The battle was fought in what we called operations, it wasn't 7 months of non-stop fighting. At the end of each operation, the vehicles would go back to Namibia so there was never a base inside Angola. The only thing that was almost permanent in Angola was the 32Bn foot patrol and the Recces.

so they never did any minor repairs and maintenance while in the combat zone,things that could easily be fixed!bring along components and parts !?or did even a flat tire require towing back to Namibia.did you cannibalise parts from other vehicles due to prolonged delay in getting parts !

Denel was among state entities bailed out this year to prevent a call on its government-guaranteed debt. This list includes South African Airways, the South African Post Office and the South African Broadcasting Corp. which all may require further intervention, the National Treasury said in its mid-term budget report.


Qatar’s Defense Minister Khalid Bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah is believed to have discussed the proposed acquisition with Zuma during a state visit earlier this month, the newspaper said.

A spokesman for the president denied the report. “There was no discussion of the issues” during the minister’s “courtesy call,” Bongani Ngqulunga, a spokesman for the president said in a text message.

Mayihlome Tshwete, a spokesman for National Treasury, says it isn’t aware of any such discussions. Guarantee not going to happen. The story itself sounds fake. MBDA of Europe once wanted to purchase a majority stake in Denel Dynamics, SA government said no....citing proprietary South African technology.

It is not accurate to judge good radar by range alone and to shallowly extend the idea that aircraft nose cone size is directly proportional to range of detection. Half of the work is in signal processing and optimization of resources between scanning, tracking and aiming.

generalized airborne radar systems design considerations includes

allowable array size- what does it imply
weight- what does it imply
cooling
no of modules required- what does it imply
size and weight per module- what does it imply
power consumption requirements
peak power for each module
efficiency requirements
noise figure
phase and amplitude control requirements
module interface requirements
etc

this implies that if u want a powerful radar ie u will need higher no of T/R modules ie u will need a larger nose cone ie larger internal volume

and yes larger nose cone size allows for corresponding higher no of T/R modules which again allows for larger transmit power and hence larger range. packaging a higher no of T/R modules allows u to have a larger power aperture ie longer range radar.

signal processing and optimization of resources is dictated by the processing capabilities which again is dictated by the SWaP constraints. SWaP means size weight and power. generalized this mean a modern 2 engined aircraft will have a clear advantage over a similar modern 1 engined aircraft belonging to the same generation.

and last i checked couple of years back Russian engineers were busy working in NRIET helping Chinese on their radars probably as part of the Chinese SU35 deal.

so ur claim that one radar is better than another radar is pure speculation
given that one of the radar is still in testing and is yet to be integrated to a fighter aircraft, which means basic operational parameters r still not available for comparison.

Recovered and moved to Namibia by recovery teams if the damged was great enough or scuttled in country if totaled. minor fixes are done in the field. EG the battalion could swap a ratel egien in Angola but not fix said engine
