Hmmmm.... I thought the NFF were planning a match slated for Nigeria as a way of allowing the team bid goodbye to the Nigerian fans before heading to Russia. I heard may 27 was meant to be the date for such but it was not confirmed though.

Cezch republic on June 6. Hmmmmm.... okay smiley

The send-off game would probably be against a small African team.

Loolll... abi... I think we are not focusing on playing a south american team anymore because we have already done so and serendipitously against the very team we will face in Russia. cheesy

tbaba1234:

All European teams, looks like we are focused on winning the first 2 games.

Normally, if Musa status doesn't change at Leicester, he might not be at d world cup, though it would b a very diff decision

As I agree with you.

Watch how I get labelled a hater of KC.

The reality is KC has not performed he is a £25 million striker that has not delivered commensurate with hi price tag. I am watching all the accolades and comparison going on world class striker, etc.

It's hope for better things to come and a lot of work for him to do to get there.

then we should stop accusing forgiveness of being sentimental or tribalism cos am beginning to suspect guys here especially with their comments on Nacho Fleetwood performance and the way they are mocking Kayode citing forgiveness as the reason, some even came out to rubbish Kayode saying his contract was terminated just to taunt. We need to put ends to it so that we can enjoy our good discussion here or we lose it.

It's a pity that we are in a country where we are not secure as brother and sister and no thanks to our leaders who have used the power and influence to divide us in religion, ethnicity and tribal lines but seeing elites joining the bigotry tribals bandwagon always makes me sad, only God can save this country, seeing Funke Akindele dropped from hack AVENGERS casts and see how some were happy with the development and later replaced by Genieveve who was later dropped too,pls see happiness again, then why are we complaining Moses lost out in CAF recent awards, check it out north Africa voted Oshoala most in last CAF awards,if north Africa votes is removed Oshoala would have lost out and we w be here criticising CAF.

I tire for Nigerians see how Uzoho was mock by the same Nigerians for saying he is 19 years, why for God sake.
It might take a thousand years but one day we will see all the lies that we have used in dividing ourselves, we will see them for what they are. Until then Baba let's just do our bit to create expansiveness, tolerance and some bit of acceptance. Respect Sire

All European teams, looks like we are focused on winning the first 2 games.

The two teams we need to beat to make the second round are Croatia and Iceland.

If we can win both teams then the result of the Argentina game would just determine whether we finish first and second.

Besides that we have already played Argentina in a recent friendly, and no friendly with any South American team is comparable with that. And besides that Argentina are our traditional rivals. We know how they play already.

I wont be surprised if Argentina also do not play any West African opposition. Even if they do it may just be just to regain confidence against us.

Yes I know some castigate him just like the way Mikel always getting the sticks even I know some are waiting for bad performance to attack some of these players, some hate them for no reason and it happens,so i get your point on Nacho and why a lot are celebrating him now for good performance against Fleetwood.

The guy scored against argentina, una say na weak argentine team we play. He scored 3goals against fleetwood, una say na league 1. Is it untill he plays against Hell Fire united with satan as the referee and scores 10 goals before you start giving the dude some credit?

Up until now, The chief culprit has not come out to say a word of congratulations. He is waiting for him to fail in the Next EPL game to say sebi i told you that was fluke. Even Oga Mickael2 wey dey call himself realistic manage say something.

I congratulated Funke. In fact, when some were trying to play down on its achievement at the time, I had to remind them that Avengers:Infinity war will be one of 2018's best and most profitable movies financially at the box office, so being part of a project like that even as a cameo background character is quite an attainment.

But now you speak of Nacho - Kayode.... please who castigated Kayode because of Nacho's performance yesterday? I think I only saw one moniker who did so.... Realpoacher. The guy is one that I know mentioned Kayode and to me, I was like... "not again sad "

But who else Elder Kog45 because I fear your accusation on guys who stand up for Nacho is totally misplaced.

Iheanacho is the most vilified and most castigated player on this thread and in NL as a whole. The boy is almost always being put down by a host of people who feel he can easily be replaced despite his good run of form and records for the Super Eagles.

And please don't forget where all this nacho-kayode comparison began. It began with Egbon Forgiveness... (Ehmmmm... Egbon Sir Forgiveness... abeg no vex... I just wan make point okay. Hope say u dey okay. I never see you for a while now sef.)

Now, Egbon Forgiveness started it as a way of showing all that Nacho can be replaced and by who? Well , he brought up Solanke and then later Kayode as better options upfront.

Now before this, There was no issues with anyone being tribalistic as regards showing support and love to one of Nigeria's Golden boys , Kelechi Iheanacho (take or leave it, you know he is one of Nigeria's most beloved players thus must also have the highest no. of critics).

But when Egbon Forgiveness brought up this issue and was always persistent with it as regards Nacho being trash upfront and brimimg up Kayode or solanke (way back then) as a better option, that was when people like me had to step in and try to balance things by saying that he should not rubbish Nacho just because he wants to make a case for Kayode or any other. That it is not fair and it is unhealthy.

Others got into the mix of the arguments too and as usual a mentality was formed for most. Someone even called Nacho useless as a no.9 (Sir Goldfish80 to be precise). Sir Goldfish80 also went on to make the bold prediction that Kayode will soon bang his first LA liga goal soon enough based on his attitude and dare. He said that as a way of saying Kayode will even get a league goal in Spain before Nacho. Look... guys, I don't forget things oooo... I watch and I take note.

Now because of all these... it is not surprising to see someone like Realpoacher always on Goldfish80's and Mickael2's cases... but I must use this opportunity to finally call him out. Omo Sir Realpoacher... Abeg. even if you must tackle or oppose their views, don't do it in a manner that defames their character biko. Those guys are valuable members of the thread and have been here long enough before you showed up. So please accord them that respect even if you must oppose okay. Thanks man. smiley

Now back to the matter of tribalism.... elder kog 45.

It is not as if anyone wants Kayode to fail just to prove a point. Nope... because from all I have observed so far, na only Realpoacher call out Kayode and obviously becos Kayode is always being used by Egbon Forgiveness and the other Nacho critics to run down Nacho and make him look like a lost cause.

So this is the true angle. I do not support running down of any player to uplift another. Nooooooo.... but I pray that all desist from using a player to run down another. If you must castigate a player, then do so with care and love and not with pull down mentality.

Iheanacho, it is not his fault that he is well loved in Nigeria and as well have more critics. It is obvious... he is one of our golden boys. See the views this thread got just because Nacho was in action and reviews of his performance were coming left, right and centre... iwobi, moses, and even Ndidi have never garnered such views like Nacho on this thread. Only Mikel rivals Nacho for such views sef but Nacho still edges slightly.

You cannot accuse people who speak up for Nacho for tribalism becos from my observation, guys here who speak up for him and won't go down hard on him in a near destructive manner like The critics do cut across the length and breadth of Nigeria. All major tribes represented here have guys and laides who will speak up for Nacho. So the point of tribalism is absurd.

Like I said, there was never a debate on players comparison until Egbon Forgiveness brought that in. So when people speak up for Nacho, it is to counter what Forgiveness have said to rubbish Nacho and praise Kayode or Solanke. That is the gospel truth.
And it also leads to a psychological reaction to always praise Nacho's good moments in order to drown the earlier opinions of Nacho being trash and way below Kayode and Solanke.

Egbon Forgiveness started the comparison and players rubbishing. He started that and we all cannot deny it if we are truthful but then I feel he was just doing it in the way he understood. He may not change but I have learnt to avoid towing that line with him now coz I am focused on the bigger picture. But what I have outlined is the truth. Showing Love and support for Nacho is not a case of tribalism but rather a case of a psychological defensive reaction against repeated comments washing down Nacho and making Kayode and Solanke gods over him in terms of talent and potentials.

Biko... I know the tides here so I won't lie. Let us be careful and wish all our players well. But don't expect a handshake when you bash one of our best Players in the GWG in order to praise another GWG player who is still seen as a fringe player in the team. Kayode for now is a fringe player and one of our own. He is a very fine player but for the team's sake, he is behind Nacho in the pecking order. Bashing Nacho so that you can make a case for Kayode will only lead to people defending Nacho's relevance and pointing to Nacho's records for us and if you are not observant and careful, you will think it is tribalism.

I repeat, defending or being happy for Nacho is not tribalism. It is only because he has been much vilified and insulted here and overly castigated. Itz a simpu sturvs rily.... wink

Thank you for setting the records straight. I couldnt have said it any better.

Oga Kog, listen here. This is not about Forgiveness. When he was on a roll, you never said that directly to him. When he came out with his seemingly tribalistic tendencies rubishing Iheanacho while using Kayode , you didnt say nada. Every little discussion and Iheanacho will be the butt end of it all. I am a Yoruba Man. Born and raised in the west. He gave yorubas bad names with his antics. Even went as far as saying Rohr is corrupt. Those who live in glass houses should remember not to throw stones.

That our national team is full of a particular tribe to me is inconsequential. What matters is results. It is insecurity that makes us feel cheated. If you have the value, no o e will dispite it. Let us not mistake patriotism with tribalism. Constructive criticism has both damaging effects as well as uplifting effects. While encouragement will only give rise to upliftment. And if you observe, that has been the way I address this issue. I dont hold any brief for Iheanacho or any super eagles player. Tearing them apart from limb to limb is what I will frown at anyday anytime especially when their quality is not in doubt. (Not talking about Akpeyi here cos he has no biz in the team in the first place)

Our choice of players is made for us according to the coaching crew. This is not Idols or America's Got Talent or Big Brother Nigeria where the audience get to vote who wins or gets eliminated. If it were up to some people, if you no get 6pack or as cute as Iwobi u cant be in the national team. Thank God its not done that way.

Trust me at this state, I would be happy to take anyone who feels contrary on. Enough of tribalism talks and comments aimed at derriding other players so as to promote a supposed beloved player.
Thank you
oga wehdone o, be throwing shade upandan, I just dey look you grin

My guy the simple point Icon4s is making is that irrespective of anything whether against Fleetwood oo or backwoods ooo, the young man played well and scored and hence he should be praised. Even his coach praised him. It's not until he kills a cow that he should be praised.

Please beyond football remember you will have kids one day. Don't crush them with this high expectation syndrome. You will not praise until you are sure of 100%. No oooo. With your criticism the child might just give you 100% but he will hate you deep inside his soul. Encourage the child till he succeeds not when he succeeds. Truth is encouragement is a million times more powerful than criticism. In my estimation there's nothing like constructive criticism. All criticism is destructive. It's just that some people use the destructiveness to get better but it doesn't necessarily mean that criticism is by itself constructive. Encouragement says I value you as a human being and I believe you can do better. Criticism says all that matters to me is results, results and nothing more than results. Such an attitude is acidic, once it seeps into the psyche of a child it corrodes, it kills something vital in the child irrespective of good results

Thomas Edison's teacher called him dumb. His mother removed him from school, taught him and gave the world a genius. It's on record that even plants thrive when they are spoken to lovingly.

You are waiting for Nacho to be consistent before you praise him. But how can he become consistent if you don't praise him now. You are waiting for him to kill a cow before you become convinced
But We should and we will not wait till Nacho kills a cow before we celebrate him. He kills an ant, we rejoice, he kills a fly we rejoice some more, he kills a chicken, ohhhhhh we can't hold it, he kills a goat, we throw a party, he kills a cow, we just keep silent because our mouths will be too heavy with Joy.

I repeat: rethink criticism, don't go by the age old mantra of constructive criticism. That's a lie. Encourage, encourage, encourage all the time for encouragement is a million times more constructive than criticism.

Encouragement itself is not a bad thing. But too much encouragement, in other words praise singing, without candid straight forward advice and critical appraisal, will potentially cripple any upward progression for a player.

What you have described in the bold is the creation of a fools paradise.

From failure succes is created, the ability to recognise your failings will result in Success.

My view is that your proposition is nonsensical and devoid of substance.

I am not one those that blamed the coach or Leicester system. In fact I was of the opinion that if Iheanacho is as good as he is being portrayed here then he should be playing most games for a mid-table team like Leicester. No excuses of a system or coach.
Our general expectations on his performance at Leicester have been dashed. But after a long stay-off he comes and scores a brace in an FA Cup game .That is encouraging in my own perspective and the young man should be encouraged.
You sound like a perfectionist but I am one too but sometimes I use human face.

Seem you do not know Puel is a ghost Member of this Thread?! The Pressure has gotten to him, thus he had no choice but to twist his Tactics and Formation to suit our Iheanacho style of Play.

On a more serious Note, I really found it hilarious and petty when Puel was pummeled here as a bad Manager, a Racist who favors English Players to African Players. Dudes forget the same Manager is playing another Nigerian - Ndidi - week in week out.

Ndidi was bought like any other Nigerians into the Team, he got his Chance(s) and grabbed it. I think Puel is confused that Ndidi is a Nigerian?!

Iheanacho should stay at Leicester City and keeps honing his Skills under Puel. He shouldn't be deceived into moving to a lower League, cos that ain't gonna be a good Decision for him and his Career.

Very good point, sometimes we need to stand and fight instead of running, that's what make champions.
Be it fleetwood or oxford fc, he showed his class. Wasent slimani the striker who hit 30 goals in sporting in that same match?
Puel said he would change into his philosophy slowly, he's showing signs of that, his only problem his he doesent rotate players enough, which affect player mentally who are bench warmers. Puel he has improved Ndidi greatly attacking wise and I can see improvements in nacho game, it's almost like people are blind they don't see his increased workrate, agility and flexibility, instead they prefer to ignore that. Puel also developed world class talents like eden hazard & and a few others.
Thank God he's coming out of his shell, slowly infusing his attacking football, lieseter have too much attacking talent to be playing a boring predictable system.
Nacho haters, I hardly argue with you guys because the boy always put you guys to shame, you can hate from today till tommorow but the boy is a special talent and would always prove you wrong, why? Because he has an incredible mental strength, something a lot of critics fail to notice. That is what makes champions, form is temporary class is permanent.

I know where he stands. I know he is for the greater good of the Super Eagles and all our players. But I was simply addressing his talk on tribalism being the reason for Happiness and positive reviews over Nacho's good show yesterday. Simple.

And I repeat, no one laughed at Kayode. Only one moniker gave him a mention and that is obviously because of Egbon Forgiveness who has been hyping Kayode and rubbishing Nacho. Realpoacher only used the psychological tool of defence to counter all earlier castigation attempts at Nacho using Kayode as his comparison. So no one laughed.... But Nacho have been laughed at here so many times.

Kog.45 is saying we should laugh when all our players do well and cry when they fail irrespective of ethnic origin

I don't think some people's preference for Iheanacho over Kayode is due to tribalism. The thing is there are people who cannot see or say anything wrong about Iheanacho for various reasons. They will always prefer Iheanacho to any player. You oga Kenny for instance are a Yoruba and I know you as one of those strong Iheanacho fans .

Iheanacho is like an idol to some. That's all.

Neither am I implying it in any measure. SuperNerd has said it the way it is in his letter to the Romans. Erm.... sorry Nairalanders I mean. To add anything is tantamonut to gainsaying him.

To answer the bolded. I proudly admit that I am a huge strong fan but not a clouded one. If we had to take stats of times spent pulling the boy down vis a vis encouraging him on this thread, you will realize that if this were to be ball possession, thats an automatic 80-20 possession with the supposed constructive critics taking the lion share.

I defend this dude because of the injustice metted out to him and the unfair expectations placed on his shoulders. And frankly, I do that with the facts and situation playing out right in front of us all. I am not gonna start unveiling that now. We all can see for ourselves. And let us not forget one underlying factor. Everyone has their own kryptonite. In other words human beings will always be human beings and we do have emotions. No one likes to be pulled down.

For those that know and understand ijinle Yoruba, "ìsòrò ni ìgbèsì, ìsúnkun s'ínú ni ìgbétè gaayin, ìhakèlèbè ni ìsorùn gbòngìyà !!!" For those inclined to science, all i said is for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

For the rest who didnt get the gist, well I am sorry for all of you one by one( on a lighter note yall)
Not holding brief for Sir Kog45 but he and Sir Icon4s have always delivered a balanced perspective on Iheanacho: no exaggerated praise nor excessive criticism. He's guilty of none of the things you posted above.

Just listened to Pinnick's speech at the unveiling.

There is possibly a last friendly game against Chile or Morocco before the first WC game.

We will be camped in Austria.

DISCLAIMER!

I wasnt referring to Oga Kog or Icons4s. The word should av been "we".

I was pointing their attention to the genesis of issues that border around percieved tribalism as as demostrated by a moniker.
I agree that both give balanced view on things. I am only here to set the records straight. This is not about right and wrongs on their part. Choice of what we all wanna go with rests solely with us as individuals
