Were they being operated permanently inside Angola - or was the base of operations outside of Angola?

Dude. I dont know what your malfunction is - but you need to stop being so argumentative.

Battle of Quito Carnival - 8 months

AMISOM in Somalia - 7 years.

Yeah, totally a valid comparison.

I just dont understand - seriously - why are you arguing for the sake of arguing?

The battle was fought in what we called operations, it wasn't 7 months of non-stop fighting. At the end of each operation, the vehicles would go back to Namibia so there was never a base inside Angola. The only thing that was almost permanent in Angola was the 32Bn foot patrol and the Recces.

so they never did any minor repairs and maintenance while in the combat zone, things that could easily be fixed!bring along components and parts !?or did even a flat tire require towing back to Namibia.did you cannibalise parts from other vehicles due to prolonged delay in getting parts !

Confirmed by The President himself — Sudan to buy everything su-30, su-35, ocean minesweeper ships, navy ships with missiles, s-300 long range anti-aircraft SAM.

"From Moscow city, November 25, 2017 (Xinhua China Reporting)—

Sudan is seeking to buy Russia's advanced Su-30 and Su-35 fighters, RIA Novosti news agency reported yesterday Saturday, citing Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir.

The president said Sudanese and Russian officials discussed the possibility of warplane sales earlier this week in Russia's Black Sea resort of Sochi, where he met his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Thursday.

"We do not intend to carry out aggression abroad, but we want to protect our country," he told Russian International Information R.I.A, adding that Sudan is also interested in Russia's S-300 air defense system, missile boats and minesweepers". —

Xinhua news China, 2:50 P.M. November 27, 2017

Better we forget assumption of downgraded versions, Sudan's new package is formidable land, sea, air heavy sophisticated weapons. I think they will take position of best armed military in Sub-Saharan Africa with this heavy transformation of Sudan's armed forces 2018.

It's just like the news about Nigeria showing interest in the same Su-30 and Mig 29/35.

They need to wait for Saudi Arabia to pay them after Yemen operation.

He preceeded in editing the Wikipedia page where claims Sudan operates the Su-35, that's how I snatched his IP address and traced him to Singapore.

SAfrica's Zuma in Talks to Sell Most of Denel to Qatar, STimes

South Africa is in talks with Qatar to sell a majority stake in its arms manufacturer Denel SOC Ltd. to the Gulf country, the Sunday Times reported, citing a source it didn’t identify.

President Jacob Zuma is also seeking to sell portions of other struggling state-owned enterprises, including power utility Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd. and South African Airways SOC Ltd., the newspaper said. The Department of Public Enterprises, which would need to approve the transaction, did not immediately respond to Bloomberg’s requests for comment.

Denel was among state entities bailed out this year to prevent a call on its government-guaranteed debt. This list includes South African Airways, the South African Post Office and the South African Broadcasting Corp. which all may require further intervention, the National Treasury said in its mid-term budget report.

Qatar’s Defense Minister Khalid Bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah is believed to have discussed the proposed acquisition with Zuma during a state visit earlier this month, the newspaper said.

A spokesman for the president denied the report. “There was no discussion of the issues” during the minister’s “courtesy call,” Bongani Ngqulunga, a spokesman for the president said in a text message.

Mayihlome Tshwete, a spokesman for National Treasury, says it isn’t aware of any such discussions. He said the treasury has spoken to the Department of Public Enterprises about the matter and the department denies the talks. link https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-11-26/safrica-s-zuma-in-talks-to-sell-most-of-denel-to-qatar-stimes

Guarantee not going to happen. The story itself sounds fake. MBDA of Europe once wanted to purchase a majority stake in Denel Dynamics, SA government said no....citing proprietary South African technology.

Now we'll sell to Qatar? Almost laughable.

It is not accurate to judge good radar by range alone and to shallowly extend the idea that aircraft nose cone size is directly proportional to range of detection. Half of the work is in signal processing and optimization of resources between scanning, tracking and aiming.

well yesterday i was busy so i passed grin

but let me put my views here today

generalized airborne radar systems design considerations includes

allowable array size- what does it imply grin
weight- what does it imply grin
cooling
no of modules required- what does it imply grin
size and weight per module- what does it imply grin
power consumption requirements
peak power for each module
efficiency requirements
noise figure
phase and amplitude control requirements
module interface requirements
etc

this implies that if u want a powerful radar ie u will need higher no of T/R modules ie u will need a larger nose cone ie larger internal volume

and yes larger nose cone size allows for corresponding higher no of T/R modules which again allows for larger transmit power and hence larger range. packaging a higher no of T/R modules allows u to have a larger power aperture ie longer range radar.

signal processing and optimization of resources is dictated by the processing capabilities which again is dictated by the SWaP constraints. SWaP means size weight and power. generalized this mean a modern 2 engined aircraft will have a clear advantage over a similar modern 1 engined aircraft belonging to the same generation.

and last i checked couple of years back Russian engineers were busy working in NRIET helping Chinese on their radars probably as part of the Chinese SU35 deal. grin grin grin

so ur claim that one radar is better than another radar is pure speculation
given that one of the radar is still in testing and is yet to be integrated to a fighter aircraft, which means basic operational parameters r still not available for comparison.

also u said that it is not accurate to judge good radar by range alone

sure, but not when i have this 'first look first shoot by a big margin'

and how did u judge a radar without even the specs being available ? grin

but no wahala ur free to believe what u want grin

i was just passing time grin
