There's something positive I've noticed about the CHAN EAGLES and that is their good passing rate. I love their short passes. The only thing they lack which is very vital is that killer instinct to score goals. Hopefully they'll improve on that.
what did you see bro...?
I have been watching their matches...apart from the defense dont think there is anythinh spectacular about this team.

Very beautiful architectural designs. Couple with the pleasant cool weather of Jos city, the stadium might host some Super Eagles games in the future. What I don't understand is why it's taking eternity for them to complete it. Work has been on going in that stadium since when I was a young teen cheesy

The CHAN team are representatives of pur league... winning the tournament will help improve the image of the league outside Nigeria... Again, some people are just following the tournament not because they are fans of the NPFL but because they just wanna support Nigeria.. maybe they will put more interest in the league if we win it .

Bro the benefits are much .. Its our league representing in CHAN

i have my reasons for asking you ... and you just made a clear point . thumbs up .

Can't download the pics of the architectural design... But I read somewhere that construction on the stadium has been going on since 1988...
Too much politics being played by the govt...
its will be a 44,000 capacity stadium when completed

my 50 kobo;

Emenike's struggles with Nigeria in my opinion started when Ideye got dropped from the team. No?

How many games have Nigeria not scored in with Ideye in the line-up?

My only criticism of him is he seems to have lost his knack for putting the ball in the net in the latter part of his career. Earlier on playing in the Swiss league and immediately afterwards, he was a beast! His goals did the talking, no long story. Having said that, on the positive side, the team play better in the final third when Ideye plays. He can hold the ball up excellently and links play better than anyone we have. This though I agree does not mean he is guaranteed a seat on the plane to Russia. Personally he has always been in my 'team' if 100% fit and in a bit of form.

Finally I am not so sure about how hungry he is these days. I just have a feeling he is happy with the career he has had so far and obviously is now financially secure and has a couple of medals to show for his effort. The same cannot be said of most of the younger guys and this is a problem.

Thank you for listening. lol

Kelechi Nwakali joins MVV Maastricht on loan
By arseblog - January 24, 2018 2

Last week reports emerged that Arsenal were set to cut short the loan of Kelechi Nwakali to VVV Venlo.

The 19 year old has had a difficult time with the Eredivisie outfit, starting just three games despite scoring on his first appearance for the club back in September.

Rather than being called to London, however, he’ll spend the second half of the season with MVV Maastricht in the Dutch second division.

Nwakali spent last season on loan with them, making 34 appearances, scoring three goals and making 4 assists.

The Nigerian joined the Gunners in the summer of 2016, and his loan moves are developmental.

Unfortunately it seems he’s been unable to convince mid-table VVV Venlo that he’s ready for their first team, so let’s hope it goes well with Maastricht who are in a similar league position in the Eerste Divisie.

This proves to Arsenal that the boy is not ready for first team action or ready for Nigeria as he was unable to break into VVV Venlo team.

Iwobi Better Than Sanchez In Four Key Stats, Tipped To Replace New Man Utd Star

Alex Iwobi is being tipped to replace new Manchester United signing Alexis Sanchez in Arsenal's starting eleven for the time being, until Arsene Wenger signs a capable replacement.

The Nigeria international is better than the Chile international in four key performance statistics : passing accuracy, shooting accuracy, average duels won and average defensive actions.

Iwobi might be underrated right now due to his inconsistent performances this term but the winger has a shot accuracy of 70 percent whereas Sanchez has 57 percent.

The Super Eagle has completed an impressive 86 percent of his passes, compared to the Chilean who has a passing accuracy of 73 percent.

With an average defensive action of one, Iwobi is better than Sanchez who has zero. The Nigeria wonderkid has won 52 percent of his duels, while the Chilean has won 49 percent.

The Hale End Academy product is in line to make his 22nd appearance of the season in all competitions when Arsenal face Victor Moses's Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium tonight.

Puel Tasks Iheanacho To Replicate FA Cup Form For Leicester In The EPL

Leicester City boss Claude Puel has challenged Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho to make his goal-scoring form in the FA Cup also manifest in the club’s Premier League games.

Iheanacho has struggled to establish himself at Leicester City since his £25 million move from Manchester City in the summer.

The 21-year-old has made just nine league appearances without scoring a goal.

But he scored both goals as Leicester overcame Fleetwood 2-0 in the FA Cup Third-Round replay last week and is expected to lead the line again at Peterborough in the Fourth Round this Saturday.

Puel believes Iheanacho has been hampered by an injury early in the season, and had lost some confidence as he struggled to break into the team.

But he hopes his goals will rejuvenate his self belief and help him start to make an impact in the Premier League.

“I think it was fantastic for him and the squad, that he scored two quality goals,” Puel told Leicester Mercury.

“I was happy with his performance from the beginning of that game. He showed his quality and his use of the ball – and he scored two good goals.

“It is good for his confidence. It was a good performance and I hope it gives him some consistency and confidence.

“It will do him good. It was important he gave a good response and now he has to continue this hard work. Any game time he can score a goal it is a good thing.

“I think Kelechi has kept a very positive attitude on the training ground, without game time and sometimes not being in the squad.

“He works hard on the pitch and this is the most important thing for a young player because sometimes he may get frustrated and disappointed.

“It is important to always keep a positive attitude and outlook and continue his hard work, especially for a young player because they must be patient to get game time. He is a good example.

“Sometimes it is difficult to give all the game time to some of the players because, for example, we have six strikers in his position.

“Without a good balance in the squad, it is difficult to manage all these players and continue to improve them.

“It will be important in this transfer window to find this good balance and I hope Kelechi will get more game time in the future.”

Kanu: Footballing Gandalf
BY MUSA OKWONGA
    

There is a game of football so good that were its highlights not available on YouTube its existence would be thought implausible. At the 1996 Olympics, Brazil took an extraordinary team to the semi-finals, where they arrived having unleashed some of the most devastating attackers world football had ever seen. The only problem was that, in this semi-final, Brazil encountered Nigeria. More specifically, they encountered Nwankwo Kanu.

No, Nigeria were not a one-man team, any more than the Avengers expect Hulk to do all the work. But if Nigeria were the Avengers — with Jay-Jay Okocha as their Captain America, and Victor Ikpeba as Hawkeye – then it was definitely Kanu they called upon when they needed someone to Smash. Kanu was an unlikely Hulk, with about the only physical resemblance being that he was most dangerous when dressed in green. But that afternoon in Atlanta, he was just as devastating as an irate Bruce Banner.
If you haven’t watched this match, I have to ask you what you’re still doing here. Nigeria went up against a squad containing Dida, Roberto Carlos, Aldair, Flavio Concecaio, Bebeto, Savio, Juninho, Rivaldo and Ronaldo (yes, that one), and – in a game as thrilling and gloriously bonkers as the ending of any Marvel blockbuster – they prevailed by four goals to three.
They prevailed because of Kanu, who late in that game ascended to heights of heroism not seen since Samwise Gamgee clambered onto the rocks of Mount Doom. Kanu, with Nigeria trailing by three goals to two, scored twice. The first time, he rescued his country from defeat with an equaliser, flicking the ball up and volleying home on the turn in a crowded penalty area. The second time, he provided one of the most happily magical moments seen in major sport. (But enough about his celebration.)

First came the winning goal – a golden goal, and rarely has a strike been so appropriately named. Kanu chipped the ball forward, so that it would fall into Ikpeba’s path; but when it failed to reach his target and bounced back to him, Kanu chose to take matters into his own laces. Shaping one way and then swerving the other, he strode to the edge of the area before lashing a low strike across Dida and into the opposite corner.
As he wheeled away, soon to be engulfed by his ecstatic team-mates, he stumbled in comical fashion, like a thirsty chicken who had just come across a bottle of vodka.

That match and its aftermath were pure Kanu – a footballer as theatrical as he was decisive. In that sense, he was similar to Ronaldinho, another player whose flair always had the most effective of end products. Kanu, like Ronaldinho, was irresistible at his peak. A single drop of the shoulder could send a goalkeeper as shrewd as Peter Schmeichel lurching the other way. On one occasion, in a UEFA Champions League match for Arsenal against Deportivo La Coruña, Kanu went through on goal and threw such a magnificent dummy that he didn’t even need to break stride or touch the ball for the poor ‘keeper to go flying past. It’s the type of nonchalance you’d expect to see from Leo Messi.

Like, say, Andres Iniesta, Kanu was an unlikely-looking football genius. Iniesta resembles a mid-career insurance salesman who took a wrong turn on the way home and wandered onto the turf at the Camp Nou. Kanu seemed thin to the point of fragility, his shirt billowing off his scarecrow frame as he ran. But that same frame hid a remarkable resilience. Kanu could have died from a heart defect, but ended up captaining his country for well over a decade and playing professional football into his late thirties. In a gloriously itinerant career, he was as much a part of legendary feats at Portsmouth as he was at Ajax.

There was always something of the wanderer about Kanu – something irrepressibly free-spirited. It wasn’t that he drifted aimlessly from club to club, rather that he sprinkled his brilliance upon each town that he touched before moving on. To borrow another Tolkien reference, he ended up as a kind of footballing Gandalf, an elderly wizard still bewildering mere mortals as he ambled through the shires. And, when his odyssey finally drew to a close, If were all the poorer to see Kanu hang up his hat.

Abdullahi Takes Part In First Bursaspor Training, Set For Saturday Debut
By Adeboye Amosu

Super Eagles defender Shehu Abdullahi took part in his first training session with Turkish club Bursaspor on Wednesday following his transfer from Cypriot club Anorthosis Famagusta and is in line to make his debut against Alanyaspor on Saturday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN).

Bursaspor, who already have Nigerian duo William Troost-Ekong and Mikel Agu in their ranks, announced Abdullahi’s arrival via their official Twitter handle on Tuesday.

The versatile right-back who can also play as a defensive midfielder signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Bursaspor after ending his two-year stay with Cypriot club Anorthosis Famagusta.

Abdullahi took part in the training session which lasted for one hour 40 minutes under the supervision of head coach Paul Le Guen.

The Nigeria defender is set to make his debut for Bursaspor, who are ninth in the Turkish Super Lig table, when they face 13th placed Alanyaspor in an away league fixture at the Bahcesehir Okullari Stadium on Saturday.
