hunniesuzie: Thanks mama. So how many extra body suits do I pack? I plan to express. Possibly bout 220-250ml which would be in one feeding bottle. |
Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by hunniesuzie: 12:51pm On Dec 28, 2017 |
Well I pack 2 extra although he typically uses 1. The other one is incase of poo/food accidents For the expressed milk only put the quantity he can finish at once in a bottle. If that 250ml is 2 feeds then separate it. You want to ensure as minimal contact with your baby's food as possible goodfortun: |

goodfortun: 1. it depends on the weather. at that age, a body suit will do or just normal indoor clothes (top and trousers). there should be a small storage box or peg at the crèche where you can leave spare clothes, bibs, etc behind in a bag. you can leave 'permanently' at the nursery about 3 bodysuits and maybe one complete outfit. 2. it depends on the crèche. some will suggest you leave two feeding bottles permanently with them (with your child's name labelled on it) as this saves you the hassle of bringing in bottles everyday and taking them back home everyday. the creche will wash/sterilise the bottle after each feed. it is their duty to do this as you are already paying for the service. if you choose not to leave bottles with them permanently, then 2-3 bottles is okay everyday - 1 for formula and the second for water. 3.again, the crèche should be the one to sort this out. you cannot be moving around with a bowl of sterilised water everyday. ask them their mode of sterilisation. a decent crèche should have a standard method of sterilising all feeding utensils for babies in their care (steam or microwave sterilisers or they might provide sterilising tablets). so just give them the clean bottles in the morning (that is if you choose to bring in bottles daily) and ask them to sterilise before use. 1 Like 2 Shares |

happymama:Atleast u were told to use gel, i never use anything on my sons cord. At the hospital, we were told to just clean with cotton bud after every diaper change to ensure it is dry. They said if we as adult have a wound or sometin that are we going to like it if spirit is used on the wound so same apply to babys. I strictly adhered to d cotton bud thing and in less than 2 weeks it fell off and healed beautifully. So dont be scared i am sure they know what they are doing or wait for other mamas to put mouth. |

realtalk19:I am not saying spirit is not effective and safe. I am just saying what i was told at the hospital and it worked for me and baby never got an infection. When i was told this, i had to talk to my sis who is a medical doctor and a mother of 4 and she told me they use methylated spirit and was laughing saying all this oyinbo and the way they do there things self and ask me to do as i was told and showed at the hospital. I also went to google and saw that they are dispensing the use of spirit and that was when i was calm about it. I did as i was told and like i said earlier, it healed very well and no infection as long as u keep the place dry and clean it during every diaper change. I just got this from babycenter "Don't use alcohol to clean the stump. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) used to recommend cleaning the base of the stump daily with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol. But researchers have found that untreated cords heal faster than alcohol-swabbed cords and carry no more risk of infection, so the AAP changed its recommendation" 2 Likes |
