Jbelieve: HI, I am no expert, but my advice is that if you are still with the company and in that position, then that means as each month passes by your experience is growing hence you can apply for an assessment. But this tricky Vetassess will most definitely taken one year meaning that your positive outcome letter will have you written as experience-0 months. then again what if they take more than a year means that you have no more months on offer e.g I have seen where people have 7 years experience and Vetassess returns the positive assessment back with 4 years 8 months experience. I hope you understand Secondly I advice you read the requirements on the vetasses website to be sure that the requirements are still the same. I guess before your role as assistant project manager you had other Project builder related roles( so more years of experience) you could nominate project builder to get a positive outcome. However it has no state sponsorship 190 only skilled visa 189. so if you have more years working as a builder you may have more points... and because with the above it is 0 points only 15 points for education... with project builder if you have some years of experience you may get 5 points and above so that may help. plus 15 points for education ( check a point calculator) But please make proper website checks as well to keep you updated as requirements are always changing. 1 Like |

rosepetraa: The point you made is not entirely true. The link says, " It will be replaced in March 2018" and "not abolished" now. So, Businesses can still sponsor someone for 457 visa at the moment. If he had been sponsored genuinely, he should go for it. 1 Like |

NNBB2012: You are right. What if I intend to apply for a subclass 457 visa on or after 1 July 2017? Subclass 457 visa applications lodged after 1 July 2017 must meet the updated criteria. The changes include: • Eligible occupations: the list of eligible skilled occupations has been revised. • English language requirements: the English Language Salary Exemption Threshold (ELSET) has been removed. English language test results must be provided for applications lodged on or after 1 July 2017 unless the person is an intra-corporate transferee (that is, an employee transferring between a foreign parent company to an Australian arm of the company) and they have a nominated base rate of pay of at least AUD $96,400. • Police clearances: the provision of police clearance certificates is mandatory. • Mandatory skills assessments: the skills assessment program has been expanded to include some additional nationalities for a small number of existing occupations. Further information on these requirements is available: • Occupation information and lists: www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work/Skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists. • 457 requirements: www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/457-. • Police clearance requirements: www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa/Char. Subclass 457 visa applications will continue to be able to be lodged until March 2018. From March 2018, prospective temporary skilled workers can apply for the TSS visa |

The President Bellong, senators, ministers and members of Parliament of this august forum, I salute you all. First of all let me acknowledge the good and rare work done by you all. May you be rewarded greatly by the LORD. I'm in my second year studying MSc in Petroleum Engineering at Curtin Uni in Perth. I want to apply for my PR asap and the table below shows my add up points in summary for both 189 and 190. Please, I will like to know which profession to go for so I can start preparing my CDR. Also, which route will get me called faster as per the current analytical trend for call ups. Age - 30 points Qualification - 15 points PTE - Targeting 20 points Thanks so much in advance for your responses.

mannimakerjnr: Currently, there is no sponsorship for Petroleum Engineering by states. Therefore, your best bet from the options you gave will be ET but if your undergraduate is in Chemical, Mechanical, you will have lower points to meet. Please, for the master in petrol engineering in Perth, is getting a job while studying easy especially in Perth and how is the pay and was the job related to your study? |

praiseisgood: SIR BELLONG, PRAISEISGOOD, OKDEE, TYOSHO PLEASE HELP WITH THIS QUESTION Thank you very much @praiseisgood. I have more than 3 years work experience and my university is classified as tier 2. The syllabus covered the required courses for Accountant (General) and Management Accountant which I am considering either of the 2. If my assessment comes out as Associate Degree, does that translate to a positive assessment and can I still enter the pool with associate degree? I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you |

Good day area74, to get a positive assessment outcome, you must have qualifications equivalent to Australian Bachelors. Since you are certain that the courses required are in sync with the school's syllabus, I think you can proceed with your assessment. Thank you. [quote author=area74 post=62977820] |
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by bellong: 10:12pm On Dec 04, 2017 |
@Mannimaker, Your only option is Engineering technologist. @Mcstan18, If your English test is very recent and appeal date has not passed, I think you should appeal your writing and speaking scores. External auditor is assessed by three accounting bodies and I believe they have some course contents they require you to have in your education before being granted positive assessment. I don't know if they do experience in lieu of qualification. What you can do is to go the website of these bodies to check their requirements. Alternatively, you can align your experience to that of a mathematician. 1 Like |

bellong: Wow, my undergraduate was petroleum engineering but i nominated chemical engineering. Fingers crossed, 16 working days has passed since i submitted my CDR with fast track and it's still queued for assessment. God help me!!!! |
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by bellong: 12:06am On Dec 05, 2017 |
charlie111: Well, petroleum engineering has a component of chemical engineering. It depends on the flexibility of the assessing Officer, if he believes your CDR shows competence in chemical engineering, then you can get positive assessment. 1 Like |

bornlegend: I'm still in school though, haven't started any job yet (only part-time jobs). What I've observed is that most companies require PR or Citizenship for job positions and even for internships. In perth, there is only company that gives PE intl students the chance to do internships i.e Woodside, but trust me you don't want me to give u details. Imagine citizens, PR holders and international students vying for a very limited number of slots. As an international student, you just can pray but I know one guy who got it but he's a citizen. He's paid over 4000AUD per month for internship and that is good money. Perth atm is very tight and finding even a part time job is hard. Better to get a PR first bro or @Bellong and the gurus could give u better advice or something. Hope it helps? My undergrad is Petroleum Engineering and I will like to go for either Production Engineer or Chemical Engineer with lower points to meet. What do you think? |

toslad: @TOSLAD, SIR BELLONG, PRAISEISGOOD, TYOSHO Thank you for your contribution. Courses required are in sync with the school syllabus but my school, LASU is classified as tier 2 and thus will be regarded as an Associate Degree. My question is, am I eligible to enter the pool as an accountant with an Associate Degree? Kindly help me to clarify. |
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by bornlegend: 8:53am On Dec 05, 2017 |
mannimakerjnr:Thanks man for the insight. Yes, chemical engineering is better. Just try to streamline your duties to that of the ANZcode for Chemical engineering and you will be fine. Even for the career episodes, just as Bellong stated, you can use those elements that relates to chemical engineering to write it. They are in a way connected in some areas. If done well, it will be successful definitely. |
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by toslad: 8:59am On Dec 05, 2017 |
Area74, my school is tier 2 too (Olabisi Onabanjo University) I don't think the assessing bodies for Accountant look at the tier thing if your courses are actually in sync with what is required. You never know till you try. As per associate qualification being able to get into the pool for Accountant, I truly doubt as the minimum is Bachelors. Even those of us with positive assessment outcomes have been waiting since April (in my case). [quote author=area74 Degree. |
