Hello house, please I need advice on this:
I want to apply for the Australian Permanent Resident program. My Qualifications is below:
BSc : Biochemistry from OAU and Master of Information Technology from Unilag
I have worked as a software developer for about four years
Please advice me. Do I qualify? Will not studying an ICT related course in my first degree affect my chances?

Priceless25:

It's saying that with your nominated occupation, you can only apply for visa subclass 190 (state sponsored) and 489 (regional sponsored) respectively.. You can't apply for visa subclass 189 because you don't have sufficient score (60 points), this is rightly so because they didn't get information on your education, hence the column for that on the report is 0. If you read page 0, you wouldn't have asked the question, even the result of survey you posted here explained it there.

Thanks man

@Alore,

I am not sure what EA will do in your case. I don't know if they will take experience in lieu of qualification. Maybe you should send an email to EA.

Kindly find the requirements from the ACS Skill assessment guideline below:

A post graduate qualification (Graduate Diploma or Masters) that do not require a Bachelor with an ICT
major for entry into the course, must have:
• A minimum of 3 semesters or at least 1.5 years of full-time study
• At least 2 semesters or 1 year of full-time equivalent ICT content
• A minimum of 12 units or subjects (overseas degrees may contain less units or subjects)
• 50% ICT content for a 2 year Graduate Diploma or Masters qualification
• 33% ICT content for a 3 year Graduate Diploma or Masters qualification

The requirements above will determine if your Master degree is an ICT major or Minor.

Then you need to ensure that the contents of your degree is related to the Closely Related Core ICT Unit areas contained in the anzsco code description for the occupation you are nominating which is available here -> https://www.acs.org.au/content/dam/acs/acs-skills/ANZSCO%20Code%20Information%20-%202017%20V4.pdf - Same applies for the job description.

Thanks boss. This is really helpful. The masters seems valid for the occupation I am nominating. Please I will also like to ask if the years of experience I have before obtaining my masters will count.

Dear Senior Civil Engineers,

I Know you will be very busy at this time but I urgently need your help. My assessment with EA just came back with a request for additional information on my 3 career episodes. The assessor stated thus

" Submitted episodes do not demonstrate your competency at a professional engineering level. If you want to be considered for the professional engineer outcome you need to submit updated/new career episodes. Please, note that if the new episodes are not sufficiently improved, you may not be assessed as professional engineer.

Alternatively, the assessment may be finalized with Engineering Technologist ANZSCO 233914 outcome. In this case no new or updated career episodes are required.

Please, state your preference."

Kindly advise as i was only given 1 month to respond.

Kind regards.

If your masters is an ict major and its course content are related to the nominated occupation, you will need two years of experience either before or after to meet the skilled level. Then, you can claim points for experience only after you have met both qualification and the experience required.

Caveat: the date you will meet the skilled level is the date that you achieve both experience and the qualification requirements

It means that the career episodes weren't well written or there is something wrong with them. Did you ask someone to prove read for you? I'm not a Civil Engineer but could you please push a CE you wrote to me. So I can see what what you did? Thanks btw.

Also remember that the Episodes must be improved sufficiently or else you will assessed as an ET. Engineering Tech is ranked lower than Professional Engineer.

Better get a Pro Eng.

To Do List:

1. Write new episodes
2. Get a guru (Oga Bellong or a Civil Eng. already assessed)
3. Send it again

Also, If that 1monthh time-frame elapses, then you must pay again I guess. smiley

Wish you well!

TRed as done justice to your question.

But note that it is not just to have a positive assessment but also to maximise your point that count

Do you have up to 8 years experience after your Masters? so that you can claim 15 points. If you do then you can use your masters

Else

Use your Bsc cert with an RPL.

Do you have any other IT cert?

The earlier the certificate the better because your skill level met date will be from the date you obtain the certificate if the acquired experience is sufficient.

Years of experience obtained before your masters will count. However, not more than two years will count it your case.

This is tricky.
If he has two years before the masters, means he will claim points for 4 years experience gotten after masters and claim 15 points for education..
His BSc will only get him 10 points and he stated he has just 4 years experience.

@Trastar , I miss that line where he said he has 4 yours experience only, now I see it. I agree with you this is the tricky part. But his B.sc point is 15 points (BSc. from OAU) same as his masters.

@Tolutheo, I assume you will use pre-qualification experience together with your BSc. and RPL so that your experience immediately after your B.Sc can count towards your experience point.

If all 4 years experience were acquired after Masters then you can use your masters only and still get the same point.

I didn't even realize his BSc will be 15 points.
However, RPL means more years will be deducted right? Doesn't he need 6-8 years of experience for RPL?
Safest and easiest move will still be his masters.

Thanks, I think just like @Trastar said BSc. is my best chance since all my four years of experience are directly after my BSc and before my masters

Hello everyone and good morning. Thanks to all who are making this thread a lifeline.

Please I've read as many pages as I can, but have not seen the answer to my question.

How much should one budget for this whole process?

1. IELTS
2. Vetassess
3. EOI
4. Medicals
5. Police report
6. Balance needed in account to apply for visa
7. Visa
8. Ticket
9. Realistic amount needed in account to tide over your first few months there.

Please estimates are okay, but if anyone just finished a payment and has fresh idea kindly share.

Thanks a lot guys, abeg no jump me pass.

Thank you for your time boss, here are the answers below:

1.) No, MIT is a professional masters so PGD is not required for non IT majors
2.) I obtained the MIT Dec, 2017
3.) I obtained the BSc Biochemistry in November 2012
4.) Yes I have a couple of Microsoft Cert: MCSA Office 365, MCSE Sharepoint, MS Azure, MCSD Azure (All obtained between 2014 and 2015)
5.) I started working immediately after my NYSC in June 2014 so I have about 4 years post NYSC experience
