If her purpose of visit was family visit .. then Nothing much to worry about. Remember one crucial point, she did not breach the terms of her visa. The maximum entry period is 6 months (180 days) and she didn’t breach that.

Just mention on a cover letter or in the additional information section of the form that even though in her last application , it was stated she will be in the UK for 2 weeks but stays for xyz period which is still within her allowed entry period .

The overstay of It is usually not a big deal to over stay the stated period on the application. It’s May only become an issue or raise red flags if someone claim to be working or have a business/field employed and have taken short leave to travel for a specific short period and then end up staying for months. It raises questions on the credibility of the claimed job/business.

Apply for 2 years visa if you like.

In my own case ,during my mum’s last application we stated she was going to stay for 6 weeks. She stayed for 4months 3 weeks. On her recent app, I just mentioned on her form but emphasised she didn’t breach her terms. Her 2 year visa was issued within 2 working days. So please don’t panic .

Technically that is not true especially for first visit. The number of days or weeks you indicated is very important as it links to your ability to afford that trip.

If you indicated in your visa application that you will be staying two weeks and your budget takes care of that two weeks then staying longer than that is questionabl.

A lot of people here have been refused a visa because of this many times if you read back.


Regarding this particular case..it may not be a big deal if his mum is retired but if the mum works in Nigeria or running her own business then it's a different case.

State exactly the number of weeks you want your mum to stay and avoid repeating the previous mistake of declaring less then keeping her longer that stated.

(1) what to say in my cover letter as reason why she overstayed the first time (yes it was a family visit visa)
(2) if I state that I want her to stay for five months, do you think they’d think its ludicrous and not grant her? If yes, do I state that yes I want her to come and help me with the new baby?

(3) I stated that she was unemployed and has a husband in her first visa and didn’t provide any bank statements from her, rather I supplied my husbands and our land registry docs and passport docs.
(4) What do they look for in a bank statement? The fact that one has a huge lump sum of money or ability to prove that money comes in and out regardless of what is in there at a given time?

FF to today, i am married with a kid and a net salary of about 465k but i am working as an outsourced staff for a Chinese company. I worked for 2 years with the first outsourcing firm before it was changed about 6 months ago on the same salary of 465k.

Now my issue is the short period i have worked for the present company even though I am been outsourced to the same firm. Someone suggested i go back to the previous company to get a reference letter to indicate i was working for them before.

Another concern i have is the breakdown of my pay in the payslips, the company intentionally quote a small amount as basic salary so that they can equally pay a reduced amount as pension since the pension rate is a function of the basic salary. My basic salary is 5k with allowance forming the bulk of my net salary. Will this have any implication? Or do i just avoid putting the payslips in my application?

Also i have a friend (British citizen) who relocated to the UK in January of this year. Do i get him to send me an invite or do i apply like i don't know anyone in the up?

You should be sincere with your application since you would be accommodating her, the financial aspect should not be a burden on her. She should provide a statement of account that will take care of her return flight. You can state 3months in her application.

Presenting a 5 months payslips rather than 6 will raise an eyebrow. Don't make that mistake because you will not be there to explain the reason.

Why the inconsistency in your monthly eatings?

The inconsistenceies are because of the following
In November I earned - salary + 13th month
In December I will earn- salary + end year bonus
In January I will earn - salary + year full housing allowance
In February i will earn - salary + balance of December bonus
In march I will earn - salary + performance appraisal add in

I received a call from UKVI officer where I emphasised that I will be funding his trip 100% as he is a pensioner but still he was accessed financially. I stated that my mum will be helping out with my brothers and that was another point stated. I want to reapply for him immediately as I feel the officer judged his application wrongly and we can't appeal.

1. Was there any particular reasons for her over stay? If yes state the reasons and be honest about it. If there was no reason simply apologize.

2. State the correct numbers of days for the visit and support it with documents. In this case, your anti natal visits, hospital bills, expected date of delivery, emotional needs etc to justify her long stay.

3. Enclose the same documents you submitted for her previous visa, and update yours.

4. If you did not submit her bank statement in her previous application and she got the visa, then you do not need to submit any.

Like I said, her application will be assessed based on justifiable reasons for her last over stay.

Sorry about this refusal. From the letter, the ECO is right. Your dad do not have any financial home tie. Without evidence of pension payment or RSA statment of account, evidence of other financial supports from your mother, the ECO thinks that your dad may over stay if approved. This is what you need to address if you intend to reapply immediately. The fact that you have assumed full sponsorship, does not means the applicant personal and financial circumstances does not count.

That is ok, apply with 6months bank statement and payslips and give brief explanation about the inconsistency like you did here.

Goodmorning house please I need help. my husband and daughter submitted their passport to be stamped on the 30th of November after a successful review. my husband has picked up his own passport since on Friday but there is no collection mail yet for my daughter. it's a Tier 4 dependent visa. please is this normal? two passports submitted together, one is back while the other isn't?

Your payslip is very important as it enable the ECO to trace your income within your bank statement and also as evidence of working. All you need to do is to explain why your basic is N5000 and may be get a letter from your human resources to suppoort this baisc pay. The ECO is more interested in seeing consistency in your finanacial in the last 6 months vis a vis your travel budget, and not necessarily the breakdown of you salary.

Knowing someone in the UK who is not a family member can be tricky as you will need to prof the relationship and justify why he need to invite you. If you have enough travel history and cash to spend, I suggest you leave your friend out of this application and book hotel. Having said this, you must disclose your friend as someone you know in the UK, but you will not visit or stay with him.

I quite disagree with this. Once you submit a statement of account indicating your salary monthly without discrepancy, then pay slip is not needed. I know about 4 different pple that submitted just statement of account. I am also a witness. My first application and the second application, I never submitted pay slip. I submitted my salary account and explained other cash flow.
