Like Sir Icon4s use to say, the coaches know better than we do, he sees them in training and knows their weaknesses ..why would Rohr want Uzoho if he is not seeing something,..

If Ezenwa, Akpeyi had been measuring up, do u think Rohr would be looking to make a 19yrs old first choice at world cup..those guys named above are just not good enough..
My man let's wait and see

Talking about that France 98, taking Rufai to that WC was not a mistake or bad choice as peeps look at it today.
Despite how finished he was, he was our best choice.
You saw how Baruwa and William Okpara embarrassed themselves in the Yugoslavia and Holland friendlies. You think they would have performed better than what Rufai did in that WC?

That semi-retired Rufai was still our best goalkeeper at that time. That was the situation we found ourselves.

Rufai kept a clean sheet in only one game. I do not know if he was our best choice but we were in a bad place.

Let us see how these boys perform in the friendlies first.. I expect a good battle.

We have a better defence than France 98 so the keepers might not get too exposed.

You are spot on as regards the importance of experience in goalkeeping but we are in a peculiar situation. The two most experienced keepers are out.

In France 98, we had a goalkeeping crisis that was clear after we were walloped in friendlies. We decided to call the old warhorse back but my man was already finished at the time.
This is just the point. No one can displace or downplay the importance of experience for a gk. But like you just said and as I have often drummed on we are in a peculiar situation. Please where are the experienced gk we have? And is goalkeeping only about experience? Ability nko?
Akpeyi is a riddle. He has experience, he has ability yet he has failed us.

I saw the saves Ajiboye made and they were great...the only reason I wasn't fully sold on Ajiboye was the way he saves..high quality GK make saves and not parry balls into opponent path..this was heavily in display against morocco, thou I did avoid saying anything about it then..high quality gk would save and parry to a non dangerous spot, this is where awareness comes in, I really didn't see that in Ajiboye..I'm sure he has aerial crossing issues also, that weakness wasn't really exploited..

With regards to Ezenwa, all you need is some quality cross into the box and Ezenwa is no where to be found, at the world cup, most of our opponents would try to explore this..even Enyeama at his best still bowed to one of those quality crosses from France..its easy for everyone to say Ezenwa did well against cameroun knowing fully well he wasn't truly tested same as Uzoho in the second half against Argentina.

The kind of players that were crossing at wafu,Chan and even npfl is totally different from the kind of crosses you would get at the world cup.

I really want to see all our gk tried at a higher level b4 I can have faith in any of them..for now, naa long thing we dey..

Honestly just tired discussing goalkeeping stuff,Ajiboye saves are shots which must be parried and Ezenwa had some flops too and Akpeyi shaking but with Uzoho clips i watched he is not better.

Mind you i based it on the clips so hope he comes out good in friendlies and end our continuous searching of number one.

I wouldn't want to blame nature that put us in this quagmire due to Ikeme's illness but I will blame the "spiritual forces" fighting Akpeyi.

He was supposed to be our number 1 having been the deputy to Ikeme since Enyeama retired.

This guy is the major reason we are in this mess. Whoever you offend, you better go and beg them. How can you be getting allthe praises when playing for your club side but do 360 when in the GWG Jersey? Who on earth is screwing up your head when playing for us?

I'm not the superstitious person but his case is an interesting thesis to disect. He needs to see a shrink or maybe visit TB Joshua.

Something or someone is messing with his head, these situation started of recent for him, he wasn't like this before....

Daniel Akpeyi, go back home to your root and ask questions or go visit TB Joshua.

I am just imagining us playing well at the world cup but opponents outscoring us due to bad goalkeeping!

Sir let Rohr throw it open, the five keepers should be involved in friendlies and picked the best cos i will not deceive you not that easy throwing a rookie but the situation is pathetic.

Mujtahida you said Nwakaeme would not be invited and it seems is missing out

I do not understand Akpeyi.. Put him in a Nigerian jersey and he can't grab a harmless cross.

If he is already shaky before the WC, what will happen in a WC stage. Ezenwa seems to be the most confident but his gra gra can be much.

Uzoho is still learning the game but is in a good place.

And let me chip this in again. The friendlies will determine a lot of things but will not be the sole decider. Let me also say again that not all the goalies will be tried during the friendlies. Some will be dropped without a trial. Sounds unfair right. But that is the game for you.

As for Nwakaeme, he blew up his chance with that game against Algeria. That was the very day I personally dropped him from my list.

I disagreed with your last paragraph, having good defence doesn't mean we shouldn't have solid keeper.

The big question is Uzoho deserves to be number one?no sentiment attached, let's wait and see more of him cos i think Rohr have seen what we just saw yesterday, may be that was the reason he sent trainer to assist him.

Yes you are right on goalies.

Nwakaeme had a great chance to impress but failed to grab it.

I'm expecting Rohr to use the first 2 friendlies in trying out fringe players while using the rest to fuse his main team.

It's dicey but Rohr has his job cut out for him. The gk issue has lingered too long.

Yes, Nwakaeme doesn't look like someone who fits the bill. Completesportsnigeria.com report says Ideye would be invited. Well, well. Ideye disappoints too much but as a supporting striker he does play well.

Obi, from Turin to the National team: Nigeria is ready to embrace him again

Sometimes fairy tales have a happy ending. Even if placed in a stormy context, to put it mildly. Joel Obi is living what Torino has been waiting for over two years: a regular season, played regularly, and at the levels that led him to be one of the most interesting youngsters at Inter.

Once upon a time, Nigeria also counted on its performance (13 appearances from 2011 to 2014), but then stopped the customary call due to injuries, which have so far undermined the entire career of the midfielder. Yet, the summer care Mihajlovic, along with that of Dr. Tavana, who unlike his predecessor has found the right keystone, has proved effective: and finally Obi can show off his qualities.

Now, for Torino, the Nigerian has become a staple of the midfield. Almost unavoidable, so much so that recently Mazzarri has preferred to put on the bench the talented (but impalpable) Baselli instead of the former Parma, now in his ninth game as a consecutive holder. And it is for this reason that, now, Nigeria seems ready to embrace her player, who has finally become great: from a young promise, the twenty-five year old Obi seems to have become a certainty, even though he knows very well that he needs many other confirmations. to be able to say that he has thrown away a very difficult period. Even this season, in fact, for a month the midfielder was forced to pit, for yet another muscle problem. Now, things have changed, and in the disaster of Verona has nevertheless proved to be among the most important players of this disrupted Turin. It's the right time, now, to accelerate: for the national team, for the bull and for an environment that is finally able to appreciate it.
