My peeps, peace and good health be unto you. Does any one have experience/tips/advice regarding stamp concrete (polished and unpolished0 of a compound floor? And is it far more expensive than just concrete flooring or interlocking? Thank you

Solar water pump
Any person can tell me about the solar water pump
I don't want a water stand higher than 4 ft
Can I have solar water pump and be able to pump water to second floor?

Stamped concrete floor also known as Increte is an advanced form of concrete floor due to the addition of pigment. Depending on who is doing it for and your location it's about #2500-#3000 per square meter.
Concrete floor is of two types: (1) with brc/wire mesh layed before pouring concrete ; (2) ordinary concrete casting poured on compacted earth fill.
Interlocking stones is a mixture stone dust/granite) /sharp sand and cement pre-moulds into shape and layed on floor. About #200 sqm to lay stones.

Water moves by gravity.
Solar water pump is a submersible water pump running on alternative source of energy.
It will be abracadabra for a 4 ft tank stand to send water to the second floor of a building.

What do I need to do to achieve 4 ft stand
Is there anything I can install to supply water on demand?
Regardless of of the stand
I am trying to do the 4ft stand to manage my risk for the future with high water stand

Thank you. I take it the #200 per sqm for laying the interlocking stone is just for labour, and the #2500 - #3000 per sqm for the stamped concrete includes labour and materials?

l have seen several high stand tanks in Nigeria 4th and above just like the one snakebeat posted few days ago and it was well constructed with all it claws fastened to the ground and I am yet to see anyone that crashed or collapsed, if it is done properly by competent professionals with good pedigree, I don't think you have anything to worry about smiley

I’m with you. No high tanks in my compound.

There are indeed water pumps that can push water upstairs.

Height determine pressure of water naturally but if low you will need repected pumping. Only treated water tank can be as low as 1ft from ground level before another pump takes it to consuming tank higher than building structure to hv a natural pressure.

You can even have your tank underground and still get water upstairs.

OP needs to talk to a plumber that’s worth his salt.

Water ceated underneath a building is regard as reserve water. It is extracted with a pump or manpower using bucket.

Supplied direct to the faucets upon demand directly from subterranean tank.

I was ecstatic when one of the builders on here called me from the US one day. I only wish that he was on the west coast so we can go hang out at construction sites.

Many things are possible, in a simple way.

GoodFaith please face reality. I know this idea has been propounded here before and I think it is championed by Egunmogaji, but to tell you the truth, it's a difficult sell.

A solar pumping contraption is just a pumping machine that uses solar. You still need to solve the problem of good water pressure at home. You can't get good water pressure upstairs from a 4ft stand with our normal GeePee water tank. You would need a specialist pressure tank and a compressor.

So your solar pump will pump water into the pressure tank and the compressor will pressurize the tank enough to send water upstairs. This is less safe as there's the risk of explosion. Then there's the set up cost. This can set you back by 1m easily. The solar pump is going for N280k right? A 500Ltr pressure tank can go for N500k, then the compressor machine and running cost.

If this was a mental health issue like having a phobia of very tall free standing objects, I would say go for it with all you've got. But because you said it just for aesthetic, I would say it's not a good idea.

We should all strive to build a functional home. What's aesthetic without functionality.

You have said it all, I have seen such tanks in Nigeria 4 feet and above still standing after 10 or more years, since GoodFaith prefers the solar enabled one, let him go ahead but in terms of safety issues, I have not seen any tank crashed or collapsed

I have a simple question.

Why are you folks building your own house instead of buying an existing one?
