You may be right, but teams are generally more compact and tactical now than ever. Football has become science, so no player can do it like Maradona did then, because individual play hardly gets you far in this era of tactics.
You are right. The role of the super individual is being whittled down in modern football. Team work is where all the emphasis is now.

Like Elder Sir Kog45 said..... prayers won't be enough. Joel must do what is required to bench anyone at all.
Now I know Joel is a quality player. A true super talent... But he must do enough to show he is in form and prove his fitness too.

I want Joel so badly.... But Elder Kog45 knows why he said what he said and I get him. LET THEM ALL WORK FOR IT because na only Mikel, Ndidi and Onazi be sure bets for that midfield for Russia. The other spots are up for grabs.

Wise man decoding simple comment. Respect

It's good to aim higher, to be an Optimist but sometimes I do prefer to be a Realist. Have we got it right?! No! Are we on the right Track...... hopefully!
How about being OptiReal- as in having high expectations that your high expectations will become reality?

Secretly I am believing we will win. Wait first before you come down hard on me. If I don't set my heart high like that in terms of expectations, how else will I enjoy the magical thrill of any victory we get and suffer the sweet anguish of any loss by the SE. It's that expectation that makes most of us watch the match through a haze such that our post match analysis especially after we win are skewed.

We will win ooo. That's my believe.

Defenders were more brutal then. Watch Maradona vs Brazil in Italia 90 qtr finals. Defenders took out Van Basten and he had to retire at the early age of 27. Roberto Baggio was constantly injured by the rugged defenders in the Serie A. What about Andoni Goikoetxea Olaskoaga of Athletic Bilbao also known as the 'Butcher of Bilbao' a player who nearly ended Maradona's career with a career threatening injury. Football was very physical then but perhaps slower. Today the pace has been ramped up such that players are athletes but more protection is afforded to attackers now than in previous times.
also argentina vs italy espana 82 and what maradona suffered against claudio gentile.

I would rather take an inactive Enyeama to the WC than an inactive Alampasu.

A young keeper of Alampasu's age should be getting games, making mistakes and learning from them. That is how we grow. He should have pushed for a loan deal instead of this inactivity.
My man nothing to say again, hope to see wonderful eagles with solid keeper at WC.

I don't think Icardi has been invited to d Argentina national team for 3 years now... Rumour has it that Messi is behind it.. Cus Icardi dated Maxi Lopez's ex girlfriend...

It is not Messi from the best of my knowledge but Diego Maradona.

And, it is not girlfriend but wife. Icardi married Maxi Lopez's wife.

"Icardi will be a great player, but Batistuta is worth 10 of him," the Napoli legend (Diego Maradona) told Canale 5.

"But the Argentine is a traitor, you cannot get married to your friend's wife after having gone out to dinner with them.

"What he did to Maxi Lopez, you pay for in life."

This statement did the damage.

How does forgiveness talk?

If i may ask are you saying it's good to send trainer to Maduka and leave Alampasu out,on what criteria.

Good that Rohr has finally come out to make it cleared that all his five keepers will have trainer attached to them.

But i hate it when people read meaning to a very clear and simple comment.

I think am one of the moniker including goldfish80 and icon4s who always question Alampasu inclusion in the team and i remember Thegoodjoe always defend Alampasu.

But when truth need to be told we must say it without fear cos attaching trainer to Uzoho and Maduka alone is unfair to other keepers and it can cause acrimony in the team, thank God Rohr has made a bold statement towards the issue.

Pls how does i sound like forgiveness or how does forgiveness talk, pls i want to know.....

Not that I am pushing for Alampasu but one asking why he was initially left out in the assignment of a trainer is not out of place.

Thank God Rohr has cleared out that area.

As long as Icardi and Wanda are happy, Argentina football stakeholders should bury the hatchet and make him a regular. It is for the benefit of the team. Personal issues should stay out of the game.

Sha, Icardi has mind.

He needs to get back on his feet before he can even think about Russia. He might be an outside shot but if he can get back to his highly athletic self, then I wouldn't bet against him.

Yes..

You can not beat playing regularly.

Maduka trains with the first team regularly. Infact, he was one of the keepers that went with the first team players to their winter camp. He has also made the bench for the team A.

The difference is that he is constantly playing, you can't beat that.

So also do I like good football. I am an Arsenal and a Barcelona fan. You know what that implies. But I will never wish to see our opponent play good football if they are playing against us.

If our opponents play good football then our team should play better football and if our team plays bad football then our opponents should play worse football. That is always my wish.

My wish is that first, we should always out play our opponents. That is why I do not like our team on the backfoot.

Hahaha, I don't trust untested professionals. In any field of endeavor. And football is not an exception. Worse still the goal keeping position.

Would you be comfortable if a major surgical operation is to be carried out on you by a medical student?

TRUST is the key word here.
