be. It's very possible as so many engineers go through that route. It's perhaps the cheapest and easiest way to get into the country. Just get the necessary documents and submit an EOI ASAP. If you can submit an EOI, get invited and submit an application before the 18 months visa expires, you'll automatically be granted a bridging visa pending the outcome of your application.
