Hello nairaland people, I am about to travel for a short course to USA next week. I have an international driver's permit but my Nigerian drivers license is missing. I have read in a couple of online platforms that we need to have both (local and international) to drive in USA but people have told me only the international driver's license is okay. Nigerians in diaspora, I need your advise |

Hello Good people of this house, I am dropping my passport for renewal for my self, wife and kids via drop box. My question is would their presence be required anytime during drop off or pick up of the passport at the DHL office. Thanks in anticipation of anyone that has done this before. |

@Jgreg I'm sorry you were refused. However, I kinda don't like it when people themselves say the reason for refusal then ask for folks to guess the reason. The vo said " your visa does not qualify you to give this talk" Have you researched whether that particular field requires a specialist only to deliver it vis a vis the US laws? Have you checked the reach of the B visa vis a vis health management in the US? Perhaps you should do that first. I don't know the answers. And you should have asked the vo the approprate visa 1 Like 1 Share |

wabuk: Amen to the bolded. Just go with all necessary documents pertaining to your app (going by the number of u attending the interview am sure it may be truck load ; don't mind me just joking) however this may not be checked during the interview. Be confident tell your family too. You and your wife should be grounded in your field as questions may be thrown at you guys in that area and have a clear purpose of visit. All the best 2 Likes |

Hi,I observed that you had an interview which you scheduled for December last year.Did you still go for that interview or it was rescheduled. If you did attend same and was denied,my opinion is that perhaps you should still give it sometime. Also, you initially stated that you intended to visit Atlanta, maybe there are inconsistencies in your previous application and the recent one.Your virgin passport may also be another factor. You should try and build a travel history with your family and take it up from there.Take care man. akinkunmi2020: 3 Likes 1 Share |

Morning Y'all, could this story be real? Read and respond accordingly. Cheque Is Money This is a true life story. Not only is it a real account of event that took place between my blood sister and US immigration/custom officers, it is a recent one too; it took place last two weeks. Between Tuesday 23rd and Thursday 25th, January 2018, from Lagos to Atlanta, USA, and back to Lagos. The entire journey lasted not more than forty-eight hours. My sister has been visiting America since 1996, mostly twice a year. She had two of her three children in the US. All of them are now residents in US. The purpose of the visits has largely been business, including this last one. She runs Daslat Ventures, a boutique / Home stuff outfit, with outlets at Ogba Shopping Arcade and Ajah. Most of her dealings in US are with Costco, a popular and reputable company. This paragraph is meant to give a mental understanding to who she is. Nothing more. On the fateful Tuesday, I got a whatsapp message from my sister notifying me she was about to board a Delta airline (her usual airline, a US airline) going to Atlanta, Georgia. Several hours later, I got another whatsapp message informing me they had landed in the airport in US. The message ended with 'Alhiamudulilhai'. Myself, I was busy packing my luggage for the next day flight to Nigeria. Next time I checked my phone, there was another message from her: 'heading back home now'. I was a bit puzzled. I tried to explain it away by telling myself she was heading to her home in Atlanta. But wait a sec! Between the 'Alhiamudulilhai' message and this one, it had been few hours. I decided to call her. She clarified to me she was heading home to Lagos. 'What happen?' She told me she would explain when we see in Lagos. But I persisted. She then explained..... The flight from Lagos to US was smooth. Delta is the best. Ojukai and his wife were also on board. When we landed at the airport in US, I was able to connect to the airport Wi-Fi. That was when I sent you the message of my arrival. I proceeded to the entry desk where my passport and visa were checked and verified ok. 'You are welcome to the US ma'am.' I walked past the counter, was heading to the arrival section when I heard 'hey You!'. I stopped and turned around to face a stern looking middle aged white man. He pointed at the book I was holding, 'You must set Forth at Dawn'. 'WHAT IS IN THAT FEDEX ENVELOPE?' This was the beginning! In the Fedex envelope I had inside the Soyinka's book I was holding was a cheque given to me by Mrs Giwa to help deliver to a friend of hers, Mrs Ijeze whom I know very well. I didn't declare it at the point of entry. One, I didn't know cheque is money. Two, it wasn't in my name. When they asked me to follow them to their office within the airport I knew I was in a sort of trouble. Though I had the confidence I could explain myself, my bladder still gave way! Lol . They took my bags away from me, my book and my phones. I told them I had to change cloth because I had wet myself... they allowed me. Interrogation started. They asked so many questions. They would hold meetings among themselves in whisper and returned to me for another round of questions. They called in a FBI agent. Then another hours of questions. They were trying to establish a case against me but my response kept me in the clear. They asked about my business, I told them. They cross examined that by putting a call through to Costco. My story was corroborated. I gave them Mrs Giwa's number. They called her. She confirmed she gave me the cheque. Still, the interrogation continued. I was getting tired. I m diabetic, you know. One of the agents put before me my phone asking me to explain and identify the people in the video clips in my phone's whatsapp app! I was confused. The clips showed ritual beheadings, boko haram barbaric acts, badoo atrocities and some Emmanuella's comedy skits. I don't know any of them. I could understand the conclusion they were setting up. These are stuff people broadcast on whatsapp in Nigeria. People forward it to their contacts for information purpose only. I have no idea who these people in the clips are. At this point, it is important to mention my sister wears hijab (not Niqab nor Burka). They called most US contacts on my phone. I believed they got good responses about me. During the long hours interrogation, Delta had been contacted to put me on next available flight to Lagos. Delta was excellent. They put me on first class. That was when the interrogating agents started showing me a bit of respect. They told me they were not banning me from entering US in near future but they were not comfortable with the video clips found on my phone. As such they would deny me entry this time. I could go home and reapply for US visa in Lagos. I asked them if my children would be in any trouble because of this unfortunate misunderstanding, they said No. At that point I just wanted to be on my way to Lagos. They didn't confisticate the cheque either. Now back in Lagos, glory be to God, the Lord of all the worlds. The reason I decided to narrate this story to our platform IGSOSA is to inform us concerning what we share, receive from forwarded messages and store (intentionally or otherwise) on our phones. You can never tell when they would turn incriminating. Even if you have got explanations that are genuine, events arising from the delay might waste your precious time and resources. Whatsapp, by default setting, save a copy of your images and videos in your phone's gallery. Koleoso ID 04022018 Adeyemo Layout, Molete, Ibadan. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

dubolog:. Thanks for this beautiful and concise response. It was a fact I scheduled the interview for Dec but i couldn't attend cos of emergency at work that was why I rescheduled it to Feb against Easter season using the same VSF ticket and form. I just wish to know who has the idea of what went wrong. Is it travel history, or Invitation or what? Mind you, no Agent was involved. |
