Actually there is a possibility of the jets flying in from NAF 222 Wings base at Ilorin. They are responsible for the south western flank of our border. Alpha jets used to be stationed there(don't know about now sha).
Not all the F-7 are stationed at TAC so its just might truly be an F7 . How wish you could tell the sound then I would tell you weather it was an alpha or F-7.

Three UN peacekeepers, one Malian soldier killed in Mali attack

The mission (MINUSMA) said the soldiers came under fire during a joint operation in the Menaka region near Mali’s border with Niger where raids by jihadist groups, some with links to al Qaeda and Islamic State, have spiked over the last year.

“I condemn in the strongest terms this attack that has once again befallen the MINUSMA force as well as the (Malian army),” U.N. mission head Mahamat Saleh Annadif said in a statement.

The mission did not specify the nationalities of the soldiers.

Jihadist groups have exploited the porous borders between Mali and neighbouring Niger and Burkina Faso to expand their range of operations, alarming Western powers who fear the growing influence of Islamist radicalism in the region.

A 2013 French-led military intervention drove back militants who had seized control of Mali’s desert north a year earlier, but they have regrouped and now launch regular attacks against Malian soldiers, U.N. peacekeepers and civilians.

One of the most daring bank heists I've heard of is one that happened in my home town in 2003. It's was 16 cars and they offloaded almost $2 million from a bank vault overnight. And guess what? It happened less than 100 metres from the city police station.
Hahaha, cops don't expect crimes to happen close to their station

My friend, JF17 versions NAF will own would have MIG 29 type engines, refuelling capability and a radar at par/ better than SU 35. Getting to Sudan is refuelling over Maiduguri and meeting the aircraft's on the way back.

There are so many factors to capability that you should not be shallow or mechanistic in thinking. Gadhaffi's Libya and Saddam's Iraq were examples of countries with loads of hardware and low capability. Iran, UAE, Nigeria and Jordan are examples of countries starting to emphasize acquisition of holistic capabilities instead of mindless buying of weapons that makes you prey to scams from developed countries.

I see your point. No wonder Iran refused to buy Russian t-90 tanks, they prefer made in Iran tanks that are same level as modernized t-72. Iran also refused to buy downgraded su-30 from Russia, they say it's either the best su-30SM version or su-35, or else no deal. Iran says they are tired of inferior weapons that super powers dump on 3rd world nations, and Iran also wants full local maintenance capability for su-30 or else they will not buy jets that will make them always depend on foreign technical support in time of war and embargo.

With all these points you people are raising here, maybe Sudan will end up with downgraded su-35 that will not be able to beat NAF jf-17 block iiii that has AESA radar, but sha, there is no plan for NAF to buy air refueling, the NAF boys said it costs extra $50 million for air refuelling planes and no need to refuel in air against Boko Haram.

To be fair, a significant portion seem to have been damaged in battle - look at the pics, most of them have destroyed axles (IED/Mine strikes) and other serious body damage.

This is generally, however, a major issue when smaller militaries deploy far from home. When NATO deploys, they bring along huge mechanic depos and motor-pools equipped with all the bells and whistles, run by a small army of technicians - most smaller militaries dont have the ability to deploy that kind of capacity.

Even the SANDF, for example, a while back that we were facing huge problems in the DRC. Having to transport heavy engineering equipment (diggers, graders etc) all the way back to RSA just to get serviced.

Further, considering the low levels of human capital on the continent - the risk v reward of deploying a skilled (and rare) technician to a warzone (where you may lose him) means that allot of commanders would rather leave them back in the depo at home.

But, hey, maybe they could take a leaf out of our book and bring in some Cubans to get things back on track wink
