Nigeria military rated 5th worst military in the world shocked

Nigeria is struggling with an ISIS-affiliated insurgency from Boko Haram (of “Bring Back Our Girls” fame). Despite Nigeria’s oil wealth (the Nigerian oil industry is the largest on the continent), its military is ill-equipped to combat this Islamist uprising. One soldier described it to BBC as:

“Imagine me and you are fighting, we both have guns but while you are wearing a bullet proof vest, I’m carrying an umbrella.”
Soldiers in the country’s Northeastern Borno State are so underequipped, their armored vehicles don’t actually move. Some soldiers are known to flee with civilians as they tear off their uniforms.

Smh at NASS ?? We have an ex-officer as our commander in chief, OBJ was also an ex officer, did more harm than good for the military, in fact at a point it was soo bad that UN told us to go home asin “we no do again”

abiodunalasa:

Almost half of them are ex Military, same with the governors and the President which we all know.

..of good repute
Imagine Maj.Gen Lamidi Adeosun in NASS or Col Laka Adamu etc holding them helm at Senate committee of defence would we need to bleat/screech before the military daily bread is buttered?

Honestly and if they are not properly looked after or integrated into the military, they are Nigeria’s next biggest problem after Boko Haram.

Perhaps you have official figures on their numbers ?

Let's for a second imagine a foreign gov wants to make us limp. The CJTF would be a lovely place to recruit guerillas from. I hope just hope they are not neglected as all other things in our sphere of nationhood

NIGERIAN AIR FORCE AIRLIFTS NIGERIAN ARMY, NAVY TROOPS IN SUPPORT OF ECOWAS MISSION IN GAMBIA

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on, 25 March 2018, airlifted Nigerian Army (NA) and Nigerian Navy (NN) contingents to The Gambia in pursuance of the ongoing ECOWAS Mission in Gambia (ECOMIG). The troops who were airlifted by the NAF C-130 Hercules Aircraft included officers, soldiers and ratings from 351 Artillery Regiment NA as well as from the Special Boat Services of the NN. The troops and other equipment deployed for the operation were airlifted from the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport Abuja to Banjul in The Gambia. The NAF aircraft is also expected to recover home the Nigerian contingent that had completed their 6 months tour of duty in The Gambia as stipulated for troop’s rotation in the ECOMIG Operation.

It would be recalled that the NAF was the first to deploy to The Gambia in January 2017 as part of the standby force tasked by ECOWAS Heads of State to enforce the December 1, 2016 election mandate, which restored Adama Barrow as President. The NAF deployed 200 men and air assets comprising fighter jets, transport aircraft, light utility helicopters as well as Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms. The NAF’s timely intervention served as deterrence to the former President Yahya Jammeh who then relinquished power on 21 January 2017 thus paving way for the restoration of democracy in the country.

I'll give you examples:
1) Exercise IBSAMAR is a maritime exercise by India, Brazil and South Africa which has been held every 2 years off the South Africa coast since 2008 (last one was held in India after their International Fleet Review to save funds as all 3 navies were there). It involves Navy, Air Force and Special Forces from all 3 countries. Because SA is the host, 9 months is dedicated by the SANDF to its planning. 6 months of that is just desk-top planning involving the 3 militaries. As I type this, the Brazilian and the Indian planners have been in SA for 2 weeks to finalise the last 3 months of planning.

2) Exercise Good Hope is a joint maritime and air force exercise by Germany/NATO and South Africa held every 2 years in SA and Europe since 2004. Because of the complexity, planning in the host country always starts 6 months after the exercise - meaning 18 months of planning.

3) Exercise Oxide is a joint exercise by France and South Africa involving maritime, air force and Special Forces every 2 years in SA and the French territories in the Indian Ocean near to us. Planning for this used to be a simple 6 months but because other countries on the Indian Ocean have sent observers - Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles, Mozambique, Tanzania - it's now been pushed out to 9 months.

I could go on and on.

My point is this: no multi-national exercise will ever take less than 9 months to plan and if planning in the host country is a matter of weeks, they're not planning but simply confirming logistics for plans made elsewhere.

The truth! How many fan girls have ever heard of coy level planning and/or logistics, though, let alone on the multi national level?

This has got nothing to do with sahara reporters abeg. As a sane rational dude, the same kidnapper cannot return my abducted child and then expect me to jubilate and felicitate with him like he's doing me some favour after causing the whole trouble in the first place. He's even giving me advice that I shouldn't send my kid to school again..ooh how lovely, he really cares more about my kid than me undecided. If you cannot see the demented psyche expressed there then we will just be going round in circles. Villagers taking selfies with the terrorists and you are here talking SaharaReporters smh

The demented psyche here are Sahara reporters and their believers, Sahara saw a picture and gave his interpretation, here is how Al jazeera described the frenzy;

Bashir Manzo, whose 16-year-old daughter was among those kidnapped, confirmed his daughter was among those freed.

"As I speak to you there is jubilation in Dapchi," he said.

Residents in Dapchi fled on Wednesday morning upon hearing that Boko Haram vehicles were headed towards the town.

"We fled but from our hiding we could see them and surprisingly, we saw our girls getting out of the vehicles," Umar Hassan told the Associated Press news agency.......Al Jazeera.

you are free to believe whatever sh!t you got from Sahara reporters!! Intelligence wasn't shared equally.
