Actually there is a possibility of the jets flying in from NAF 222 Wings base at Ilorin. They are responsible for the south western flank of our border. Alpha jets used to be stationed there(don't know about now sha).
Not all the F-7 are stationed at TAC so its just might truly be an F7 . How wish you could tell the sound then I would tell you weather it was an alpha or F-7.
I once saw an Alpha jet flying so loud and extremely low in Ilorin. The whole area was vibrating cos it wasn't even moving fast.

My friend, JF17 versions NAF will own would have MIG 29 type engines, refuelling capability and a radar at par/ better than SU 35. Getting to Sudan is refuelling over Maiduguri and meeting the aircraft's on the way back.

There are so many factors to capability that you should not be shallow or mechanistic in thinking. Gadhaffi's Libya and Saddam's Iraq were examples of countries with loads of hardware and low capability. Iran, UAE, Nigeria and Jordan are examples of countries starting to emphasize acquisition of holistic capabilities instead of mindless buying of weapons that makes you prey to scams from developed countries.

Apt.

same ! the level droped greatly these days , specialy in this comparison and virtual war Sudan VS nigeria , some poeple derail the thread displaying their ignorance undecided

yeah

actually i was grinning like hell when i read the comments

especially the downgraded aircraft's part - it reminded me of ' when u dig a pit for others to fall, u will definitely end up in it ' grin

and also the su35 radar part

even simplistically speaking which aircraft's nose cone is bigger ( internal volume )

and the SWaP constraints of both the radar systems on each of the aircraft's in question (inclusive of no of T/R modules, cooling system and backend processors)

and then retrospectively the implication on range and performance parameters of both the radar systems

how difficult is it to counter such claims on simple technicalities grin

I see your point. No wonder Iran refused to buy Russian t-90 tanks, they prefer made in Iran tanks that are same level as modernized t-72. Iran also refused to buy downgraded su-30 from Russia, they say it's either the best su-30SM version or su-35, or else no deal. Iran says they are tired of inferior weapons that super powers dump on 3rd world nations, and Iran also wants full local maintenance capability for su-30 or else they will not buy jets that will make them always depend on foreign technical support in time of war and embargo.

With all these points you people are raising here, maybe Sudan will end up with downgraded su-35 that will not be able to beat NAF jf-17 block iiii that has AESA radar, but sha, there is no plan for NAF to buy air refueling, the NAF boys said it costs extra $50 million for air refuelling planes and no need to refuel in air against Boko Haram.

Point.

It is not accurate to judge good radar by range alone and to shallowly extend the idea that aircraft nose cone size is directly proportional to range of detection. Half of the work is in signal processing and optimization of resources between scanning, tracking and aiming. And yes Sudan is not getting top of the line stuff.

Let me quickly remind everyone that we heard claims of Nigeria taking delivery of 2 Su-30 and 10 expected in 2018. We all know the news was not true. Why are we so sure Sudan have taken delivery of SU-35 without a single pic?

It was us - but we had the whole of Namibia to base our logistics in, and it was a (relatively) short drive from RSA. You could drive up a new Ratel, on paved roads, in a day. Equally you could have a damaged vehicle back in the Depo's in RSA in about a day.

No one operating in Somalia has that luxury. The only long term solution would be the building of a large mechanical depo - with mechanics who can work on the dozens of different types of MRAP in Somalia.

This all goes down to the problem with accepting hodge-podge donations - equipment uniformity greatly reduces the need for having huge rear-echelon support.

This.

Its what makes platforms like the F-35 so potent. Not the radar or the VTOL or the stealth or the new weapons systems.

Its the sensor fusion.

so to you mogandishu is a warzone ,the port of mogandishu isn't functioning,to fix an axle you need to be rocket scientist (even though those MRAP's are being cannibalised for parts to repair other MRAP's)

Speaking of which, I was reading up on kmfri's mv.mtafiti expeditions and came upon this stateemnt
Kenya Marine Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) assistant director, oceanography and hydrography Dr Charles Magori said the vessel has enormous scientific and economic potential to push Kenya into the realm of a regional power in marine management, research and utilisation. “Kenya also applied for an extra 150 nautical miles EEZ extension for exploitation of bottom ocean bed resources. This has been accepted, giving the country an additional 103,000kms. The ship, which can carry a crew of 47, will increase the capacity to police this area,” Dr Magori said.

So you mean a country can apply to extend her EEZ nauticle miles ( where it will have exclusive rights to,police, fish, mine minerals ) to the UN and be granted that territory as long as no other country lays claim to the same?

Comprehension is skill. Namibia has the paved roads going north to south.

And fixing a axel is one thing, building a axel is some thing different. Take that ratel. It sure is flooded. Get a recovery vic, put it in a trailer bring to based and send the engine home. The engine is over haulled and electrical wiring replaced and bam it is fixed. Hell you can do a engine swap in the field at night on a ratel and the battlion work shop can do the rest.

1. Angola =/= Namibia
2. Yes, if you argue that Angola = Namibia, then Mogadishu = warzone
3. Yes - lathes, ALM/CNCM's are high end products that need to be operated by high-skill technicians.

Why start an argument for the sake of an argument?

The Tiffies were the unsung hero's of those Ops. You'd often hear OC's talk of them like they were in love.
I've seen mechanics work on engines while they were being towed through the bush. Head down the engine compartment with feet sticking out.
You can swap a Casspir axle and suspension in 30 mins.

Also consider that most of our drivers were farm boys that grew up working on vehicles from a very young age. They were practically mechanics in their own right.

Were they being operated permanently inside Angola - or was the base of operations outside of Angola?

Dude. I dont know what your malfunction is - but you need to stop being so argumentative.
