Actually there is a possibility of the jets flying in from NAF 222 Wings base at Ilorin. They are responsible for the south western flank of our border. Alpha jets used to be stationed there(don't know about now sha).
Not all the F-7 are stationed at TAC so its just might truly be an F7 . How wish you could tell the sound then I would tell you weather it was an alpha or F-7.

I once saw an Alpha jet flying so loud and extremely low in Ilorin. The whole area was vibrating cos it wasn't even moving fast.

It was us - but we had the whole of Namibia to base our logistics in, and it was a (relatively) short drive from RSA. You could drive up a new Ratel, on paved roads, in a day. Equally you could have a damaged vehicle back in the Depo's in RSA in about a day.

No one operating in Somalia has that luxury. The only long term solution would be the building of a large mechanical depo - with mechanics who can work on the dozens of different types of MRAP in Somalia.

This all goes down to the problem with accepting hodge-podge donations - equipment uniformity greatly reduces the need for having huge rear-echelon support.
